Thanks Maria. I was missing the last two albums that this box set had, so a good way to grab them, plus getting CD versions of all of the LPs that I already had. Happy New Year!
Chris, fun video. I would have thought that your Butch Hancock albums should have made this list! I never see that US version of the Van der graaf Generator album, different artwork on it.
I've certainly seen this happen with records in my collection. One of my most valuable records, technically in terms of what someone paid for it, was Voice Of The Turtle by Fahey. Someone paid $800 for a NM / NM copy which I figured maybe was signed by him (which can be the case for extreme jumps like this) but no, just really clean. Overkill to say the least for that LP. Cool idea here though Chris!
Hi Chris, it is crazy what the top prices go for. Loved the Miles Box set. Luckily I got them all. Some are quite valuable. Some Jethro Tull Cad box sets also go for a ton of money. Surprised me with an Ozzy album Chris. I had most of these, I now feel eclectic lol.
Thanks Steve. I know what you mean regarding some of those Miles and Jethro Tull special editions. In addition to the Beatles disclaimer, I thought about warning people about classic rock (Ozzy) being shown! Happy New Year.
I wondered if you looked each of those albums individually or how you went about your search. Either way tho, enjoyed the video. I've not seen that VDGG artwork either.
Dave, once I noticed this phenomenon I sorted my Discogs database by Max price and then just scanned the entries for the 10 to 1 price difference. Thanks, and happy New Year.
One thing that may skew those high prices for less rare albums is if someone sold an autographed copy. Would love to find that Van der Graaf Generator LP-I NEVER see the US edition. Finnadar is a great label for avant-garde music…if I ever saw that accordion LP I’m sure I would have passed it up, not realizing what it was…now I know better!
Thanks Michael. That's what I was thinking about those shockingly high prices. I was not looking for accordion music, but I do tend to pick up Finnadar releases. Happy New Year, Chris
How much for that rare WSSC Stackridge album? Got my copy of Clear Light as VCLT (and a damn good record). My Sly record was got for a buck - I'm rich!
That Stackridge is a rare one of a kind, white label promo, signed by radio station! I have been trying the dry erase marker trick on the cover but it is not glossy enough to totally remove. It just goes from black letters to to gray or an outline, but a little improvement.
Hey Chris great channel and video! Keep up the great work and keep spinning!
Good morning Chris☕️👋🏻, enjoyable!! Happy new year to you my friend 🎉💥🎊🍺🎶
That George Winston collection looks great. I took my dad to see him 6 or so years ago. Happy New Year!

Thanks Michael. I think the median prices for the Butch Hancock albums are too high for the 10 to one ratio criteria.
Feels like a Beatles channel to me.
I’m going to buy a shrink wrap machine.
Amazon sells them lol

fun list, outliers are always interesting

Ive only ever gotten top value or over list when somebody dies like Silver J or Lou Reed, i sold all of both of those when they passed
cha-ching!! Do you have "We're Only in It for the Money" by Zappa 🙂
I do have a copy of that Mothers of Invention album. It does not meet the 10 to one criteria.
If I got the max price for everything, I might be able to retire 🙂
