Rail Car Wobbling Wildly At End Of Train, Train Changing Tracks Up Close While Passing Train In Ohio

- Steel Train Gives Horn Salute, Train Has Freight Car Wobble Back And Forth At End Of Fast Train, Trains Passing With Train Coming Onto Main Track Up Close View & Train With DPU! CSX & Norfolk Southern Trains In Carlisle, Ohio on the CSX Toledo Sub and Norfolk Southern Dayton District.
First train is a steel slabs train heading southbound on the CSX Toledo Sub. This train is heading to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. This train gave us a horn salute. We had a bunch of railfans here.
Second train is a southbound CSX intermodal train. This train had a DPU on the rear. After that train we went over to the nearby Norfolk Southern line in Carlisle. We heard a train approaching on 160.980 so we went about a mile up the line to catch a manifest pulled by two locomotives.
The fourth train is a couple miles to the south in Carlisle at the railroad crossing on Beachler Road next to the park. Another CSX train had just passed and stopped on the main for this train to come out from the siding. I have that train in another video. We see the huge CSX northbound coal train come out onto the main. Check out that view! That is a cool view of it switching tracks. After that train we see what the pets are up to and then it's time for the slide show that comes from this video. Shoutout to Railfan Jeff! It was fun meeting you in Carlisle and thanks for watching my videos!
Filmed Thursday, August 17, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching
Horn salute on that first train. How awesome is that.
CSX changing tracks one of your best shots to date.
I love that shot of the hopper cars coming off the siding and the way he was speeding up. That was awesome! 😊😊😊😊
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 👍🙏
Love these heavy trains, these are great catches man, love the Dash 8s, they are the oldest GE locomotives still running, those are extremely old diesels, love the YN2s, steel slab trains can be very very heavy, that rail car was wobbling wildly for sure, love seeing DPUs on any freight train, I absolutely love that cat in the outro! Nice video man
Thank you very much!
Lol@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars
*Oldest GEs running on Class 1s. There are a bunch of Dash-7s and even a couple of U-boats still running on short lines. And I wouldn't describe Dash-8s as "extremely old". The newest Dash-8s aren't quite 30 years old, yet, and the oldest had their 40th birthday this year. BNSF still has some GP39s that were rebuilt from GP30s -- the bodywork and trucks of those locomotives are now 60 years old.
Thank you for this little history about Mr. Carlisle who gave his name to this Ohio locality. It's always good to remember...
JT you are the best ambassador the railroads have.
Love the trains, and I noticed that as you gave the history of Carlisle, the street traffic was driving by on the left side of the street. I first thought you were in the UK.
First train was hauling with lots of flat wheels on the empties. Great angle on the last coming thru the cross over..thanks JT.
Never miss any of your videos.
Thanks for watching them!
If you live several miles from a railroad like me
and like to watch trains this the best place to
watch them, enjoyed seeing the trains here in
Carlisle Ohio as well as this area of town and
of course seeing the dogs and cats playing around
in the yard is always great to see, Thank You Jaw Tooth.🤠
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
All the best thoughts & prayers for the folks hit by the hurricane.
Man it's hard to beat a Dash 8 leader. Those things are some real veterans of the rails. While almost every other Class I sold or scrapped them, CSX still has a handfull left on the roster. Nice one!
Awesome salute toot first thing. CSX was splitting the wind. 😊 You're in luck another good capture. Like your history info. That DPU was whining.❤cool.😊 Wow Loki is a big boy now. He's so unique. Love all your pets. Thanks for an awesome train video. Made our day. Be blessed. ❤️😊
You got that right!
Beautiful 🤎 trains
Thanks for watching
The first two trains had places to be!..they were bookin! Great video JT!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Awesome trains, including a horn salute in Carlisle, Ohio, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
You had a good railfanning day in Carlisle, Ohio on 17 August 2023, Jaw Tooth! There were several long trains that you caught this day!
Toot salute to the railfans is always cool. Nice bookend power set on train 2. Excellent action to the end and great video. Enjoyed it immensely, thanks JT!
Fantastic video today JT! ❤😊😊😊😊
Thanks!
I like all your train videos
Great place Carlisle great train action great catch wobble cars great video thanks Jaw tooth and Scott 1960 Gambit
More Great catches? Thank you for sharing and God bless
A great steel train!
You have been fairly busy and lucky the past few episodes, keep on chasing them
Awesome video with a horn salute and a dpu working hard but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
That first train was booking fast, that last car was wobbling. Great videos JawTooth
In the truck hauling game, running doubles, the all lightest trailer went on the back and danced some. Hence the moniker 'Kite'😊
Nice salute on the first train!
Indeed!
It's supposed to hit Jacksonville and the Tampa Bay area. It went North to the Florida arm pit and missed SWFL. I can't wait to watch the trip from West Virginia
Loved the video! Loved the empty coal train with the two engines changing tracks in front of you... that was nice or what! Love the pets at the end, and the drawings... good show!!!
JT! _Thank You_ for pausing at the "Hysterical" (Historical) markers. In our family we always get hysterical when we see these because we are all history buffs and we stop to read them on trips! 😊💜
My pleasure!
The train coming of the siding was filmed at a GREAT angle. Great shot!
Trains, trains and more trains. Great video. Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Really like your train videos. When I want to unwind with some simple entertainment, I watch one or two. You might consider recording in Davenport, IA where trains run between a large farmers market and a minor league baseball stadium. The market is best on Saturdays June through August. The tracks were recently raised three feet so trains could run when the Mississippi River floods. There is a car traffic bridge with a sidewalk where you could get elevated shots of trans coming at you. Another interesting site close by is a glass pedestrian bridge over the tracks.
JT, Speaking of derailment videos, I was curious how fast can you run? The number 1 spot for derailments is usually at a switch point and watching that train come off that switch to the main rail, at a high rate of speed, is the first thought in my mind! But, I guess "Danger" is your middle name to get the ultimate shot! Excellent job their, Son!
I get the ultimate shot at any cost! Lol
I wondered the same thing. What happens if the trucks derail at the back?
@@helenbailey8419um, 2 options: 1. You get hit by the rail car or 2 you run for your life
This is just poor risk estimation. You are in _much_ more danger standing at the side of a road than you are standing by a railway line. If somebody posted a video of themselves walking down a sidewalk, nobody would comment "OMG, what if a car comes off the road and hits you!?" Yet post a video of yourself standing by the tracks and you're pretty much guaranteed to see a bunch of "What if it derails?" comments.
As for switches being the most common -- or, rather, least incredibly rare -- place for derailments, that's true. But the risk -- tiny as it is -- is mostly at facing points, not trailing points. At a trailing point, where the lines are converging, there's not much that can go wrong: even if the switch isn't quite set properly, the force of the train coming around the curve tends to push the switch blades against the stock rail, keeping them in place. There's even a thing called a "spring switch" that exploits this: the switch blades are only held in place by a spring and trains can run over the switch slowly when it's set against them. The force of the train going over the switch pushes the points into the correct position. What risk there is, is mostly at facing points, where the tracks diverge. If a facing point isn't set properly, you can have one wheel go one way and the next go the other, causing a derailment. In the UK, on higher speed lines, facing point switches are fitted with mechanical locking mechanisms to mitigate this risk.
Well said. We all want JT safe so he can continue his good work.
Always love seeing a DPU! ❤😊😊
😊 Mr jaw tooth you was in the right place at the right time this mixed freight of Norfolk southern train
That was an awesome train, and man were they going fast for a steel train!! 😊😊😊❤❤ Great catch JT!
Thank you very much!
Another great video, JT.
Great catches and excellent video Jaw tooth
That one was doing the shake rattle and roll, nice set of catches there throughout the day. Thanks for sharing take care
Thanks for watching
Always another great video. Loved that horn welcome
Thanks again!
Seeing those steel coils makes me remember the trucking I worked for
I've learned that locomotives have cruise control on them. The train knows when to slow down and speed up. That is very cool stuff.
I really enjoy your videos. When I was young I started countjng cars. Istill do.
That is awesome!
I think that was hunting oscillations making the rear car shimmy back and forth. You can read Wikipedia about hunting oscillations. It's one of those physics things.
Thanks for the videos, JT. I never miss one. I had a cat that literally hated bubbles. She would growl and hiss and run.
Looked like hunting to my very amateur eye, too.
except there was no harmonics at all, especially to the oscillation. for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. the rail car was hopping, the oscillation you are describing is the side to side sway trying to find center balance while going left to right left to right. and after blowing this up into theater mode at 2k i can see it in multiple other cars since backing up to before the coil cars and that section of track past the trees and towards the end of the stacked pile of ties towards jaw tooth is bad as nearly every empty car exhibited these motions. yep after backing video up to locomotives and beyond 2:25 rail car nyc331258. right after a minor dip in the track from what i can see especially with the steel loaded cars just past the tie pile within 50 or so feet. again at ny631383 and almost every other car there after with some minor or major hopping leading up to the coil cars.
there seems to be some sort of hard rise bump right where the tall weeds next to the track end making this more pronounced as with nyc631025 it seems to show the prevalence
JawTooth 👍🚂
Another great video
Stay safe
Great action. Love the bouncing car on the end.
Great catches.I liked the empty coal train switching over to the other tracks.
The wobbling car reminded me of the KCS RR going through town in the days before the welded rails. We would sit at a crossing and watch the top of the boxcars and they were wobbling so bad back and forth we thought they were going to fall over. By the early '80s, SWEPCO built a coal plant and KCS rebuilt their rail bed to handle the coal cars as they went from through town to the plant. Thanks for the video.
You'll be at 300,000 subscribers and no time MR Jaw Tooth 🦷 I have been subscribed to your channel now for a few years and I have had about 11 people subscribe to your channel so far 12 including myself. We love your personality especially wait there's more I love it how that video almost ends and you always have something good at the end of your videos. I hope you and your doggie and kitty cats are doing well. I wish the best for all of you. God bless y'all
Good afternoon I enjoyed the video👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great catches Jaw Tooth!! And such a nice town. I don't know why, but I love trains that go through the crossings. I especially miss the wishbone gates, but they would never hold up with the drivers that crash through them. I was watching one that showed the view looking down the tracks and the wishbone gate wobbled a little as it was rising. Oh well. Have a nice day 😊🌈
I love watching your videos. Thank you so much.
Glad you like them!
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Awesome video again JT!!!!
Thanks for the video! Shake rattle and roll!
Thanks for watching!
It's been a while since we've seen a single engine rather than a double.
Carlisle, OH, is a charming place for your expert railfanning, J.T.. Regarding the long Norfolk Southern train - you said you were lucky, but I've told you, for years, that you are a train magnet, and your fans really appreciate it. Say, why are there two different "W" signs at 17:00 on your video?
I’ve ridden a few cars that suffered from trucks that hunted. It usually only happens at speeds of 50mph or more and with empty cars. I thought a box car I rode in 1974 had derailed it shimmied so badly. That last car was a fairly slight shimmy compared to how bad it can be. I think there is an old Santa Fe video on TH-cam that shows extreme hunting. It can definitely derail a train! Thanks for the video.
Great horn salute
Great catches ! My MA ask me to add she loves your shirt . Thank you for the videos.
Always awesome videos and watching enjoying too and enjoy the side show too 🚂🚂👍😃😎♥️ AWESOME Jaw Tooth ❤
Puppy is growing FAST!
Wow - that was a wobbly car! No one saw that in the yard I am sure. Maybe there will be a visual inspection on their route and someone will catch it and report it :) One long coal train there and a lot of the cars were making noise as they passed by. I couldn't tell if it was the jointed rail section or what, but it was cool!
I think the car was hunting -- it's an oscillation that sets up because of the conical profile of the wheels. If a truck gets pushed to the right, then the wheels on the right side are running on a wider part of the cone and the wheels on the left are on a smaller part. So the truck naturally steers to the left and corrects itself. Somethimes, thinks get out of whack and the truck steers itself too far and overcorrects. Then it's over on the left side, so it steers back right, and the oscillation begins. That kind of dynamic behaviour is quite hard to spot when the car's sitting still in the yard. More likely to be picked up on a roll-by inspection or when the train meets another.
Jawtooth your videos are exceptional
Hey jaw tooth cool trains . It be cool to have a house between the 2 tracks. Have a great railroad day 🙋♀️
The NS was a cool train too! Mixed freights usually have a nice variety of freight like this one. Very interesting. 😊😊
I love all trains but my favorites are CSX, NS, UP, CP, Buffalo Southern, ELS
Great videos even the wobbly car hi to the furry family members keep the videos coming
The person in the red car waiting for that third train was thinking....10 seconds earlier. A lousy 10 seconds and I would have been past the crossing!!
. 13:55 train hit that switcher at a fairly good clip.
Figured it would slow down a whole lot more, but it didn't.
. *_"VERY NiCE"_* 😊
OUTSTANDING VIDEO. Could you add the frequencies to monitor the trains in the area you are at in the information? That first train was flat out hauling 👍
Wonderful video! I liked it, greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thank you very much!
Good Morning Jaw Tooth.
Another brilliant video
Cool NS train with the bare tables
Great video again today, good trains. Giant puppy is funny.

Great video Brian!
Any one see the cars at the beginning of the video on the wrong side of the road? Great video as always Jaw Tooth!
Pretty sure that was me on the B522. Couldn’t make it out if that was your or not. Got my answer
That second train looked like the same one that came through Mentor Oh. It had all the Amazon containers up front too 😊
Oh cool!
A weeble wobble. Happy Wednesday, I think?
That first train was bookin like the engineer AND the conductor had full bladders and the "facilities" were out of order!! Good videos JT!! That hopping car? Did it sound like one with square wheels? I did not notice that!
You got that right!
A lot of sheet steel headed somewhere. Cars and cars with it .
keep up the good work
L😂L Doggie looking for a bubble that was pretty cute. 😅
