  • Epic day hike and climb along the PCT out of Snoqualmie pass. First a steep climb up to Kendall peak, and then on to one of the most famous sections of the WA portion of the PCT, the Kendall Katwalk. The views of the Snoqualmie pass mountains are incredible, enjoy!
Warning: this trail features steep drop offs and potentially fatal exposure, as always hike at your own risk.

This is a great hike during the week. If you get off exit 47, go to the day-use area, you can park there take Curtis Trail under hwy and go up to the lake on the other side, way better than parking and driving up the crappy road on the other side. Way. You drive out up Denny Creek and it literally comes out at this TH. Its entrance is directly across the road. Great internet since you next to the Hwy. 12 miles in and out. I go to Esmeralda Basin now. CLoser than driving to here, went here when living in Issaquah.

You have 13 hours or more daylight! Just take food water and go slow. This is an absolutely great viewpoint. Best one I have been on here other than Rainier. Mount Stuart over Longs Pass is another one, maybe the prettiest Mountain view I have seen. As for stand-alone view dominated by a peak. It blew me away and I have worked at Yosemite/Rocky/Yellowstone/BLM/Teton. Snoqualmie pass has awful services take your own food drinks stuff. The heat is blistering off dark rocks in late summer, its exposed, sunlight, you want an over and under layer, you can start early blow through the first 4 miles to top but then by afternoon your photos will be into west Sun. I get there at 9-930am go up. Take em on way up.

So far this trail has been my favorite view of Rainier. For a closer view of Rainier I do Chinook Pass, go to the top of Naches Peak or over Pass then to the lake, you can take your dogs across sourdough it is Forest Service. Always exit 47 and drive the scenic route to PCT TH. Winter, it is closed. Stop at the rock 300 yards before going under I90. It is the double falls. Ashael Curtis TH is on the Denny Creek side of I90, the one at Humpback Creek and up to the lake is down that crap road. Go to Denny Creek side walk down the river and cross under I90. It is a short but great walk over, the trail on both sides has road noise but is well worth walking especially with dogs and kids. If the river and creek are running it blocks road noise.
Snow Lake is also here as is the Asplendal SKi area, if you keep walking up instead of to the lake you can summit peaks and still see snow lake from some summits.
If you go to Ingalls Pass/Esmeralda Basin/Longs Pass/Lake Galagherhead I camp at Deroux. I like Longs Pass the best because of the old road going down on the other side. Makes it easy to go down to the base of Stuart/the Creek or out Bean Creek? Great Loops in the area.
