- Another gorgeous year in Washington! Many goals and dreams achieved this year and I had a blast exploring a lot of new places. It was hard to pick the highlights but I managed to narrow things down to my top 5 trails with a few honorable mentions.
Let me know which trail was your favorite below. And have a happy new year!

This is the best 2024 recap list. I've enjoyed your videos so much this year and, although we seemed to only be a week or two apart on many of your hikes, I never bumped into you. I hope your 2025 is even better!
I really liked your video on Little Giant Pass. That is on my list for 2025. Perhaps a birthday present to myself for my 40th birthday!
One of my favorites this year that I don't see much discussion about was Mount Margaret. Relatively easy for a mountain hike of its size, beautiful view, saw so much wildlife and had so many berries, and the sunrise was so nice all within the grasp of I-90. Also, Kendall peak and the Katwalk was ablaze in fall colors. Hard to choose favorites!
Hi Bonny.
I am really enjoying you videos. You are a badass when it comes to hiking and climbing, but you seem to have such a gentle spirit.
Thank you so much for the kind words
Nice vid Bonnie, added some of these to my to do list for 2025. Keep up the good work.
Awesome! have fun out there
Thanks for this 2024 'best of' list; I'm putting some of these on my plans for 2025. Thanks for the great videos all year! So beautiful here in Washington State. I'm looking forward to where all you visit in 2025. Happy trails.
Oh I hope you have fun when you visit, have fun out there in 2025!
Thank you. What a great list, and I love your videos.
I did my first backpacking overnight in 2024 to Dewey Lake. It was great, and I can't wait to do another.
Awesome! That's a good one to start with, can't go wrong with the lakes here. There are so many cool places you can backpack in the alpine lakes wilderness
My favorite videos of all time are your mountain summits (Black Peak and Mt. Daniel). This year Mt. Maude was a highlight!
My favorite trails explored this year were Jade Lake, Robin Lakes, Cascade Pass and Sahale Arm and Maple Pass Loop. Absolutely love your channel! You have inspired me to make Black Peak a goal this Fall.
Those are all incredible hikes, so glad you got out there!
The mountain summits are my favorites too
Love the end of year review! I will agree that "Heliotrope" was a pleasant surprise.
My favorite hike of the year was - Royal Basin & Royal Lake.
Aim for 2025 - Preacher Mountain via Rainy Lake
Amazing, funny I have both of those on my list as well!
Thanks for all the hiking ideas and inspiration
Happy new year! Thanks so much for a recap of your escapades! My girlfriend and I will be visiting early to mid summer and would be awesome to know the best time to climb in each wilderness area you explored! Happy trails!
A lot of the places in Washington's alpine do not melt out until early to late July(Depending on the year) so if you come earlier than that prepare for at least some amount of snow.
I would say the best time to climb is august - September, but you do need to be wary of wildfire season. Every year is different so that's harder to predict
Best of luck planing your trip!
Happy new year. Thanks for sharing again.cheers from sacramento, california
I SO APPRECIATE YOUR ADVENTURES, THANK YOU. I AM TOO OLD TO ENJOY WHAT WA HAS TO OFFER, AM SO GLAD I VENTURED WHEN YOUNGER. AND IT WAS SO ENJOYABLE TO FEED THE "CRITTERS" ON THOSE HIKES. HEY, GOD SAYS TO FEED THE CRITTERS AND I LOVE DOING IT. THANK YOU!
Happy New Year
What a cool list! I have done so many Washington trails but never any of those. You’ve inspired me!
My favorite alpine hike this last year was out of Washington (Canada actually….. Nelson area Selkirk) but trail on AllTrails is called Gibson Lake to Keen Lake, Kaslo lake and Garland Lake.
There is a beautiful cabin that you can reserve, either entire huge cabin, or rent a bunk in cabin for like $15!!! Stunning alpine areas.
Happy New Year see you on trail!!
I would love to get up into Canada some day, it looks stunning up in the alpine there.
My top 5 of 2024
1. enchantment traverse with summiting dragon tail peak
2. black peak
3. pea soup and jade lake
4. Mount Daniel
5. chikamin peak
Those are all badass, congrats!
@@wanderingwashington I decided to go to black peak and mount daniel after watching your TOP trail of 2023 last year. Actually I went to all the top 5 trails you mentioned in 2023 :)
What a great video, and so inspiring! Just put Heliotrope Ridge and Winchester Mountain on my list for 2025! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Have fun out there, those are both gorgeous hikes!
Thank You!!....Im super stoked !!! Im planning a trip this year for late summer early fall , Lord Willing .....Washington is my favorite mountain state
Oh that's amazing, I hope your trip planning goes well. The mountains here are worth it!
I believe the road up to Winchester Mountain and Yellow Aster Butte got washed out this fall. It's just as well as it needed a complete makeover anyway.
Yeah I heard about that, hopefully it can get repaired sometime in spring so people can get back up there (with some improvements to the road ofc)
Old Snowy Mountain
I have had this on my list for a while, it looks like such a fun climb, glad you got up there!
