I just can't wrap my head around the fact that any other filmmaker/youtuber alive would have sold this 3 hours information through a masterclass or course for at least 300$ but you just gave it to us for free. @@NavierPatterson hahahaha no you do not, I was the worst student. I just downloaded the video, transcribed it with timecodes using Whisper and then gave the transcript to an LLM. Then all I had to do was ask it to summarise it in a specific way with youtube compatible timestamps.
I am an adult father of 2 working full time and trying to grow as a filmmaker/videographer on the side and this was insanely eye opening. Not only did i watch this all the way through, but I will be re-watching this. I know this will get lost in the thousands of comments but this was more helpful that i think you realize. First time watcher and new sub thank you.
The fact that your channel is under 1M followers is truly incomprehensible. Probably the most underrated channel and content on TH-cam. Thank you for your videos!
Holy crap, I literally had my credit card details inside of MasterClass to take a filmmaking course. Then I just felt like searching on TH-cam to see if I could find a video instead of subscribing to MasterClass, and I am so happy I did because I found this masterpiece. Thank you for saving me $240!
Many TH-camrs or self-proclaimed filmmakers try to lure you to their channels with flashy titles and promises to teach you how to make a film. But when you watch their content, you’re left disappointed-it feels like a trap, full of talk but lacking the real information you need. But with you, it was completely different. I enjoyed every minute of your film. You are genuine, hardworking, and honest. I’ve learned so much from you and continue to learn. You’ve truly inspired me. Thank you for all your effort, for not being selfish, and for sharing such valuable knowledge with those of us still struggling on our filmmaking journey.
Hi Dan, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible tutorial. I watched it in just two days, and I can't even begin to tell you how much I’ve learned from it. Your insights were invaluable, and I promise to apply the things you've taught as I continue on my journey. I've taken the time to write down some key points, and I ended up summarizing your video into five pages of notes! Your dedication to sharing your knowledge is truly inspiring, and it has made a significant impact on me. Thank you once again for all the effort you put into creating such a comprehensive and insightful tutorial. I look forward to learning even more along the way and implementing everything I've gained from your guidance.
Nobody has released such In-depth Video of TH-cam Video creation till date. Your video will definitely help many filmmakers, editors, and aspiring artists. Thank you for your work.
Watched the whole thing, obviously, and drank in every moment, took notes, and I'm sure I will be referring back to parts. What a great resource! As a super green film maker just getting started, this is super inspiring and helpful. Thank you so much Dan!
Took me 2 days but i made it through the video, created a new playlist called 'studying' and am taking my first proper project through this process, i've currently finalised (for now at least) my log line, title, thumbnail & hook. i'm transition from software engineering with no experience and at 29 i felt afraid that it would be too late to become a success (or that i simply wouldn't be able to put in enough time with this old 9-5). After watching this video its sobering, but also gives me hope because i have drive and dedication, and a stubbornness that perfectly suits this craft (and an incredible story that i fought very hard to be able to tell). Thank you for the book recommendations, 'stories that stick' is on its way.
This is the best 'Master' tutorial I have ever watched. This is everything you're looking for to get an insight into how other filmmakers do their work, so you can be confident about your own and know if you're on the right path. You never get the full picture of how it really is, but here you do, and even from the same person and the same film/project! Thank you very much for this incredible tutorial. I really hope it makes other filmmakers comfortable with making more films and following their dreams outside their comfort zone. I've never made a comment like this before, but when people like you take the time to create content like this, it deserves all the respect! 🙏
To handle all the workload that comes with Beast Philanthropy is one thing, but to stay committed to the craft whilst educating hundreds of thousands of others and not missing a beat simultaneously is something I've never seen done before. Incredibly grateful for you, Dan.
I’m convinced this stands as the most impactful, insightful pieces of content on TH-cam right now. A free feature length in depth process covering everything from start to finish, that is both educational and highly entertaining. This is what TH-cam needs more of. Thank you bru! ❤
I’m a Just a guy from Sri Lanka that loves filmmaking and photography. I’m trying my very best to make a name for myself because I love the art of it. I’ve been watching countless TH-cam tutorials trying to understand the key elements of a good filmmaker but I don’t think I’ve ever come across a tutorial so transparent. The fact that every Raw moment was shared and that it was done simultaneously while doing other projects on the go, just showed us how genuine you truly are and your love for the art of filmmaking. I’ve never been drawn to a video like I have with this. And I can promise you will watch this countless more times so I can absorb as much as I possibly can. I am truly grateful for this video Dan❤. Thanking you is simply not enough, so if you ever travel towards Sri Lanka hit me up and i would be more than honoured to show you our little paradise 🇱🇰.
I have never finished a 2hr tutorial before in my life because I just lack patience, but Dan made it so easy and I have never been inspired more to work on my craft.
As an aspiring filmmaker picking up the camera for the first time, it was amazing to see your process and all the details involved in making such high quality videos. Definitely have given me some inspiration.
Dude you could've not posted this at a more perfect time for me. I'm in the process of filming a mega series where I travel to 30 cities in 30 days in Asia and I definitely made time during my crazy itinerary these past few days to watch every bit of this. Thank you so much for working so hard to advance content creation on this platform. You deserve everything coming your way Dan!
I struggle to watch anything for more than 15 minutes, even things I really want to watch and Ive just watched your amazing tutorial. I'm in online education and it's so hard to get decent video and audio made, and now I have so many ideas and new skills to try and also some idea of the incredible amount of work that goes into proper film/video making. You are incredibly generous for making and sharing this - it was clearly an epic project. Thank you so much.
I subscribe to about 150 channels, and Dan, you're the ONLY ONE I turn on the notification bell for. The DOUBLE the work you put in on this one, to explain the process as you go (I'm sure was an interesting exercise to mastering your own process and growing techniques) and all your days and days of hard work is NOT lost on SO many of us in the same field. Fascinating and an inspiration to watch, and worth watching again over time is the even better part. Beyond appreciated! You're awesome Bru!
Absolutely phenomenal Dan!! I’ve been lucky enough to see your journey first-hand and how much of yourself you put into everything you do and the sacrifices that you have had to make. So incredibly proud of you.
This masterpiece does not have nearly enough views for what it's worth, Dan's passion for filmmaking can be felt throughout the entirety of this video and it is truly inspiring. If you are reading this; know that YOU have inspired us. I've lived without a dream for long and yet today I feel a fire burning, I know now that there's nothing I need more in life than to bring people together and that because of this my view of the impossible has broadened; I now see my dream as certainty, foretold, and I am grateful to you for being a step in my change. I have little to none experience but when I make it I'll come back here to thank you again.
Thank you. What a privilege to see you at work. So much. Creativity, care, and an enthusiasm for the process of filmmaking. Instructive. And inspiring.
Dan just wanted to say, as someone who lived in south africa for 17 years growing up. Thank you for being part of something wonderful. You inspire me to tell my stories.
Literally watch it all at one goal. Thanks for the whole process explanation, always a big fan of you Dan! Storytelling bigger than everything 🙌🏻 Blessing from Malaysia!
I am so happy for finding this video on youtube, I learned many things because of this. Definitely it will improve my future film making. Thanks Dan mace for this great effort for making this Video. 🥳🥳
Dan thank you for the countless lessons. How did you make such an amazing story ABOUT a story?! I watched the full nearly 3 hours in one sitting taking notes the whole time. You turned countless unknown unknowns into known unknowns for me; I have a ton of work to do. Thank you for inspiring me. Your art, kindness, and grit are what makes the internet and TH-cam such a beautiful and symbiotic place. Cheers Bru
We are brand new to editing, recording and building a new Podcast in Latin America to talk about idols and provide valuable stories. Watching this opened our eyes to the future and eager to bring valuable content to everyone! Thanks, Dan! You are an absolute legend. Lots to learn, lots to explore, but this content is the best piece of advice and a masterclass at once.
Great film Dan, I appreciate the effort it took to creat a video of how to make a video. Great to see you plugging your product too (BRU Bar). Watched all the way through and to the end 👍🏼
Bru u are a true goosebumbgenerator! This was such a great journey :) also that take on reading a book a week within the time i bindgewatch not even in a week but a couple days is strong!
Hey Dan Thanks for the comprehensive tutorial. I made it untill the end, and if anyone of you out there, want good advice: watch it until the end several times. So much is covered that several passes will help you get information that you might have missed the first time.
Thank you, Dan! your this masterclass video has been a huge help over the past two months, inspiring me and keeping me on track to finish my edits on time. thank you so much
I learned about you during the time that I worked at Capitec Bank. I think it was in 2016 or 2017 that you worked as a director for one of Capitecs campaigns. You're a genius brother and thank you for this amazing tutorial! May you have infinite success further on.
I took so many notes from this, so far I’ve watched it twice. Big Dan Mace fan, thank you for the ridiculous amount of time and effort you just gave away for free!
Hey, great video. In my opinion the biggest problem with TH-camrs now is their lack of strategy. Like they upload everything straight away, and then they run out of ideas. This business is about constant uploading, but not too many times per week (and also after I upload something, I use a bit of Famester to make that piece of content instantly viral and popular). It's better to upload like once or twice per week, and it helps to avoid burn out.
Depends on what type of TH-cam channel you're running. Real estate agents with channels can't wait because our viewers buy or sell houses in between uploading the video
I was looking for a video just like this but for Movies or Tv-Shows, but a Mr. Beast Production is several orders of magnitudes bigger then your average Hollywood production so thanks Dan!
I watched this entire vid to the end and I must say, this has been one of the best filmmaking course video I've ever watched. I feel guilty getting this level of knowledge for free. You are best Dan! We will work together in the future, I'm sure of it😤 Thank you bru ❤
At just 21 years old, this video is completely transforming my future! The storytelling in this film is phenomenal, and it's incredibly inspiring. I absolutely loved every moment of it! Thank you Dan for sharing it!
Hey it's me. **The 100% retention guy**. Watched the entire thing here Dan. What a great video. Every single time I watch your videos, I get inspired and I am not even close to a film maker in any way, honestly. The @36:00 mark was pretty powerful and my first BIG smile came right at @53:00. You almost nailed the "how long is this video right now" time, well done, even as the one that edits it :) I wasn't going to watch the Beast video until this was done, but then @1:59:00 you told me to, so that is what I did. Doing that, added way more context to what you were saying here. The best laugh was when you realized you sent everyone to watch the video and that they might not like it..... The final cut was fantastic. Your hard work comes through in these videos, no doubt, ever. Great work and as always keep on keeping on. You're awesome BRU!
Finished the inter tutorial. This is gold!!! Courses with much less information have been sold for 100$, 200$ or way more. Thanks for this, specially coming from someone talking about documentary style content for TH-cam. 🙌🏼
Dan Yes I have completed the tutorial and learnt a lot a things which I never know even exist! One of the best line of the video is "The point of making flim isn't to make a great edit but to tell a great story" Comment like It is great edit means we have done a poor work. With all this I would like to thank you for making this amazing tutorial and would like to work and lean with you in future.
Increíble tu aporte, hermano Dan. Espero algún día poder tenerte en Bolivia para compartir tu experiencia con jóvenes indígenas cineastas de mi patria. Saludos!!!!
I spent 2 full days siting in front of the tv while writing everithing down in my laptop. I can only say thank you 🙏. As a travel filmmaker Im in a process of not only telling compelling stories, but to optimising for the platform. See you on the road!
Woaaah, thank you Dan! Am going to watch this now, now, now!! Edit: I just finished and this must be the best bts/tutorial I have ever watched!! Thanks for all the hard work you put into it and into beast philanthropy to help the causes. That you are keeping in touch with your community through pieces like that - even after all your success - is absolutely appreciated! And yes, get those BRU bars to Europe. If this was an ad - it worked ;-) :-)) Am backing up my SanDisk-drives now ....!
it's 4:13 AM , just completed the whole lesson. i writing this comment so any one reading this get to know how to get more out of this so so so sooooooo awesome class. Step 1- get on with a pen and notebook Step 2 - turn on the subtitles as it really helps in taking notes. step 3 - take your time to digest the thoughts, concepts or whatever Dan says and write it in efficient manner. It can take upto 8 to 12 hour to effectively finish the lesson. So if you ever feel bored just take a walk for 5 minutes or a short nap or grab some BRU bar as dan says😅 , but Don't Quit. Step 4 : some part of the lesson could be hard to see or you may feel bored but trust me when I say it. THIS IS NOT A VIDEO, IT IS A DOCUMENTARY OF WHAT A FILMMAKER HAS TO GO THROUGH. This awesome video does not only teach you about filmmaking but also let you through the ups and downs of it. So Please DON'T SKIP even 5 second or 10 seconds. I can bet if you follow his teachings you are surely gonna uplift you career. thank you DAN. People like you, make the internet so beautiful.
I just finished the course, and If i could describe the amount of value I got from it in one word, it'll be "priceless" thanks so much Dan i love everything you do and stand for, I've already started implementing the things I've learned from you, and there is indeed an improvement Shout out from Nigeria 🤞
I AM IN TEARS! This video came to me in a complete moment of serendipity. I was all fired up to start my channel on YT and Insta, but didn't know where to start. I was thinking of learning some video editing software to begin with(now I laugh at that thought). And then, I came across a reel on Insta where the guy said "Dan Mace should name this video from mastering the art of filmmaking to mastering the art of content creation." And boy was he right. I watched this video in 3 days, took 10 pages of notes, and learned more than I ever thought I could. Thank you for sharing this knowledge that will help people like me who want to begin filmmaking but don't have the know-how. It has given me clarity on my content creation journey. You are truly an amazing person. I hope I will work with you one day. Godspeed!
You have outlined my thoughts better than I would. This video right here is a GOLD MINE. As someone who had failed once at TH-cam, I am super thankful to have this guide now. I call this - the Holy Grail of content creation.
just finished watching this whole video. I myself am a videographer for a charity and I just came back from filming my first video abroad a week ago. I planned to come back and learn from my experience and this video helped me go through everything step by step. I really appreciate the effort you put in this video and I hope the things I learnt in this video will help me change lives. bru.
I NEVER WANTED TO BE A FLIMMAKER / EDITOR MY friend is obsessed with flimmaking but it never made me do it when this masterpiece video came out and made noise on social media and fortunately i was thinking to learn value skill , THEN I hopped on to youtube started the video and watched till the THE EDIT SEGMENT and stopped for other day ,the other day came on this day and i watched it again with taking notes on everything and now ,im gonna PRACTICE FLIMMAKING because of YOU, THANK U FOR THIS im not gonna lie, i have seen him on caseys video but never discovered his channel
Got to the end of the video Dan. It feels like the magician let me peek behind the veil. Now I understand why my videos are getting 50 views while yours are getting millions. I want to say a big thank you because now I feel like I understand what a real Director does and everything that comes together to make a video that can transform lives. Thank you for all the work and for being an amazing teacher and storyteller. Best wishes to you!🎉
@@Drastic644 CGI is a broad term that is technically all encompassing. Parts of this image look very obviously generative AI to me - As a artist with experience in both generative AI, video editing, & VFX. I'd say with almost 100% certainty its generative AI and a bit of Photoshop kit-bashing other photos together. But, regardless of how its achieved, it's fake.
it’s Ai in photoshop actually :) there’s no scandal here haha. nothing to ‘uncover’ you are filmmakers - it’s so obviously fake. overly so. the hospital wasn’t filmed prior our arrival, so when we arrived the build was like half way done. The hospital was actually in ruins before the restoration began - because it was so remote we had nowhere to source imagery from. but u can see on google earth what it looked like more or less. like a few poles. Jimmy says ‘a few months ago’. besides the video and beast philanthropy’s contribution isn’t about the completion of the hospital. it’s about powering the hospital along with ‘give power’ the org. We also did a bunch of other stuff. this is in no way ‘faking a video’. the other stuff that’s claimed to be ‘fake’ is warp stabilised distortion. i get that not everyone is a filmmaker but i mean come on guys haha.
Your tutorial took me more than a month to watch. Mostly late nights. I don't know what else to say, other than that I'm simply grateful. Thank you Dan for putting so much work into showing us how you work. It's inspirational and motivating to do more. I'm not sure if I could handle so many late nights, but I can definitely think more deeply about the stories that I can tell and about making an edit that keeps my audience watching. I definitely feel that I want to be more creative, and I feel that the art of film is what draws me. But I never thought that what I'm interested in could be shown in a 'cinematic' way. I'll make sure that story is the main vehicle of my films going forward.
Nothing nefarious was done here. it’s so obviously photoshopped lol. i mean the moss on the side etc. No ‘expensive cgi’. If u actually watch the film, it isn’t about building a hospital, but besides that, this hospital is in the middle of nowhere. We had no footage of what it looked like prior. we only arrived 3 months into its restoration, hence Jimmy’s line ‘a few months ago’. at this point i’m like, come on guys.. the fact u as filmmakers can’t see that this was used as a way to create a visual of what the building looked like more or less months before arrival. when speaking to locals they described it as ‘in ruins’ . google earth with show same thing. like a couple poles. most important to note is that this building is not what the film or beast philanthropy’s contribution was about. it’s about solar panels (hence the title). stop nitpicking at everything u can guys. The philanthropy is an incredible organisation. leave it out your drama tea spills or whatever. the other stuff that’s apparently ‘fake’ is warp stabiliser distortion lol. We are a tiny editing team and don’t have all the tools so not everything is perfect.
@@DanMaceif you actually watch the video of him talking about the hospital he basically says “we’re going to run power to the NEW hospital. He’s making it seem like to everyone that he is building a new hospital and not restore it. Why instead of “blurring” it out you leave it in and say we’re gonna make this look a little nicer for everyone? But instead remove that hospital part and keep mentioning how it’s new. It’s not new it’s literally got a fresh coat of paint. Sure maybe it was more then just paint but come on why hide the hospital with effects, obviously to make everyone believe Jimmy just built a new hospital but isn’t talking about that because there’s no point that’s not big enough to mention.
@@DanMace obviously. They told you how to edit it you did and everyone will be oblivious to the fact he’s making a subtle idea that the hospital isn’t there, and then magically at the end there’s the building that wasn’t there when he first showed it… so people automatically say “WOW Mr beast is such a good guy he built this new hospital.” Even though the video wasn’t fully based on the building of the hospital.
This is insane! I'm currently working in South Sudan and some of my colleagues have been asking me to teach them how to edit. I've just given them all this film, the amount of people this will help is crazy your genorisity in giving this out for free is noble beyond words!
Made it to the end, I truly admire your work. Very wise and knowledgeable. Applied many of your tricks and just got a video to 1.2 million views. Thank you!!!
God bless you Dan. You’re giving your knowledge for free, you’re the testament to all things that is good in the world. It’s surreal to have this for free! God bless you my man! ❤
Went through this whole video in one go. I will definitely be watching it again. There is so much to unpack. I never went to film school, but I love video. So getting such a deep dive into the whole production cycle is incredible! This is the place to start for anyone wanting to learn on their own!
I finished this masterclass in 2 days time and took comprehensive notes to add to my workflow. Thank you soo much for the lessons and some of these tips made a big difference to how I will shoot, edit, and create.
I watched this to the end. Took 2 days, and I love it. Salute to the dedication you've put into this video Dan, respect! I've gotten so much exposure and knowledge to the filmmaking process than I have ever gotten in 1 piece of video content. Thank you so much, Dan!
just started by editing journey 1month ago saw so many video on youtube still i was not able to understand what are things that i need to prepare before editing any kind of video thankyou for helping me through this video. i just watched this tutorial in one go this was just like a Interstellar movie , enjoy a lot and learned a lot THANKYOU DAN❤
Truly a masterpiece it's crazy how I'm seeing someone edit such a extensive video then also make a video about it and explain the basics just mind blowing the amount of work that was put in
I have been editing sort content 10 months now, and I would love to transit to youtube editing, I love the way you have explained and the reality of the procest, it is not easy to be an editor, and ever more difficult to be the editor of the biggest channel on youtube. Thank to you Dan, you are an inspiration for me. Sending you a hug from Spain.
I love oportunities like this, I've been having a huge hunger to learn more about stoytelling, sound design and meshing all kinds of different scenes toghether. Thank you for your time and dedication for this video, it was awesome!
Dan is not JUST a genius, he's an obsessive genius. Grateful beyond words to have someone so committed to excellence telling our story.

I just can't wrap my head around the fact that any other filmmaker/youtuber alive would have sold this 3 hours information through a masterclass or course for at least 300$ but you just gave it to us for free. I don't have enough words to thank you Dan. This is philanthropy. Most impactful filmmaking Philanthropy I've ever witnessed in this platform. Really, I'm without words. Thank you so much.
Thanks @dan! I actually purchased your masterclass (amazing) and happy to see another great product here too. Thanks for sharing
Pero hola vale antonio, tu tambien haces mucho de esto, de regalar informacion increiblemente valiosa, eres lo mas mejor que hay.
Can you imagine the ad revenue if 50% of his viewers watch 50% of this course?
No te hagas...tú también ayudas y enseñas un montón, de gratis bro 🤭
Thanks, this produced much needed positive energy , and lit up many more ideas for me.
Thank you for this video, I'm already using the lessons I've learned to help me make my new videos!

This video was so thorough it required a bookmark so I can view again as needed.
Thanks for this tutorial and comprehensive lesson.
Holy crap, I literally had my credit card details inside of MasterClass to take a filmmaking course. Then I just felt like searching on TH-cam to see if I could find a video instead of subscribing to MasterClass, and I am so happy I did because I found this masterpiece. Thank you for saving me $240!
Ah man that makes me so happy! ❤️

Hi Dan,
I hope this message finds you well.
Went here after watching "We Powered a Mountain" 🎉 I'm glad a BTS video has been released!

I like the way you create your thumbnails bro can you help me
Took me 2 days but i made it through the video, created a new playlist called 'studying' and am taking my first proper project through this process, i've currently finalised (for now at least) my log line, title, thumbnail & hook. i'm transition from software engineering with no experience and at 29 i felt afraid that it would be too late to become a success (or that i simply wouldn't be able to put in enough time with this old 9-5). After watching this video its sobering, but also gives me hope because i have drive and dedication, and a stubbornness that perfectly suits this craft (and an incredible story that i fought very hard to be able to tell). Thank you for the book recommendations, 'stories that stick' is on its way.
do NOT EVER take this video down! Thank you!
Just finnished the whole video in one day. Now I've to rewatch it slowly. It's a masterpiece. Thanks a lot for your effort

Famester?
Depends on what type of TH-cam channel you're running. Real estate agents with channels can't wait because our viewers buy or sell houses in between uploading the video

Step 1- get on with a pen and notebook
Step 2 - turn on the subtitles as it really helps in taking notes.
step 3 - take your time to digest the thoughts, concepts or whatever Dan says and write it in efficient manner.

The evidence of Dan casually showing his use of generative AI / photoshop to over inflate charity efforts starts right here 1:03:24
It’s cgi
@@DanMace you actually replied
@@Drastic644nothing to hide here :)
Crazy how no one has responded to this video after Rosanna’s video. Where is everyone?
@@Maggotbytesi edited and filmed the video. trust me i watched it :)
@@Maggotbytes Its like saying you gave McDonalds meals to the homeless when all you did was give away one fry each.
