If an actor lacks chemistry with their partner on a film, that's not the fault of either of them. That's the fault of whoever was responsible the decision to pair them together.

Don’t they do chemistry auditions? I thought that was a regular thing.

@@maggiekarabel123 They're supposed to, but I can think of a wide variety of stupid things that would short-circuit that process: somebody with clout wants THAT particular star in the picture, a star pays their way in somehow, incompetency at the chemistry audition, time constraints, etc

@@thelionsshare6668 Having an old roommate in the industry, this happens more than one realizes. Some roles pre-picked by producers have killed a lot of movies, and some winners were saved by last-minute changes when the pre-pick had to drop out and the casting director got their choice in. Hollywood politics make DC politics look like a bunch of greenhorns.

Her relationship with Tom Cruise overshadowed the movie. I believe the reason she chose not to return for the sequel and chose the flop Mad Money instead was because Tom Cruise did not want her to return to the role. That decision was the end of her A List status. Her career took a hiatus during her marriage to Tom Cruise and now she trying to rebuild what she had. I am a Katie Holmes fan. Hence The Holiday, Downton Abbey, Four Weddings... Notting Hill. The types of films and series which, if watched would give the viewer diabetes.

It sounds like Thomas Kretschmann wasn't "monotone." I don't think you're using that word correctly. It sounds like his natural vocal register just conflicted with the frequency of mechanical sound effects. That's frequency masking. It has nothing to do with how expressive a person's voice is.

I actually loved A Thousand Words. I also believe that Eddie Murphy was the perfect man for the lead. What's more, Murphy's career as a stand-up comic has led to him saying a lot of words, many of which would later come back to bite him on the butt. I love the symbolism and the message.
Far too many words are being said nowadays without concern to how they'll be received by friends or adversaries, or how they'll be interpreted later. Everyone needs to calm down, take a step back and make sure what you're fighting for is actually what you're fighting for. More importantly, make sure the people giving you the information that you're fighting over, are actually giving you the full story. I can almost promise you; they are not.

Things we might find acceptable to say right now could become extremely controversial in 20 years. Language changes along with society and it's difficult to tell what words or phrases, with some obvious exceptions, can be construed as being terrible down the road.

Some actors pay a big price for flops totally blamed on them but other actors don't. Robert de niro,al pacino are in so many straight to video just for a paycheck . Also some actors just have to realise they're getting older , so whoever they played before is just played out. Hugh grant and Matthew mcc. are examples of this just change their roles and they're back on top.
