@@jenniferbates2811 Bought a house last year and moved out of my apartment, I can 100% never go back to an apartment, the freedom you get with your own home is just unbeatable. The only difference in payment wise is that when you buy a house, the fees and stuff are extrapolated out with trash and utilities and whatnot, with apartments it's all built into the renting price, my mortgage is also cheaper than my apartment was. Also, you can do both. I don't know why you can't do both? Who taught you money? If you can buy a house comfortably, 100% buy a house, you can still get an IRA/retirement started. I'm editing this to say, the biggest advantage is how much your credit improves when you buy a house, if you maintain your payments and don't miss them, your credit SKYROCKETS, leading to a better financial situation all around, but like I said before, DO NOT buy a house if you can't comfortably afford the monthly payments and possible upkeep. Also, like with apartments, tons of research is needed.
It's not that I'm not financially intelligent. I miss the freedom of an apartment. Even with a fixed rate mortgage. Taxes go up every year, property taxes, fire taxes utilities...etc. So you really never "own" your house. Even if you bought your house outright, if you can't pay the property taxes the city takes your house. It's different for everyone. Enjoy your home 🏡💙.
I look at owning a house like rent that I will eventually get some refund on. Renting is easier, and I did it for a long time. But I like the idea of SOME of the many thousands of dollars I spent coming back to me.
F*ck!! This hits hard! We got our house like 5 years ago. Never get a ARM! Those are prison mortgages. Try not to live within an HOA because we're grown ups now. I miss renting soooo much!
Well there goes any desire I had of owning a home, not that I had much to begin with, seems like a lot of extra worth and cost for not much reward besides an asset and prestige
@@danlevesque5437 Alternatively, you could do a reverse mortgage if you really need to. Or you could sell when moving in with kids and help cover some of their costs. Or you could have it sold as part of your will. There's actually quite a few nifty options you could plan for.

Fun fact, it comes from french : "mort" means dead (how fitting) and "gage" is an old word for "pledge", so the "t" in the middle does mean something. Yes, I'm French and fun at parties xD
@@luguinch.mp4 so it literally means you pledge to pay the bank until you die, lol nice
Because - French
It’s adding an extra letter, like they add extra costs
@@luguinch.mp4 so it literally means "dead pledge?" Like "you're (financially) dead after you make this pledge"? Or what?
"I can't believe our friends didn't help, I offered them little ceasar's" lmaooooo
🍕
Hahaha. Yuck. 🤣
As someone who owns a truck, I've lost track of how many people have asked me to help move, only to laugh at them when I pull away because the boxes are not packed.
“I can’t fertilize the yard, let alone, you”😂😂
"I know it's a fixer-upper, but honey it'll be a nice bonding experience, we'll put in a offer!"
And that my friends was Chip and Joanna's origin story
That part about closing in 2 months and lease ending in less time is so accurate. I’m so happy my mom was my agent bc she went above and beyond. However, those inspections don’t help enough. All furniture is never available when you need it. We bought right before covid and there was still delays in shipments.
The emailing a docusign part 🤣
AMEN!!!!!
Oh man, moving day was a nightmare! I remember both of us looking at each other tearing up, it was endless, things just keep turning up! Thanks to the moving people calming us down and pushing us to finish it in one day 😅😂
And this is why I'm glad I'm a minimalist, currently renting, but when I moved in, I only did one trip of moving, then again where I live in it was already furnished so, yeah!
Just moved in to my new house this weekend. 100% accurate.
Congratulations on your new house 😊
🏠
Congrats
In the process of moving this week - 11 weeks in escrow purgatory, electrical & water problems already, but hey! We closed! Committed to 30 years of ungodly payments after spending only a half hour on the property 3 months ago, it was "Make an offer or it will be gone", $30K over the appraisal...... Trey was right on and hysterical.
As someone currently in the process of buying my first home and closing in two weeks this was insanely accurate and sad.
Why is no one questioning his 'Dad and boujee' pillow? lol
I know, right?! Lol
That had me dying
Lol 😂 I did haha
Like, what does that even mean? What is the story behind it? And...why? So many questions.
I just accepted it as something he would definitely own.
Trey has taught me more about life than life itself. Amen.
“You’re going to make 15-20 Grand to send a DocuSign?!?” Hahaha!!! Sums up realtors!!!
As someone working in real estate, this couldn't have been more true!
Closed on our house a month ago. Doesn’t feel like we’ve made any progress 😩 and I never wanna see paint again. Drain after drain clogs and needs replaced. Hopefully we can relax on a weekend soon.
Until you finished, fam: I congratulate you on your home purchase.
At least you painted. Haven't even gotten there & don't want to think about it lol
@@nicolegreene2208 thank you!
@@Beetrice The walls were bad 😬 Previous owner was a smoker it seems
Closed on a house 2 years ago and I don’t feel like I’ve made any progress! I absolutely hate paint as well! I’ve come to the realization that I won’t be completed with all my DIYs until I’m retired, that’s when I’ll get to come home and finally have nothing to do!
That time in between when you close on the house and when the lease is up is a BEAST
You just made me feel SO much better about signing another years lease on my apartment..Thanks Trey! 👍🏼
Literally me
I'm moving in October. It's about time for a 3br/2.5ba. And if I(for some reason) decide I still want a condo, I always have one that my dad bought and is renting out lol
We just renewed our lease 🤣
Exactly! 😂
As a landlord, another round of thanks :D
"And... now that you've signed your life away, lets review every single payment you will make... every month... for the next 30 years... so that the shock of what you've done can haunt your dreams..."
Right! They literally gave me a sheaf of papers with every payment listed for the next thirty years and I am like whaaaaaat why
Me: *laughs nervously in renter*
I feel this has been more educational about buying a house than anything I have found.
I've been taking on the responsibility of my parents house that was built in the 50's half the appliances are broken the house is held together by duct tape and spite. But hey we have a yard... that I have to cut in 90+ degrees and is overgrown. Having a house is just constant work and just dealing with broken stuff.
Thank you! I’ve been wondering how in the world my elderly parent’s 50’s house is still standing, it’s the spite!!
At least you have one. Your house would probably sell for over 500k cash where I live.
"Having a house is just constant work and just dealing with broken stuff." Yes 100%
As a new homeowner this month, I couldn’t agree to a video any more 😂. No matter how different you think you are, someone has went through the same shit you’ve gone through.
Haha, I'm an unemployed 24 year old with a Master's degree who's living with her parents! Hahahahahah..
...I just want to have an apartment, man, it doesn't even need to be good...
most cities have 1 bedroom apartments for like $600/month
What your degree in?
I've lived in the same apartment for over ten years. When people ask me why, I tell them how first cheap my rent is. They get it then. 😂
Alyssa Hayes, any apartment for $600 a month in any city doesn't sound good for a 24 year old female lol
A decent place to live is at least $1,000
Sad
I thought he was about to ask Alexa when trash day is😂
This is too true. My husband has gone through these stages. He wanted to “get a trailer for our stuff, move into an apartment, flip & sell” with our 2nd child on the way after the 1st year.🤦🏽♀️
Sometimes you just have to chill out, count your blessings & remember why you settled for your home in the first place (for us, school district!)😅
The last 11 years have been a litany of DIY projects. I feel for ya. It only took a decade to get my home how I want it to be. Cheers Trey!
“Just do not expect the owners to fix anything or you will loose the house” literally so true
Wow I actually think I don’t want a house anymore after this lmaooo
We got our house 4 months ago and OMG! How accurate this is. I thought the 3 weeks homeless was only us but this is everyone apparently.
“I can barely fertilize the yard let alone you.” I died a little
The inspection "just a fun way to find out how badly you screwed up"!!!!! Best line ever
Oh my gosh, we are going through this right now. So relatable!!!!
“You can’t wait to start a family in this house? Look at how many weeds are in the yard! I can’t fertilize the yard let alone you”
Oh my fricking gods yes!!!
“The apartment was $1200 a month”
Me: *looking around at my $2300/month one bedroom with a broken shower and windows that don’t open* Why did YOU MOVE?!
He lives in a LCOL area. You probably live is a HCOL area and get paid more. Anyways hopefully you can get a place that is cheaper for you 🙂
$1200 per month are Texas apartment prices. Literally anywhere else is going to be higher cost.
@@kathleenramirez2379 Howdy! Another Texan here!
@Kathleen Ramirez. Texas isn’t the only place with (relatively) cheap rent. I rent a three bedroom, two bathroom with an office and detached garage for $1200. Granted, the median wage around here is less than you would make in the city but I’ll take it over a cramped city apartment.
@@wdwgirl9206 Yes. Like we mentioned if LCOL areas 🙂 I am applying you're enjoying your apartment!
The most accurate TH-cam sketch in history.
So close to 1 million! Let’s get Trey to 1 million! Go go go
We've been in our house 7 years, and the projects and repairs haven't stopped 😱
"A fun was to see if you screwed up". Yep, pretty much defines an inspection!
In my 18 years of life, my family has gone through ALL of this and lots extra - including our realtor actually stealing our house that she was selling for us.... Oh, and moving into a house filled with toxic black mold, only to be moved to another place that was infested with fleas. Now we’re finally settled in a nice old house that took lots of work, stress, and rehabbing- but very well worth it in the end. Quite the adventures we’ve had 😂
I'm at the stage where I'm annoyed that my monthly payment increases every year because of increasing taxes and whatever the heck else.
Yeah but rent goes up every year also and depending on what state you live in you can be paying more to rent over the long haul than buying. Mortgages end at some point.
@@STMARTIN009 Totally agree with you.
@@zachbonebrake352 I hear you though. Got a house one year ago and the homeowners insurance and car insurance went up so I raised the deductibles on both. To keep them both roughly the same.
I went through this whole scenario when getting into our house! Trey you are always on point with your videos! I love the parts where you showed frustration and tears! Ahhhhhh, such sweet memories!!
This hurts my entire soul. This depicts our first time buying a house perfectly.
Oh God, it was too soon to watch this after buying my house. Still not over the trauma of going to see a home and finding out halfway through the showing that it's under contract now. 😭😭😭
My mother is a realtor. This is called, "Accurate".
I'm a notary and help with executing the closing. Man, the accuracy of the new homeowners' exhaustion is astounding. I just listen to them and let them get their frustration out. It almost makes me worry for buying my own home soon.
Suddenly my apartment doesn’t seem so bad lol 😂
In the middle of buying a house right now. Just did the appraisal. Super stressed. This all sounds about right.
My Alexa on my tablet responded when Trey was speaking to his Alexa 😂
I can sooo relate!! Our realtor was the worst & didn't even get us a crappy gift😂! She just got her completely undeserved commission check & bounced
Trey has done it again ladies and gentlemen 👏👏👏
Omg we just bought a house and THIS. ALL OF IT. So true, can’t even begin.
I can't wait for the Girls in the Summer video
as a homeowner, a bit of trolling advice: If you're renting, and your friends with houses keep telling you you're wasting money, ask them what their amortization schedule is.
Lol
Another banger From Trey Kennedy himself
I literally closed on a home last week and now I see this on my feed today. Wild.
Me: a dumb dumb renter.
Also me: yes, this resonates.
Being a renter is sooo much easier! Get your IRA started instead of buying a house!
@@SirenEyeMedia I can understand that. Let's hope the market stays strong.
I closed on a home 3 weeks ago, and this was completely my experience. I will never forget how to spell mortgage now.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣same here
F*ck!! This hits hard! We got our house like 5 years ago. Never get a ARM! Those are prison mortgages. Try not to live within an HOA because we're grown ups now. I miss renting soooo much!
"Yeah just ask the landlord, he'll fix it-"
*sudden terror*
How is he not at 1 Million yet?
I’m sorry Trey but the pillow that says:”Dad and Boujee” is not junk! 😂
Literally never clicked so fast
Vibes are up is officially on repeat until summer ends. Thanks Trey!
“remember how we got this house with a bad foundation, well I think this is a bad foundation for uS”
We just bought a house last fall so I understand this so well! The house hunting part is spot on! lol
Yay! Another vid! So hyped!
As someone who just bought their first house, this is extremely accurate 😂
Well there goes any desire I had of owning a home, not that I had much to begin with, seems like a lot of extra worth and cost for not much reward besides an asset and prestige
And then you loose your home when your too old to take care of it and wind up in a apartment again anyway so what a total waste of life
My uncle was against home ownership, in the early 90s. Today my mom's house is worth about $700K and he's still renting.
@@danlevesque5437 Alternatively, you could do a reverse mortgage if you really need to. Or you could sell when moving in with kids and help cover some of their costs. Or you could have it sold as part of your will. There's actually quite a few nifty options you could plan for.
Going through underwriting and appraisal phase now. I'm so tired of house shopping lmao. This is sooooo relatable 🤣.
