    The video is clear for older AWS layouts. My question is why is it so complicated to add an SSL to a domain? This should happen with a few clicks? I'm totally lost with the new AWS layout. Thank you for you video

    Thank you NKT! this was a clear example. I should know - I've watched about 2 hours worth of bad videos, this one is good. The missing bit which YOU included with setting the route 53 A record to point to the load balancer. It seems obvious now but when you've never done it before - its quite confusing! Well done

  • @Agrossio
    @Agrossio ปีที่แล้ว

    I make it work for a dns service that is not AWS Route 53!! I used cloudns and instead of creating the A type record for the dns alias I made another CNAME with the dns provided for the Balance Loader. That worked for me! :D

    Great video. Very well presented.
    I do have a question though, as I am not familiar with AWS: would the EC2 instance behind the load balancer still be accessible directly over the internet, after doing what you've done? Or does putting it behind the load balancer conceal that server from the open internet? It looks like, with this setup, I will be able to contact both the load balancer and the instance directly over both HTTP and HTTPS. Is that correct?

    • @NKTStudios
      @NKTStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @hesperaux, yes and no. The EC2 instance has a public IP address and therefore it is accessible over the internet. If I had created it without the public IP it would not be. However, remember I did not set up port 22 for SSH so you won't be able to log into the EC2 instance.

      The html "sample" in the instance code - from github - as I understand is to test whether the set up has worked ; this has worked. What Im struggling with now is targeting the http and https through the load balancer. The alias has the right target, the re route to https I beleive is the issue. The verison on your video is different to mine so I just inferred the right steps in the newer interface. If I try to edit the target http, the ability to add action cant be selected ; it can for https though. The difference I've noticed there, is that the https has the certificate attached whereas the http does not. I think that going through the setup again and making sure Ive named everything properly and what not, is the right solution. There are many steps though and, outside of strictly following, its difficult and unclear, for a layman programmer like me, to figure our what to do - this isnt changing an HDMI cable.
      Thanks for the reply and any of your help
