  • Watch as we install a Speedway Motors Complete Front Suspension Kit for 1963-1970 Chevy C10 trucks. This kit includes everything needed to upgrade to disc brakes with a 5 on 5” bolt circle as well as 2” drop springs and 2 ½” drop spindles to get the nose down. Also included are shocks and all necessary hardware, down to the brake hoses and dust caps.
You’ll see that we also installed a set of tubular upper and lower control arms. This install will be the same with stock arms. Also note that care must be taken when removing the stock springs. There will be a lot of tension on these. In our case, we knew they would be replaced with the dropped springs, so we chose to cut them with a torch and remove them in pieces. Also note that an alignment will absolutely be necessary after the install of this kit.

A short front spring is no problem to compress usually, but if you are going OE with the tall spring, here's a trick. Place a decent chain on the floor, lift floor jack nose over it. Wrap chain over top control arm and hook. If you have not bolted the upper ball joint in or have a hole for the top rubber bushing, place a pry bar, or suitable to prevent chain from sliding off the upper. If all goes into place, a block of wood on the jack lift plate will allow you to push the lower control arm high enough to install the steering knuckle & start both nuts. No engine, no front sheet metal and no mother in-law to sit on it will get the job done w/o buying 20 sand bags to stack on the frame. Works!

Do you have a 6 lug rotor? And will a 15” rim fit? Oh and just for clarification, it’ll be a 4 1/2 inch drop in front?
