I had an ex gf who ripped the phone cord out of the wall when i tried to call the police after she started punching me. After ripping the cord out she proceeded to tell me how she would beat herself if i called the cops on her and tell them I hit her. I ran to the neighbors and called a friend to pick me up as we had both been drinking. Domestic shit is scarry. I didn't call the police as I didn't want to risk her actually beating herself up and pinning it on me.
I remember in High School coming home and seeing cop cars at a neighbor's house. My parents phone was ringing off the hook asking if I broke another bone. Nope the dude next door his wife beat the shit out of him. And back then in Texas the guy always went to jail. He was going please take me to jail to get away from her crazy ass. Charges were eventually pressed against her and IIRC she did some time. Granted this was a very long time ago.

I was kind of a victim of domestic abuse when I broke up with my ex-girlfriend. I won't go into the whole story since it's kinda personal but: She threatened me by saying she'd call her family to beat the crap out of me so I called the police while she was forcingly trying to get the phone away from me but here's the thing: The problem with the whole situation was the police didn't seem to believe that I was the victim. Luckilly I was able to move to another city so I didn't recieve any beatings but that whole situation scarred me, it made me paranoid. I don't know if others had to face these kind of problems as well and I really hope they didn't. The police not believing that you're a victim of domestic abuse shouldn't be a thing.

I was falsely arrested before (first arrest in my life) and my bond was set for $25,000. Once they realized that they messed up, I was given my shoelaces back and released from jail. It took me all the power in the world to not sue my county/state. Dudes actually committing crimes and has a bond of $500 for DA. This world is amazing 🙃
The incarceration system itself is pretty disgusting; bonds are damn-near necessary to have a shot at winning your trial. If you can't pay your bond, when the time comes for court and the judge asks what you've been doing since your arrest, all you can really say is you've been a good little prisoner and made your bed every day while waiting. Bonds allow people to get out and do _something_ , like helping people with jobs, getting therapy, doing charity work, or anything that'll give them a better shot during their trial. If the judge sees you're open to atonement outside of rotting in a cell, they're substantially more likely to award you a lighter sentence or even let you off entirely (depending on the crime's severity). It's essentially pay to win in that case. God bless America!! (Not really)

I was kind of a victim of domestic abuse when I broke up with my ex-girlfriend.
I won't go into the whole story since it's kinda personal but: She threatened me by saying she'd call her family to beat the crap out of me so I called the police while she was forcingly trying to get the phone away from me but here's the thing:
The problem with the whole situation was the police didn't seem to believe that I was the victim. Luckilly I was able to move to another city so I didn't recieve any beatings but that whole situation scarred me, it made me paranoid.
I don't know if others had to face these kind of problems as well and I really hope they didn't. The police not believing that you're a victim of domestic abuse shouldn't be a thing.

I was falsely arrested before (first arrest in my life) and my bond was set for $25,000. Once they realized that they messed up, I was given my shoelaces back and released from jail. It took me all the power in the world to not sue my county/state. Dudes actually committing crimes and has a bond of $500 for DA. This world is amazing 🙃

The incarceration system itself is pretty disgusting; bonds are damn-near necessary to have a shot at winning your trial. If you can't pay your bond, when the time comes for court and the judge asks what you've been doing since your arrest, all you can really say is you've been a good little prisoner and made your bed every day while waiting.
Bonds allow people to get out and do _something_ , like helping people with jobs, getting therapy, doing charity work, or anything that'll give them a better shot during their trial. If the judge sees you're open to atonement outside of rotting in a cell, they're substantially more likely to award you a lighter sentence or even let you off entirely (depending on the crime's severity).
It's essentially pay to win in that case. God bless America!! (Not really)

Same shit happened to me except i had to serve all the time… shit was only 2 weeks but 2 whole wasted weeks of just gone from my life. Even if he has committed this crime he still deserves due process but 500$ bail over all of that is extremely relaxed over domestic charges if you ask me

She wrote the statement (on Friday) but came Monday her husband (my brother in law) drove her on down to the police department so she could withdraw her statement before the district attorney could file charges. I get it though. They live together. These situations usually get worst before they get better.
