    Quick tip-in some instances, capacitors will still store a whollop of power even after the machine has been unplugged and the PSU switched off. You can manage that by-after the PSU itself is off-depressing the power on button for a count of fifteen or twenty.

    This was a gem of a video, cheers! Specially as you specified that the cables had to be pulled with strenght. It's a little detail, but I would have been too scared of breaking things if I didn't know that 😄

      That's why I've been terrified to do this myself. One time I damaged my wife's old PC because I pulled too hard on the heat sink without realizing
      there was another clip that had to be disconnected first. Because of that I literally have PTSD when it comes to replacing any hardware with PCs.

    Thank you so much! I’ve never installed anything on my PC before and this video helped me out a lot!
    Took me like an hour to do cause I accidentally unplugged some things, but I was able to find out what was unplugged quickly. Could probably do it again in 20 minutes or less.
    This video is the best. Short and straight to the point without irrelevant information.
    To anyone worrying about messing something up if it’s your first time, don’t worry and just do all the research you can!
    This is a very simple task, and if I can do it, anyone can do it!

      Gotta replace my prebuilt’s psu since my computer keeps restarting at random intervals whether I’m gaming or just browsing the internet. Just random. First it will flicker my rgb fans then restarts. Hopefully a new psu will fix this problem if not I gotta call the idiots from ibuypower

      @@-wokhead Nah, the other components were unaffected. Mine's a prebuilt, but it came with an EVGA power supply, which thankfully did its job in preventing other components from being damaged.

    Disconnecting cables is pretty hard and nervous since trying to get them off makes me feel like I will mess it up. It was pretty hard getting the old psu out. the cable managment was bad(it was built by the previous owner). Getting a new psu tomorrow.

    Just watched this video to switch out a 500w power supply for a 750w.(Yes, it was pre-built) Everything works perfectly! Just need a bigger tower for better cable management... So switching out a Power supply, the only connections you need to worry about is the:
    CPU connector(To motherboard)
    PCIe connectors(To graphics cards, etc.)
    24-Pin PSU connector(To Motherboard)
    All hard drives need a SATA connector to be powered from the PSU.
    That's it? That's easy. The only annoying/iffy bit is cable management. But other than that, easy peezy!

      I got the same issue with one of my pcs, Prebuilt with a 1660s gpu + 500w psu, I was gonna get myself a 3060ti but realised i would have to buy a 750w just to be safe with the watts

    I'm upgrading to an RTX 3090 and it needs a 750 watt PSU. So upgrade time. Question though... why now just unplug the cords at the PSU and leave everything else connected? It seems like it'd be so much easier. Nice video - thanks.

      Yes they do! The only cable there ever might not be enough of is the PCI-E cable. Some lower wattages don't come with more than one

    My old PSU (550W bronze) gave out mere months after I got my pre-build and after much research, we got a 600W gold. This video saved me!! Thank you so much! My pc doesn't shut off anymore and all is good!

    Can't stress enough on replacing all the psu cables if swapping out a modular psu. Many builders don't realize the wiring can vary between even the same manufacturer 's psu lines. This mistake often leads to frying components in system.

    So I bought a prebuilt cause I figured I wasn’t going to be able to buy parts separately anytime soon with everything being out of stock but I want to swap out the PSU cause I heard that’s like the one flaw with the pc but I’m scared of doing it wrong even after watching this video :(

      Same situation here. But I think it is best to just do so honestly, I know that it is a bit scary because of potentially screwing up the motherboard or anything else, but you’ll be fine. Just be sure to ground yourself every few seconds.

      @@RAVisuals it is barely warm, I use the corsair MLs and I have cleaned the bottom tray it is free space for the air from the front to enter through the psu during gaming, for light use it doesn’t really heat up.

      My fans didn’t take any miles connections. They are similar to sata connections in that you just have to plug them in using the correct orientation and you’ll be good!

    Thanks for instructions. Did have some anxiety while connecting cables to PSU (what, where). As well as had additional 4-pin periferal power cable to connect.

      You're buying a new power supply because your cable for your gpu doesnt have enough pins? If thats the case then you can just buy an adapter for 5 dollars. Unless the graphics card requires more power than the psu outputs, then theres no reason to upgrade.

      You need to make sure the old psu is disconnected and powered off first
