      It is ticking over quite well, to be honest. Something like 200 000 views per month. It's only a small niche so I don't expect too much. Thanks for the compliment. Enjoy the vids.

    Great video! Putting the hub assembly in the tire is definitely one of those "why didnt i think of that?" moments!

    I must say, your videos are excellent. They are always detailed and helpful and I really must commend you. Thank you for all the work you put in.

      Thanks. Nice to know it is appreciated. Pity is there is always more stuff to add so it is a compromise to give the details that are important first. You'll find other details get sneaked in in other videos.

    Thanking you sir for your videos, building up an old Discovery series 1 (3 door V8) for some serious offroading and your videos and giving me plenty of confidence with the future restoration. So cheers from down under mate!

    Inspiring videos as always with sharp picture and great commentary. Doing these jobs in your driveway is great, this is what most of us have to do in our driveways between showers so its nice to see a professional work like this too. Would you do a video on replacing brake pipes, what to use, what pipes, sizes, fittings, tools and tricks of the profession? That would help get a lot of us through the dreaded MOT and be safer on the road too?

      flaskandsarnies thanks for the feedback. Yes you are right, dodging raindrops to get the work done is our way. . Okay the brake pipe making is on the cards. I'll see if I can push it up the schedule and get it out quicker for you! Keep an eye out on the channel.

    Always a pleasure to watch... no excuse for budding land rover enthusiasts... get your plastic ratchets out and remember, it's not a hammer... ;o)
    Probably should say, if you've not bashed in a bearing race before then mind your wheel rims, expensive driveway cobbles or wife's polished kitchen table ... If you're in a bind then take an angle grinder to your old race and use these to drift your new one in ...
    Looking forward to the next instalment ... you should probably know ... you've got me working on the old land rover in the freezing bloody cold ... I mostly hate you for this...

    Another top video; thank you. Have you ever thought of approaching one of the satellite channels to do a landy/off road/big boys toys type build programme? You have a good style and pace with your voice and we'd even forgive you looking like Shrek if the camera is on the project 60% of the time!

      I have relatives that work in TV and trust me they can make anyone seem interesting!
      Anyway if you defected it would mean we'd lose all your skills that help us bodge artists so maybe it's for the best :)

    Always love your vids. But would you mind explaining _why_ things you mention is important, like why the end float is so important on the drive shaft, or why not to use lith-moly on wheel bearings?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah yes, good point. Trying not to repeat myself in some cases, sometimes there is not enough time to cover absolutely everything but you are getting very detailed information. If what you are looking for is not in this video then there is a detailed swivel pin housing overhaul video set with hours of info on whys and wherefores on our channel page. Good point about the grease though. I'll have to do something specific about lubrication in the future. Detailed subject indeed. Thank you for commenting.

    I have an older 1995 defender NAS 90 and I want to upgrade to vented discs with the newer wider calipers, is it a direct replacement no mods?

  • @gooddad1975
    @gooddad1975 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    thank you. is there a big difference in brake and performance

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      vented disc are designed to dissipate heat so you don't get brake fade on long braking sessions. They have the same surface are for pad to disc so nothing improved there, Only if you fit callipers with larger pistons you'll notice - BUT too much braking can be worse than poor performance as the could lock up and give you skid.

    Amazing vid, as usual. One question...on my 98 90, if I break strongly, I hear some digital BEEP inside the car. I looked the manual but found nothing. What could it be? Breaking "normally" is ok, and the breaks seem to be fine. Thank you

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never heard of that one. especially of a vehicle of that age. Has someone fitted something in the vehicle that would do that?

    • @razzor72
      @razzor72 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt it, it should be original, as far as I know. It is really curious, people get scared "What is that noise?" all the time :) . Have to admit I was scared the first times I heard it too. Thanks for the reply.

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have friends that like to play practical jokes?

    • @razzor72
      @razzor72 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      :) Wish I could record the sound so you could hear it. The mechanic said the break fluid could be low, but it wasn't. Still a mystery where the sound comes from...no lights on the panel, no nothing...But he said the time to change the break pads is coming soon. Could it be that? Some sort of sensor? I saw some break pads that have sensors, but I don't think my old car would have one. Regards

    • @razzor72
      @razzor72 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mistery solved. I talked to the previous owner, and he had installed some sort of sensor to detect if water is missing on the reservoir. So when I break hard, water is moved out from the sensor and it beeps. Glad is just that.

    hello . my defender 110 font caliper seals are leaking . how can cost an new brake caliper or can i rebuild it . please answer

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a series on overhauling callipers. Here is a playlist for you to browse th-cam.com/play/PLLBZWyYKFvYLcgZbmsPWb59LmMGljp2K8.html
      If you are going to cost out replacing a calliper I'd advise you change or overhaul both front callipers at the same times as to maintain braking balance.

  • @gooddad1975

    on my Discovery 1 1998 the front desk is not vented if I use vented disc do I have to upgrade the caliper in the world a caliper go on the same bracket

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The solid disc type calliper will not take a vented disc. The vented disc is much wider. You'll need to upgrade the callipers too if you want to go down that road.
