7:32 "We have become an apathetic society, we don't bother to vote in local government we don't bother to vote in trade union elections and then we complain like buggery about the people who get in when they don't do what we want them to do." - So relevant to the situation today.
It’s staggering how engaging, open and in depth conversations were on those days. No interruptions, pointed questions, and from what I can tell, honest answers. Wonder if he would have been a great PM.
Much talk about job losses from improved productivity. This talk was long before off-shoring to cheap labor cost countries arrived. Imagine someone from the future was there to tell them ALL your manufacturing jobs are going away to China, Pakistan and Vietnam. They'd say you were talking tommy rot.
Imagine Diane Abbott speaking like this!! Growing up in the 1980s and 90s I was stupid Democratic socialist but now have been Conservative since my early 30s now aged 45.
Tories say socialism is bad, yet has 0 ecomomic policy outside of selling the country to the Chinese Communist Party. If Hitler were in power today all hed have to do is by up all our industry from Johnson et al then switch off our electricity before bombing the crap out of us. If we went to wat with China they would shut us down without firing a single bullet.
disagree with Heseltine on many things. giving more power and leeway to owners just tips the already existing power imbalance towards them. thinking about where the profits are going to be made is nice, but without also thinking about its distribution makes little sense for most of us. still, a fairly well delivered and coherent conservative performance. a lot less unpleasant than a good deal of today's absolutely fantastic nonsense coming from Boris, the Mogg, Trump, and the the rest

Whats he on about ?
This man failed at everything he ever did. Never failed to be a snobby toff though.
Did well for Liverpool
He failed to become PM, but he had a pretty successful career otherwise.
Became a millionaire at a young age too.
