From what it says, the translation of the title means "It's time to Counterattack" and has some mentions of some Vietnamese cities like Dong Ha, so it's kinda obvious that this song is about counter-attacking some cities controlled by the commies

This is why it makes me frustrated when people compare Afghanistan to South Viet Nam, the south resisted and even advanced against the communists and fell thanks to broken american promises and overwhelming NVA force, the afghanis just gave up
I beg to differ with that one, it's not just the broken promise of America, since it's the Democrats who pulled out the funds, but the corruption within Thieu's government which cause losing the trust from the US. The US did fund for South Vietnam militarily and economically, but some of the money were ended up in the hands of Thieu's inner circle and other government officials who supported him. The NVA concluded that the corruption of the Thieu government is a sign of weakness and the signal time to invade South Vietnam.

@@MM-qo9fq Not exactly. And It's the reason. The only way to prevent the South from falling, is the 1973 Peace Accord shouldn't be happend with the blockade continues. And the South could have bide time to fortify their borders while 73 accord is still in effect. That way the South couldn't have fall. Another fact that some or most of ARVN generals were also corrupt at the time as well. If I were you, if I'm a commie, I shouldn't have listen any South Vietnamese songs over to communist ones. But I like the ARVN songs at the same time.
That's the only reason why the Taliban took control so quickly
They resisted 'til the very last days. The difference is clear! The communists with Soviet support took years to take over the South vs the Taliban took some days to take over the whole Afghanistan.
The song is about the ARVN counterattack to retake the territory in the red summer of 1972, the image in the video is the image of the victory flag being raised in the battle to retake Quang Tri citadel.
P/S: The battle to recapture Quang Tri citadel was the fiercest battle of the Vietnam War.

Sorry if it sounds cringy, but I find it very sweet that you take such an interest in our people and history. Especially when most of 'history' has written them off as a bunch of useless American puppets, it always warms my heart that a non-Vietnamese has so much sympathy for us and is interested in hearing our side of things. We'll really never know, since most of the recordings were destroyed, hence the re-recordings in the US.

@@JHHoang1958 so sad. This songs are legend. There are always many differences between those re-recordings. I'm now collecting these vnch songs and trying to translate as many songs as I could into Chinese.

Is the"Phan Cong"means anti communism?
Phan Cong means recapture. This song is about to recapture Quang Tri after it was lost to the Communist by the end of April, 1972. Anti Communism means Chong Cong.
