Astronauts are basically like if the guys from Jackass all had master's degrees in various scientific fields and 1000+ hours of jet aircraft flight time.
A quick explanation for why they fall over so easily. Part of the reason for the clumsiness is that, while you might weigh less on the Moon, your mass stays the same - and therefore inertia, which is a body's resistance to changes in motion and is related to mass, not weight, also stays the same. This results in a lot of accidents, as the astronauts are moving in very different conditions.
FlyntofRWBY as well as the suits are pressurized and thus resembles walking in a ballon shaped like a body. It’s much harder to keep your balance when considering what you said, as well as not being able to bend and twist freely like you can outside of the suit.
@@armorpro573 believing that you're the only living creature amongst the trillion of planets out there that we have yet to see, is honestly the most stupid thing.
LMAO "WE", you are acting like a football fan 😂 Sitting on the couch with all that extra weight, unable to run, but you are identifying with your favorite team as "WE WON!" 🤣
One aspect people do not intuitively realize (including the astronauts) is the difference between mass and weight when walking. Weight depends on the strength of gravity, and is 1/6 earth on the moon. Mass is independent of gravity. So an astronaut can jump higher on the moon because he has 1/6 the weight. But, because his mass is unchanged, some parts of the aspects of walking are the same as on earth. The inertia (tendency to stay in motion) is the same because it depends on mass. So stopping on the moon requires the same traction force as on earth. But, with 1/6 the weight, you only get 1/6 the expected friction in your boots (since boot friction does depend on weight). Hence the possibility of faceplanting. After spending all your life on earth, during a moonwalk, you discover that stopping a walk is a very different feeling. You suddenly have 1/6 the friction to stop the exact same inertia. It must have been a very odd feeling!
They also trained underwater in the suits weighted to simulate that but until they were actually doing it they found there was a learning curve just to hop around without the friction from the water. I think the pressurized suit gives them more trouble itself than anything else as they must somehow equalize it to an Earth atmosphere inside without having it turn into a balloon they can't move in.
@@charliewernette Actually the underwater training was for a zero gravity environment, not the moon, which is 1/6g. Suit stiffness is an issue, especially with the hand joints. The J Mission astronauts (who spent up to three days on the moon) had their hands beaten up trying to work. The ballooning problem was a potentially lethal issue (because they had trouble entering their spacecraft) for both the US and Soviets during the Gemini and Vostok missions. But they went a long way to solving it by Apollo. One thing they do is pressure the suits to about 5psi of pure oxygen instead of using 14.7psi air. This cuts the pressure differential to 1/3 atmosphere. With the current Artemis mission, suit design is still a major engineering challenge.
Fittingly enough, there’s a games called _Kerbal Space Program_ made by an indie studio with Unity where you can send people to other planets using realistic rockets!
Fun fact: Them falling on the ground is actually beneficial because the scientists figured out that the fine dust of the moon was so razor sharp it cut through through the fibers of their suit. They then realized that it makes sense that it's sharp because there is no wind or water to make the particles crash into each other and soften their surface.
@@daviemac1000you know that brings up an interesting question, is the moon technically a desert or is it it’s own biome? Just looked it up. In order for a land to be a biome it needs life. Officially the moon is nothing.

To the people who think we faked the landing I feel bad for you
LOL I find it ironic that people believe this was staged, and yet still believe in UFOs
@@armorpro573 believing that you're the only living creature amongst the trillion of planets out there that we have yet to see, is honestly the most stupid thing.

Top trained american heroes that are looked up to, cackling as they bunny hop across the moons surface.
Wholesome
honestly, if i was able to go up there as a first human in history to step on the moon,
i too would jump like Bug Bunny, enjoy our time up there s
This looks like an Indie-game made with Unity wtf
Fittingly enough, there’s a games called _Kerbal Space Program_ made by an indie studio with Unity where you can send people to other planets using realistic rockets!
have you seen moonbase alpha
@@alexsiemers7898 not people, it's kerbals
nobeltnium I know, but I say that since a person who doesn’t already know what a Kerbal is will probably be confused by it at first
Because of the colour xD
Fun fact: Them falling on the ground is actually beneficial because the scientists figured out that the fine dust of the moon was so razor sharp it cut through through the fibers of their suit. They then realized that it makes sense that it's sharp because there is no wind or water to make the particles crash into each other and soften their surface.
That’s interesting.
How is that beneficial though?
@@1sonictheThe information
Interesting !
Surely they realised it was sharp when they brought samples home. I doubt they needed to fall over to establish that.
Watching astronauts fall on the moon is literally the funniest thing I’ve ever seen
Lol desert and elastic
@@daviemac1000you know that brings up an interesting question, is the moon technically a desert or is it it’s own biome?
Just looked it up. In order for a land to be a biome it needs life. Officially the moon is nothing.
