    That was interesting for me as The walk started and ended where I went to junior school in the 1940's Where the demolition site and the to Brudenell School in the 1950's. Both Schools have been demolished. You travelled on the roads and streets I would take to both schools. You also passed where some important people lived. Arther Ransome's house of Swalows and A,mazon fame. Herbert Sutcliffes house in Cardigan Road, John Cravens Street dont know the House could be nearer Burley Park and lastly Sir Stansfield Robinson Conductor of the London Symphony and his brother Eric Robison director of BBC light entertainment. My family lived in Thornville Road lower down from the Mosque

      Hi there! Hyde Park is very much one of the most popular student areas in Leeds, along with Headingley a little further out of town. Of the two, Hyde Park does have a little more crime around and about, but it is overwhelmingly a safe place to live, like much of Leeds :) If you're looking for somewhere a little quieter, then Woodhouse just nearby is a lovely spot for students of all nationalities too!
      I hope that helps - and thank you very much for watching :)

      It's not too bad, as someone who lived there herself :) It can take a little adjusting to, and a lot of unknown places can look more sinister than they actual are, but the people of Hyde Park are pretty cool!

      I live near there in brundel road its only late at night where crime happens

    • @someblokecalledtom
      @someblokecalledtom 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Silver Bulletz Laughably untrue. If you believe that it's university educated students doing grafiti and burglaries and not local layabouts who failed even the most basic education a long time ago then you're very much mistaken. If it's noise disturbance etc. that you are complaining about though then you may have a point.

    • @someblokecalledtom
      @someblokecalledtom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Silver Bulletz Ah, getting to the crux of it now. 'University is bad because I didn't go' and of course you're smarter through hard knocks. Got it. Broadly I agree though, they do create noise and nuance and it ends up pushing people out. Crime however is inversely correlated with educational levels it's an established economic/sociological fact. Uni students are really not on average going around robbing phones and joyriding. The blame for that falls squarely at the feet of poorly educated and poverty stricken locals, which I think is a tragedy. I'm not going to go around blaming foreigners and students from different parts of the UK all because I don't want to take responsibility for my local community. The worst parts of Leeds are the poorest and usually student free. Look at Holbeck, Cross Green and Harehills for example. Poor, poorly educated and very few students to be seen.

    I have watched so many of your video walks and have enjoyed them all. However, I have got to say, that while this truly looks like it could be a stunning area to live, the fact that there clearly are a lot of youth's who have absolutely no respect for their own nor other's properties, that tagging every available home wall, fence, even trash bins, has done nothing but make this whole area appear derelict, shady as heck and downright trashy. Such a shame that the Council and Police allow this vagrancy to go on without any recourse as shown by the fact that there is hardly one unmarked place in the entire walk. It's a crying shame!!!

    The graffiti is utterly disgraceful. Should make whoever does it clean it off.

    It looks like much of Leeds is a run-down dive, a sad place to live, it doesn't look like there is much pride in the place, or is this simply a ghetto?

      It’s the area where most of students live, this is why it’s not really well looked after. Greedy landlords don’t live there so they don’t care about it. It’s great for nightlife though.

    great victorian suburb, although these souls have to bear some of the most awful senseless graffiti
