  • Welcome back to VoroMotors, as always. For this week's video AJ is looking at electric scooter throttles and analyzing what makes each one of them different from the others. Here at Voro Motors, we have finger throttles, thumb throttles, and twist throttles that can all be swapped onto your EMOVE Cruiser or EMOVE Touring. Which is made possible thanks to our plug and play throttle system. So we've got plenty of styles of throttles to talk about and plenty of experience to consider. This video will help you find out what throttle is best for you.

    Hi AJ,
Being a lifelong motorcyclist (and 'older' rider), I've switched to the twist throttle.
The only issue I have with the twist throttle is that for some reason it comes designed without the flange that exists on the OEM (standard) grip. I do like/prefer the look and comfort of the original grip... so much so that I've decided to keep the original grip on the left handlebar even though I have the twist throttle on the right.
Also, the original grip style with the flange is much more comfortable as you can rest the heel of the hand on the flange and - especially - if the cruise control is switched off it's easy and comfortable to maintain revs resting on the flange in this way... just like we do on motorbikes.
It would be great if the twist throttle could be redesigned to - basically - be the look and comfort of the original grips but with the function of a twist-throttle.

Hi.. I also got the twist throttle. but while
Practicing i noticed sometimes the scooter accelerates suddenly while walking the scooter if your hand on the throttle
Moves.. same while getting down the scooter even after slowing it down a lot, if the hand moves on the throttle it suddenly accelerates while you are getting down the deck.. Did you see the same issue?

Personally, I keep cruse control off, because I like to gauge distance from cars in front of my ride.
I do have the trigger throttle almost in the same place that the break levers were in. And it works very well 😊.
    Great video AJ

I'm glad you made a whole video on this. The finger throttle is the worst throttle I've ever had to use. It's so sensitive to speed changes and so awkward to use. It's pretty much a safety hazard. I have no idea how it became the standard.

As an avid motorcyclist I MUCH prefer the twist throttle. The trigger throttle is down right dangerous as it can be confused with the brake in a panic situation which happened to me a couple of times until I forced myself to ride with my middle finger on the brake lever all the time which wasn’t very comfortable. Pansies may be fine with the trigger throttle but for aggressive riders I definitely recommend the twist.

Sweet video you guys! I am loving the twist throttle on my emove cruiser, can't wait to show it off in some videos.
Question: does the twist throttle work on all the scooters?
EDIT: nvm I read the description in the video, and it does work! Noice!

I've asked my dealer of the Cruiser to bring out the twist throttle so I can try it and he said yes. So when my scooter is delivered next week, he'll bring a second with a twist throttle fitted so I can try it out. I have small hands and have ridden farm bikes before so a twist throttle feels more natural than the stock finger throttle.

One "minus" of twist throttles that you didn't mention occurs if you forget to turn the motor off before walking or moving your scooter. It's easy to activate the throttle by accident and then the scooter shoots out of your hands or drags you. I was nearly dragged into traffic when I forgot to turn the power off before trying to walk a moped e-bike. Overall I still like the twist throttle, it's comfortable to use on long rides and easy to make fine adjustments to your speed.

Going to your p settings and P7 is takeoff speed set it change it from 0 to 1 cuts the acceleration in half on bad roads like I have often times I hit potholes that make my thumb's slip off of the throttle and it clicks back pretty hard can't be good for it

    • @barryszymanski8022
      @barryszymanski8022 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ldxyz-s1e it does have that just have to do research is all P4 is the kick start setting it won't go unless your pushing it at 5mph which is a perfect for kick off speed shouldn't engage not to mention the P7 setting is take off acceleration set it to 1 and you halve the speed it accelerates people are way too quick to just put something down instead of doing research

Thumb throttle, but it needs to be adjusted to be stiffer, making it resistant to bumps, while also not too stiff that it gets tiring on long trips.
I've ridden a different scooter with a thumb throttle that was executed a bit differently, it was a tab on a ring that wrapped around the handlebar, instead of a lever. So it was like a hybrid of a twist & thumb throttle, which I really liked.

    • @ldxyz-s1e

I own all three, For me the thumb throttle is best, I have small hands and when needing to brake in an emergency the trigger throttle takes the longest to release the throttle and hit the brake, The twist throttle you can sometime accidentally twist the throttle when reaching for the brake, not good when you're trying to brake, I've also noticed when turning i can accidently twist the throttle as i lean, again not great to be accelerating when trying to turn, With the thumb throttle once you release it your hand is clear of all parts of the throttle.
With the thumb throttle i would suggest putting the throttle on the other side of the display, (i have grips, brake lever, display, thumb throttle) if you have it next to the brake lever it feels to close and your thumb goes into an un-natural position, Also it can hit the brake lever and not alllow full acceleration if it's to close to the grips, I have a handlebar extension and have moved the ignition switch on to the extension creating more room for thumb throttle, The handlebar is too cramped for the thumb throttle if you still want to be able to fold the handlebars. On the extension i have the ignition switch, extra lighting and a mirror.

I’d like to try a twist throttle sooner than later. I started out not caring for the trigger throttle. If you have decent size hands, it’s not hard to use index finger on throttle with middle finger (ring and/or both works too) close to brake lever. It took a little trial and error to position my 1 finger brake lever and throttle just right, but eventually it was easy to instantly accel or brake, with the added benefit of using my brake finger to control speed of trigger pull or block unintentional throttle movement while getting a little aggressive (it’s a modified Vsett 10+)

Thank you for explaining the difference between the throttles. I just got my new electric scooter last week. I did order the twist throttle as an accessory. I have not installed it. I wanted to get a feel for the scooter before I made changes. I am going to like the twist throttle for the reason you stated. I will be turning off the cruise control. It will be easy to release the twist throttle and squeeze the brakes. With finger throttle, you have to remember to release the finger throttle before applying the brakes. You got to turn off the gas before you apply the brakes! I was lucky I was not going fast when I learned that lesson. I am not going to be going fast. There are too many homes and businesses driveways along my desired paths. I want to go a little bit faster than walking. My favorite coffee place is within two blocks with limited car parking. There is a lot within 2 miles. I often joke my life revolves around 5 miles. I am going to be ahead of the game with all the new apartments car traffic is going to be a nightmare. In my neighborhood, we are into supporting the local community (there are no local e-bike shops) and all that good stuff. I am going to be on the cutting edge of local transportation!

Please refer me to one either through amazon link or a model and model number, I will subscribe to your channel upon you response. thanks

I submitted a negative review of the finger throttle, it never made it to the VM website, they only publish good reviews. The finger throttle is dangerous, when I went to squeeze my right brake lever, I hit the finger throttle by mistake and accelerated rather than slowed down. Could be a bad situation in an emergency stop. So I order the thumb throttle, easy install via their video. I have an average size hand, although I like the thumb throttle better, my thumb hits the thumb part of the throttle in the wrong place, so I have to move my hand partly off the handle bar to situate the thumb. It was clearly an afterthought by VM. Also the “P” menu is different. In order to elect an option after scrolling it works differently than the basic “P” menu with the finger throttle. I chatted with CS on the matter and they sent me the instructions for the basic menu, I had to figure it out by trial and error. I don’t have the basic display anymore, but I found out again, thru trial and error when the scooter goes on cruise control, there is some item that comes on the display at the 9 o’clock position that tells you are in cruise control, no where did I see that in the directions. I like the scooter very much and a big upgrade from my former Segway ninebot.

I had built a 2000W ebike and it had cruise control. I loved the idea... Mostly because I wanted to drive it "no hands" on wide roads xD Unfortunately, the frame/front forks weren't very solid (i think that that was the issue...) and if I left the handlebars, the thing wabbled like crazy before totally losing control... So... Cruise control didn't fullfil my wishes xD
Right now I own a Laotie Ti30. Nice 'little" scooter... 40KG they say... It also has cruise control and I'm really tempted to use it... But can i drive it no hands is my main question 😂
