      My one concern with Imagen is how compressed the images are touted as being. At 75%(?) as they claim, I’d be concerned of handing off noticeably less quality pics than if I was controlling compression within Lightroom export settings. What’s been your experience?

    I just switched and bought the Nikon Z8 two weeks ago. Decided against the Kit Nikkor lens 24-120 f4 S and bought the Tamaron 35-150 instead. The F4 is just to slow. I've only used the Tamaron once so far and I'm impressed! Got some great shots and AF never missed a shot! One thing I didn't know until I got home and looked at the box. Tamaron has a Six Year Warranty on this lens!!! 😱 That's impressive indeed!

    Mine just arrived this past Friday, and it is spectacular. On the Z8, I see no difference in AF performance when compared to the Nikon OEM Z 70-200 & 24-70 2.8's. Also, incredibly sharp across the focal range...and supremely versatile. Combined with the Z 17-28 and the Z 50 1.8s prime...a killer kit for just about any scenario. I've come a long way in my photography business, realizing that minimalism (or, close to it) is key to avoiding having too much equipment get in the way. I used to take a roller-bag full of lenses to weddings/events, thinking about every conceivable circumstance and 'what-if'...but, with experience, you realize what's important and understand what is REALLY needed to stay 'in the moment,' focusing more on composition, rather than getting distracted by thinking about whether you are using the right gear. Tools like this help so much in just thinking about TAKING PICTURES...and I look forward to using it substantially. (note: not paid by Tamron :)...however, I just did purchase your yearly membership; looking forward to learning more about expanding my biz!). Cheers!

      The perfect set up for me when I go mirrorles, I have the Nikon D850 with all the lens about 6 to 8k in lens. I want ONE lens that can do it all for my Nikon Z9 purchase soon!
      I take the greatest pictures and my clients don't know the difference between prime and zooms...

      I am consider to change my 24-70mm 2.8 to this one. I do studio photography (have 50mm 1.2 and 85mm 1.2 as well, but I hate to change lenses and im feeling bored to use all the time same focal length.) What do you think about sharpness and colours? It would be a step down from the primes?

      Do you really need 50mm 1.8 when you have tamron? You have 50mm 2.2 on tamron, I can't say that's much difference...I know that 50mm 1.8 ic clinicly sharp, but if I had Tamron, I won't need 50mm 1.8.

    When I saw this come out for Sony, I told myself I was going to get one if it ever became available for Nikon.
    Now that the 70-180 is available for ~$1k, I'm second guessing that decision and saving a grand to pair the 70-180 with my 35 on a wedding day. Choices... choices...

    I really like the Vivitar 24-200mm f22 for wedding photography. I find it out performers the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 because always being at f22 you don't have to use autofocus because you are stopped down so much. Only downside you need to use a Canon R3 and you have to shoot around ISO 12,800 to 204,800 and then use DXO Deep PRIME noise reduction. And since its a manual lens Canon can't stop it.

    I bought one used for $1500 and I just shot 2 weddings last weekend. This lens is sharp and produces beautiful images. I own the Sony 50mm 1.2 , 35mm 1.4 and this tamron it is GMaster quality. It’s slightly heavier than the 50mm 1.2 not a lot though.

      @reynaldohernandez1425 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sramabadran No I don’t miss the VR. You should be ok if you use a mirrorless Nikon body because their Ibis is pretty good. The 35-150mm doesn’t give you the compression/ subject separation like the 70-200 does. That’s the only thing I miss.

    First off I dig your channel. I recently bought this lens and now pretty much everything else stays in the bag. As a hybrid shooter it has really helped me narrow down my digital "quiver" which helps a lot with fatigue over the course of the day. I really don't find it to be all that heavy and as you said it balances nicely on the Z8. I thought that I'd largely use it for quick coverage and still let film do the heavy lifting for the pretty stuff but I actually really love the "look" this lens gives you. I even like the fact that it flares quite easily. Used intentionally the flare is really pretty which was very hard to achieve with my other go to "coverage lens" the 24-120 f4 . To make it perfect for me I would want it to be more like 28-150 and have a closer minimum focusing distance but those are pipe dreams. My wife shoots Canon and uses the RF 28-70 F2 which I was always a bit jealous of. Not any more :)

  • @johnforbes4795
    @johnforbes4795 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I must admit that the two of you have got me thinking about purchasing this lens. I shoot a lot (thousands) of dog show movement photos. My go-to setup has been my Nikon Z 70-200mm f2.8 S on the Z9 and the Nikon Z8 fitted with either the Nikon Z 24-120mm f4 S (wonderful lens, especially outdoors both wide shots and movement) or the Nikon Z 105mm f2.8 S Macro (indoors - beautiful portraits, but not terribly flexible focal-length-wise). I've been thinking about picking up the Nikon Z 24-70mm f2.8 S for the indoor wide shots and occasional movement shots, but this Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 might be a better choice for the 2nd camera. It's nice to have good choices.

    It's a lens focal length that has undoubtedly stirred up the Nikon fotographic market. Personally, I'm a fan of the N 24-70 2.8 S and the N 105 1.4. I also need a 70-200 zoom, but if the Nikon/Tamron 35-150 is really as sharp and fast as you say, could I avoid carrying two cameras? :) :) Have a great day everyone. • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it’s a bit less about weight and more about balance. I used this lens on the ZF and it felt incredibly heavy because the body is very light. Then on the z8 and z9 the lens felt lighter because it was more properly in line with the body. That’s just my experience though

    Has Nikon/Tamron/any reviewer confirmed that this lens will work with the Nikon Z 1.4TC??
    I'm already sold on the lens, but if I'm able to utilize the Z TCs, it will be that much more versatile of a lens!
    It would only make it a 49-210mm 2.8-4, which is still plenty fast + the additional 1.5x crop: 74-315mm 2.8-4.
    Side note: I really wish Nikon would give us back the in-body 1.2x crop mode -- it now only gives us the 1.5x -- bc again, more versatility.

    Great primes are hard to beat. that being said the Nikon 70-200 is in another league quality wise to that Tamaron. you didn't mention the heavy vignietting and no image stabilization. furthermore you have to be mindful as you're zooming from 35 to 150 your exposure is changing then you have to either take a chance on setting it to aperture priority or auto iso . if I need a zoom I prefer to pay the extra price to have the same aperture across the zoom range IMHO.
