Considering we are getting NES Tetris on Switch Online soon, I wouldn't doubt that we will see other Nintendo published Tetris games on NSO, like Tetrisphere or Tetris 2.
@briandadude 7/10 is a good game. It means that your average gamer who liked similar games will almost certainly enjoy it. Contrary to popular belief encouraged by big game journalists, 7/10 is not mediocre gaming experience.
I've seen on screenshots that it's 2 player. I think Tetris X is better. 1 have lots of fun with it with my cousins playing 4 player Tetris on PS1. You have each of your characters on the bottom of the screen. you move them to the player that you want to dump your garbage on.
@KWPZ21 it is competitive. You share the same well and when you clear the orbs you get different levels of spells. Level 1 usually helps clean up your board, level 2 &3 are annoyances for your opponent, and level 4 are typically brutal game changers. It is my favorite multiplayer teris, it gets intense
@@kennystamper7873 Tetris X and Guidan have similar assets and graphics. Tetris X is more of a casual free for all game between the 4 players to gets the most points in a number of rounds. After every round there is a visual of all your characters on who is leading it's like a race to the finish line. Being 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place gives you a number of steps your character makes to reach the finish line. All 3 players can actually gang up on a single player to dump their trash pieces. You can clearly see it at the bottom of the screen when all your friends characters go to your spot and gang up on you. Haha. We just have an agreement to just switch positions every round. Only one opponent can dump their trash each round if we just want a relaxing game.
I’ve had a number of versions of *Tetris* over the years. I know this is one I want, but I’m waiting I hopes of a physical release. I remember having *Tetris* GameBoy Advance and on PSP. Both are largely forgotten, as they are lost in a sea of *Tetris* versions over the last 40+ years. My first experience with the game was in 1989 on the original GameBoy. I still love that one! I hope it come physically. If not, I’ll just download it. Either way, I’ll end up with it on my Switch. Thanks for another great video review. Nintendo Life is my “GO-TO” place for Switch reviews. You guys are spot-on, and I LOVE Alex’s delivery.
The first time I played Tetris was Mirrorsoft's version in 1988 on the Amiga 1000. At first I had no idea what I was supposed to do and the whole bit with using tetrominoes to fill the gaps to clear lines was very abstract. Eventually it clicked and I'm still to this day pretty much addicted to Tetris!
"tetromino" has the same structure as "domino", it just means four squares instead of two, so I don't know why so many people pronounce them as if they're entirely unrelated. Unless... wait, do you pronounce "domino" as "do-MEAN-oh"?
It’s because they may have the $$ for that yet. My problem is people refusing to buy the game unless there’s a physical. They’re not seeing the big picture - if you don’t buy the digital version, then there’s a slimmer chance of a physical version. Id gladly support Atari/Digital Eclipse and buy the game digitally and then buy it again if there’s a physical.
I definitely will get this Tetris forever, and if there’s one version of Tetris that I wish made it into this compilation is the Sega version which is so rare and that’s a whole piece of history in itself. But other than that, I’m very happy with what’s an offer.
No, there’s a timeline mode which is the visual documentary/ archival digital museum stuff. On the main main menu you can just click a button to choose game library and exclusively play the games without the timeline bit.
Im just in love whit this whole series, the Atari one, the Jeff Minter story and now this , this how videogame preservation should look and sell....but Nintendo refueses to liste.
Imagine if just like Atari 50 we got DLC for this game That included other companies games like Tetris Plus or the grandmaster series that would be so cool.
I notice that the Tengen version appears to be absent from the list. Could this be something we see added to SEGA Genesis Online? or would this be more likely part of the Arcade Archives line? Regardless, the only other version of note absent is Tetris The Grand Master, of which is readily available as part of the Arcade Archives line. Also: expect a base tier update to Nintendo Switch Online within the next two weeks.
I'm glad that this is here. It's another that pin points achievements in history that any gamer should own as well as any Nintendo owner, just like Nintendo tournament edition.
They have a pretty good track record of adding games over time, either for free or as paid DLC. So I wouldn't be too disheartened by the selection of games here.
This Tetris game has gotten very addictive I was just at home playing it I still like the previous Tetris games like PUYO PUYOTetris 1 and 2 and Tetris Effect Connected
The Super Famicom (SNES) versions of Tetris are terribly emulated with slow down and frame skipping, this is unacceptable, hopefully will be fixed in an update.
This is a lot less about playing Tetris (though it certainly still is) and a lot more about historical views on the series’ history. If you haven’t played Atari 50 I’d really recommend trying it out
I wish they put one of the most unique Tetris games ever released: Tetris DS
I think they'd have a bit of trouble with that one, since this is a multi-platform game and Tetris DS contains Nintendo characters.
DX you mean 😏
@blessedpigeon6304 No, DS
@@joshpetzoldt6344 Yeah unfortunately. But that would have been a great Switch Exclusive. 😆
@@EpicSmasher2 yeah, i know, I'm playin'
DX is my favourite version tho
Will definitely get it. I hope Nintendo will release Tetrisphere on the Switch online.
Considering we are getting NES Tetris on Switch Online soon, I wouldn't doubt that we will see other Nintendo published Tetris games on NSO, like Tetrisphere or Tetris 2.
I just know Jon really enjoying this right now.
Didn’t he give it a 7 out of 10?

@@TheDetectiveEngineer You are assuming I thought 7/10 isn't a good game just to go on a little soapbox. Pretty funny.
@briandadude Oh, forgive me for interpreting your comment the way it comes across.
Tetris Battle Guidan is one of the best tetris games. It's worth a try for everyone

The omission of the Game Boy and NES versions of the game is a shame….but they’re (or going to be) on NSO 😇 there’s your reason.
I’m pretty sure Gameboy will be there, but without calling it “Nintendo” or “Gameboy”. I think it will be referred to as 1989.
The problem is that if you don't own a switch you don't get to play those games which is BS.
@@bland9876The game will be out on Steam. But are the NES and Gameboy version not in the Steam game?
NES version of Tetris is my absolute favorite.
No Tetrisphere which had an absolute banger soundtrack:/

It’s a crime that this doesn’t have physical release, out of all the goal master series games so far, this definitely deserves to have one.
I was born in 1985 and had a GameBoy as a kid. I was addicted to Tetris!! I still play it on NSO a lot now!
I have been looking forward to this game since it was announced

This is really the BPS Collection as if it would be an anthology, it would have other oddities like the Tetris game on PS1 or Tetris Worlds.
I really wish that they got Tetris CD-I in their collection.
i assume they'd have to get Philips and Sony's permission for that one

No Tetris Attack it’s disappointing
@@switchcollectbecause that ain’t Tetris
Why should it? It’s a small release and may be more expensive as a physical title
The main audience for Tetris Forever
is older gamers like me who would
rather have the physical

I’m good for Tetris games on my switch but I’ll pick this up for the Steam Deck.
I think I will too. But the switch version is on sale rn, idk about the steam version
Tetris Effect is the best Tetris game
We need all the 100+ versions of tetris ever made on one collection
Imagine if just like Atari 50 we got DLC for this game That included other companies games like Tetris Plus or the grandmaster series that would be so cool.
I felt bad for it!, That Tetris was making the Lego bricks to connect with the pieces.
the way the writer name and video peresenter names appeared, it looked like it was the names of the old guys in the intro LMAO
Is this gonna get a physical version?
Any news on a physical release? I know Atari 50 has one
i hope they add the n64 ones as dlc or something....
I love The New Tetris. I wish the gold and silver blocks would come back with things to build with your lifetime line total
Never knew about this! Probably won't pick it up but the concept is really interesting and seems to be executed in a really cool way!
Does Tetris Forever have online play or does the online play for it not exist yet?
Loved the tetris plus by jaleco.. wished they included it
This looks so incredible. So much extras and awesome versions. Yes not every version, but a heck of a lot of great ones.

Holy s**t!! There’s footage of Hiroshi Yamauchi in the game! Must have for every gamer.
Is there Handling settings for any of this games?
Can PBs be saved and chased on a leaderboard for each/most games on here? Can music be turned off?
I'm glad that this is here. It's another that pin points achievements in history that any gamer should own as well as any Nintendo owner, just like Nintendo tournament edition.
TETRIS COLLECTION IS EPIC!
After going through the whole thing. It was worth it. A lot of questions I had was answered! I wish Tetris time warp had more warps though.
I'm disappointed that GBC Tetris DX isn't included.

Well, I love my copy of Puyo Puyo Tetris for Switch.
Does this have the option to turn the display sideways in handheld?
I'm interested to see what the documentary in the game adds that wasn't in the gaming historian documentary which was awesome.
This Tetris game has gotten very addictive I was just at home playing it I still like the previous Tetris games like PUYO PUYOTetris 1 and 2 and Tetris Effect Connected
One of the few games I preordered ever
Tetris nes is the only Tetris that matters
Yeah, that's brilliant, came out before the GB version, which then lead to everyone forgetting the NES version ever existed.
More excited for the Tetris 99 NES theme. Might get this when the inevitable physical release comes out.
I wanna see Tetris & Dr. Mario come to the Nintendo Switch Online
I saw this and I for a second I was like “that’s a Jon video” before. I remembered he’s not there anymore
It’s Tetris absolutely it’s worth it!!
I have an exam coming up on Thursday. Unfortunately this game comes out just before so I’ll be failing the exam
You could wait until after your exam to play the game.
@ you seem to miss what a joke it but that’s ok friend
Tetris!
Where Digital Eclipse is owned by Atari, it would have been amazing if they could’ve put Tengen Tetris in here. Too bad
"This game blows!!!!!!"
I like the game but I really wish they would have had some more interesting games in the collection like tetrisphere
The Super Famicom (SNES) versions of Tetris are terribly emulated with slow down and frame skipping, this is unacceptable, hopefully will be fixed in an update.
there is only local MP or real MP?
If it had a version of Tetris:The Grand Master I'd be sold 😒
They better add Tetris worlds in dlc
Tetris 99 is all we need to play on Nintendo switch
Are the videos dubbed? Annoyingly I can no longer read subtitles (unless they are white text on black and huge) easily due to vision impairments.
Tetris DS was epic
I wish tetris cdi was on there
No GB Tetris.
No Tetris DS.
RIP.
Too expensive at $34.99 on PSN for just the digital copy. How about physical copies that will be fair
you tell me it's a mod of Atari 50 and i'd believe you
I already have 3 Tetris games on my Switch so I have to pass
I already have four Tetris games on switch so I need 18 more tbhh. Day one buy.
This is a lot less about playing Tetris (though it certainly still is) and a lot more about historical views on the series’ history. If you haven’t played Atari 50 I’d really recommend trying it out
Why would you ever buy more than 1? LOL…
I’m super silly. I’m a Tetris total addict and I somehow just can’t stop getting more Tetris.
I only have three Tetris games on my switch so I have to get this. 😂😂
Not enough love for The New Tetris on N64....
hold on... if this is a Digital Eclipse game, then technically this is an Atari game right? Is this Atari's first Tetris title?
atari made an arcade version of tetris in 1988, and an nes version in 1989
8/10 score is always expected 😅
30 times... and a further 2 in the afterthought XD
I have a sudden urge to play some domeeeeenos now...................................
rip Tetris CDi
All those tspins missed in the demo left my heart empty. Lol
No tetrisphere, no deal.
Where is Tetris: The Grand Master?
Those got released as arcade archive games and a new one is currently in development
the plural of Tetris is Tetri
No Tetris Grandmaster no buy
Why no Mickey Mouse tetris & tetris world
Looks a bit naff after the last one which played loads of
Tetrisphere…where is it…
Too expensive
Thanks to capitalism Tetris conquered the world and the creators are finally getting paid!
As much as I don't care nothing much about Tetris games on the Switch, either way, I'm skipping them too
Unsubscribing because of the way this person reads his lines.
I tried for a couple of years to get used to it but couldn't.
It's the most boring game ever made!
This game has always been for grandmas. Gets boring after 5 mins or less. Columns was way better.
They couldn’t even be bothered to put Tetris 64 on here. What a joke. The creator doesn’t deserve a dime.
They said they're considering more games via dlc dude
Tetris forever? Nah. Tetris died in the 80’s
Ok boomer
this is bait
If you haven’t seen the Tetris movie, I highly recommend it
