Electronics go a long way to taming modern higher powered bikes. I rode a 998 around the IoM in the Centinery TT and loved the way it handled but it was cripplingly uncomfortable and hard on the suspension. Managed a quicker time on (the then) new to me Aprilia RSVR which surprisingly I much prefered despite it's lesser 128bhp at the crank. It seemed to have more mid range stomp, (gruntier than a warthog eating truffles) sounded amazing and was way more comfy and turned in more like a race bike. It was that experience which switched me onto Aprilias from Ducatis for the road and despite riding much faster machinery since then, those last non electronically neutered visceral vee twins remain etched in my memory as the most rewarding bikes I ever road as you had to work harder and they didn't flatter poor riding as much as modern stuff does. In fact I still have a 2001 rsvr and will never sell that bike as it's part of me now. I could be very temoted to a pinagali vee 2 which I consider as Ducati's all time best road bike and possibly the most reliable engine they've ever made too.
@@ReferenceFidelityComponents Yes of course electronics play a long part to taming higher powered bikes. But my point was that 150hp now is not considered 'higher powered' as in 2021 we are in a world of 200+hp bikes (My H2 has been remapped to put out 260hp to the bike tyre, with a Vandeom H2R race system on it, chain changes on the supercharger, changes to clutch plates and springs) - without a lot of electronic intervention that would be very difficult to ride on the road. Its putting out more than twice the horsepower of the 998S FE at the crank. Thanks for sharing your views of the Ducati compared to an Aprilla and how you moved to Aprilla. My friend also moved to Aprilla at the time and interestingly he had nothing but engine issues - which is almost ironic considering that Ducati of the 1990s were considered very unreliable. In fact I owned a 916 in the 90's after watching Carl Fogarty win races for most of my youth and the indicators cut out on a long journey to Cork in Ireland, when it started to Rain. We can all thank Audi for their input into the electrics after they bought Ducati as part of the VW Group. I was quite happy to pick up a testastretta 998 Final Edition a while ago, to keep as a collectors piece, very hard to find now!) Aprilla made some great bikes using the Rotax engine in the day, but its sadly not a bike now that has increased in value or seen as 'iconic' - certainly the prices for my 998 S FE have gone up and you often see a few selling for close to £30,000. We live in interesting times with more available, reliable bikes open to a wide audience of riders with different tastes.
The V4 does have a "reduced power" mode, which drops peak power to 120hp or so. I have mine setup so the Street mode uses reduced power. The Sport and Race modes use full power, with Race mode having the max throttle sensitivity. Seems like the best of both worlds. Street mode when cruising around town, and full power modes when conditions allow.
@@heart.of.ease.3659 I don’t know what the peak torque number is in reduced power mode, it’s not listed in the manual. But it feels very tame compared to full power mode. Hi massive fan! What would be a good comparison is Streetfighter V4 to Streetfighter V2 in real wold conditions, on the road and maybe on a very small track to see what one can do on the road.
Any specific comments on this bike vs a Street Triple RS? I know they’re chalk and cheese in characters but anything at all? Would love to hear your opinion between the two. Thank you again for this lovely review. Cheers.
How would old Ducati Monster 1100 stand against these new Ducati’s? I have one and it can easily wheelie with throttle on first and second gear and it has just 95hp. Wondering how those new bikes would feel with all that power. But I assume that power delivery is very restricted on first 3 gears even though it has 150hp, because even old air cooled monster doesn’t feel that slow up to 110mph.
The old air cooled, two valve Monsters have much more low down strength. Just where it's needed on the road. More fun, engaging and great for 'off the throttle' wheelies . The newer panigale engines were made as short stroke, oversquare, high revving machines for racing. They are still exciting in a different way. However for me I prefer the air cooled bikes. Sadly emissions laws have killed them off and the new 1100 scrambler is not really the same. I would keep hold of your old Monster if I were you 🙂
Tuono mate. V4>>>V2, no matter how good Ducati can be at building awesome V2’s. Now, if you compare the Tuono with the V4S, it will likely come 2nd to the Duc.
Isn't there anything that can help with the Heat? Like maybe a different coolant. Redlline mixed with Distilled water perhaps. Or open up the air around the engine some how.?
I love Ducati looks but I still dont trust their quality control and reliability. My riding buddy bought a Panigale V2 and in less than 1000 miles issues with the clutch and already going back to the dealer.
I've owned almost 14 Ducati's from 2007 until now, most of them the new models. Their reliability isn't an issue at all, could've been either a manufacturing defect which can happen to any manufacturer or the way your friend broke in the bike. Hope you reconsider !
I've owned Ducati's for 20+ years (currently a Monster 1200s) and I've always had an excellent experience. Find a good dealer - even if a bit of travel is needed - and you'll be in fine shape.
@@atastefortheroad4475 Thats good to hear. I've come so close to buying one but because of dealer support where I live I've never pulled the trigger. But I'd love to own this bike or the Panigale V2 as a track bike.
@@IDontKnow-bb6mt if you do decide to purchase one hopefully you can find a good dealer. The main thing with them is to make sure you follow the break in as recommended, they can see your data logging during that time and some have had their warranty voided by just thrashing on the bike. Apart from that, if you get an exhaust through the dealer it's also full warranty, and lastly if you live in a very dusty area, don't install the sprint filter and instead use the stock paper filter because the sprint racing filters have issues sealing and keeping out the fine dust, which leads to excessive oil consumption and eventually a new motor sooner haha. Apart from these aspects you'll be gold !
That’s cool, but it’s name is “street fighter” so how does that front bias weight and the “fall in corner” thing work there where the speeds don’t rise.
Depends on where you live and what type of riding you plan to do, in our area a v4 is useless due to the fact there's no local roads to use that power without getting arrested and all of our race tracks are too small to utilize the power. Someone would be better off with a v2 and an akra than a v4 even all modded out. Both are amazing machines. 😊
V2 is not any lighter, same weight, but less power. You have street mode with reduced power on v4 if you really need to. No reason to go v2 other than money

You won't regret staying in the middle weight, most experienced track riders up here are like me and we downgraded from the Litre bikes because it's more fun to go through the gears. Hope that can help with your decision! At the end it's all in your cornering skills to see who's really the quickest 😊
Been debating to buy the V2 or V4. I don’t understand the point about the V4 having too much power. I currently ride a 200hp ZX14r and never thought it was too much. @@richardcerritelli9657I definitely don’t need a smaller sprocket as it will power wheelie all the way through 1st & 2nd gears without even full throttle.

@@richardcerritelli9657 Yeah I get it. My point is, if you have tall gearing, 200hp, and still can’t put it all down without practically laying on top of the handlebars, smaller gear ratios and a more upright position isn’t going to help you out the power down so it’s not going to be noticeably faster.

No cruise control is a deal breaker. I've torn ligaments and had surgery in my right wrist, so have limited mobility and strength. I've gone for the base Tuono instead, mainly for the CC.
Really irritates me to hide behind safety when talking about rider aids! How about a motorcyclist perfect your riding skills and not buy bikes that are beyond your personal capabilities, because a bike looks cool. In my opinion if you can’t ride the bike without the aids, the bike is over your head. You may have more money than skill.
Agree with buying a bike within your skill level.. but rider aids are good as a safety net; especially on the street where there are lots of unpredictable factors at play. They’re not meant to save a rider every few minutes.. I’ve never had a bike with a lot of rider aids (only ABS on my current one) but i would welcome them if they’re there.

I like it more than the current Monster too...
Hi massive fan! What would be a good comparison is Streetfighter V4 to Streetfighter V2 in real wold conditions, on the road and maybe on a very small track to see what one can do on the road.
God this bike looks good from every angle
V2 Streetfighter or Tuono V4? The price is the same here in Sweden.
Why does the one ridden has wings while the one in the cinematics doesn't?
Great bike, great colour Red 🔴.
I wonder how it compares to the Triumph Speed Triple RS 1200 regarding handling in the road and track?
Soothing review, easy on the ears and old brain. 👌🙂👍
More reporters/reviewers could learn a thing or 2 from your style.
Any specific comments on this bike vs a Street Triple RS? I know they’re chalk and cheese in characters but anything at all? Would love to hear your opinion between the two. Thank you again for this lovely review. Cheers.
Still love my Tuono Factory 😁
Still getting the v4
How’s the heat stuck in traffic ?
I would keep hold of your old Monster if I were you 🙂
Been waiting for this review. Nice breakdown. Thanks Mike. Tuono v4 or Streetfighter v2 for the streets?
@@atastefortheroad4475 👍
Is it as Fun as the 890 Duke R..🤔🤔🤔🤔
yep ordered one a week ago… been told though i have to wait till March… :(
This or the hypermotard...any thoughts?
Same problem
I’ve heard this before… but man, I want the v4 if I’m shelling out all the $
Hows the heat management? I’m guessing you didnt’t do too much slow speed town work.?
Weird question, what model is that suit?
Michael, great video as always. Is the riding position somewhere between the Monster and the Supersport or is it very much like the Monster?
When's MCN going to review the 2022 Tmax?
Do you think that this bike would have a more or less comfort seating position than a 2020 Speed triple rs?
Yes. Better than that.
Partial twin spar frame? Which is better
What would you prefer on the track ? This or the Street Triple RS?
when's mcn getting a 2022 tmax to review?
What a great review. Why would I pay all that money for this?
How does it wheelie though? Coming from a Monster 1200s.
Whats the rev ceiling limit.???
MR. Neeve, Touno or v2 SF?
That’s cool, but it’s name is “street fighter” so how does that front bias weight and the “fall in corner” thing work there where the speeds don’t rise.
So if i had 10 to 15 grand to spend on a bike at 62 yrs old you would recommend this bike?
Can this be a 2nd bike considering my first bike is monster 797😊
How does it compare to say a GSXR750, or Others?
Can u compare it with monster 1200?
Does it struggle to wheelie like v4
The only italian word you need to remember: Tuono. Smoother down low, better sounding, wind protection, and more HP ...
Which competes with the V4(s), not the V2.
@@sandorbergsma beats both and costs less than the V2. Tuono is KING 👑
I love the reviews you guys do.
So if money is no object…. Streetfighter V2 or V4?
Depends on where you live and what type of riding you plan to do, in our area a v4 is useless due to the fact there's no local roads to use that power without getting arrested and all of our race tracks are too small to utilize the power. Someone would be better off with a v2 and an akra than a v4 even all modded out. Both are amazing machines. 😊
V2 is not any lighter, same weight, but less power. You have street mode with reduced power on v4 if you really need to. No reason to go v2 other than money
@@bbbonthemoon V4 it is!
Now do I want standard or S. HHahahaha
@@heart.of.ease.3659 I kinda agree.
I live in SoCal. We have street lights every 10yds. Canyons are crowded. And cops are looking for reasons to get you.
But dang my ego wants that V4. Hahahaha
@@HBChandler haha yeah, I actually went from owning an 848, to a 1098, to a monster 1200r, then back down to a 2019 Supersport 939S, after the 848, the Supersport S was my favorite bike and I was faster on the local track with that than any other. You won't regret staying in the middle weight, most experienced track riders up here are like me and we downgraded from the Litre bikes because it's more fun to go through the gears. Hope that can help with your decision! At the end it's all in your cornering skills to see who's really the quickest 😊
This or a aprilia tuono v4. For the street . The pris is the same for me in my country.
I was going to put my deposit down, but in the end paid an extra £1500 and went Tuono V4 Factory
Been debating to buy the V2 or V4. I don’t understand the point about the V4 having too much power. I currently ride a 200hp ZX14r and never thought it was too much. Worried it’ll feel slow compared to my Ninja as I would be selling the Ninja to fund this. Anyone understand what Neevesy, and numerous other journalists, mean about it being too much for the road?
I have a GSXR Hayabusa over 100 mph in first gear you're talking to me about too much power LOL but I do love this bike more upright more comfortable naked bikes to me are more appealing for the streets when I ride my Hayabusa I am so beat up and I was thinking about getting bigger Sprocket in the back to take advantage of the power at the low end
@@richardcerritelli9657I definitely don’t need a smaller sprocket as it will power wheelie all the way through 1st & 2nd gears without even full throttle.
@@ryanmalone2681 no I'm talking about my bike the Hayabusa totally geared differently from a naked bike naked bikes a geared low my bike goes over 100 in first gear I was thinking about trading it in for a Naked Bike so much easier to work on just a better bike for the streets
Anyone have an opinion on this or the monster as far as comfort goes? I road the Diavel and I liked it, but I just like the way these look more. I’m a 6’2 230lb former Harley rider. Looking to switch to a sport bike. Just want some feedback from people with more experience.
Monster should be a little more comfortable
This or supersport 950s?
Is that Steering damper came as standard with the bike or add ons?
standard.
I Want you to test a vitpilen 701.🔥👌
What's the difference between this and the Monster? Seems like these bikes are in the same market.
The monster is more of a standard style bike whereas the streetfighter is a superbike chassis and engine (in this case a super supersport)with upright bars and without the fairings.
@@benchaggaresmusic Gotcha. Thanks. I guess my follow up is why would someone buy a Duc Monster over a SF V2? Seems like these two bikes would compete over the same market.
@@motosagela there's around a 5k price gap between them so that's a factor and insurance will also play a role in which bike to choose
I thought About buying this V2 but I don’t like the torque curve
So bought a monster , till 8000 rpm it has more torque
I like the looks of the streetfighter but I don’t want it to ride it in first and second gear al the time
@@supertjeduc in that case another good choice would have been the 848 streetfighter
This is one bike I'd consider leaving my MT10 for, but the price/power/features triangle is too difficult for me to square...
No cruise control is a deal breaker. I've torn ligaments and had surgery in my right wrist, so have limited mobility and strength. I've gone for the base Tuono instead, mainly for the CC.
Shoot out with duke 890r and mt09sp

Ducati Sf v2 or Suzuki Katana ?
this is a joke right?
@@Notoxic30 Katana is better in all sens ..
Budweiser paint scheme.
Self bleeding MC? Is it an improvement from years past where you have to bleed them pretty frequently?
So how much cheaper is this than the V4 ?
5 k
