I absolutely love this! Could have been that the audience wasn't ready for Elvis style of Rhythm and Blues? How wrong was this Jim person! 😆 Go back to driving a truck Indeed! Ty Spa guy for another great piece of history!
Thank God Elvis didn’t listen to ole Jim Denny. I couldn’t imagine the world without Elvis and his music.Thank you for sharing this story Billy. Stay safe and God Bless❤️
Well hello spa guy, you are only 6 and a half hours away from hearing the best tape you Will ever hear from elvis. Remember I am in Panama city beach Florida and you are always welcome!
Glad that never happened, We needed Elvis in our world, so very happy Elvis got on with his music for the world to have all of him... Thank you for doing what you did best, Elvis Presley, a beautiful life .
In a movie back right after Elvis passed where Kurt Russel played Elvis he went to the Opry and when the guy said that about driving a truck he went down to the dressing room and totally smashed up his guitar. I knew what was coming so I stuck my fingers in my ears. Made a lot of noise. One question to everybody. Even you Billy. Have you ever had to explain something Elvis did to a friend or family member? I've had to do that to my daugther in law . When we got home from the movie she walks up to my velvet painting of Elvis and say, "You sure are a strange one." I just laughed at her. WE(his fans) understand him. Everybody else just thinks he weird or something.
Take no notice of what people say at the end of the day its them who are missing out. How can millions of Elvis fans be wrong and the odd one be right. A bit of jealousy comes to mind.
If Elvis did listen to Jim Denny, I wonder what music would be like today and what singers we wouldn’t have because of Elvis! My bet is that music would be completely different for the worse without him. Great video Billy 👍
I bet that hurt that poor youngins feelings . That had to have broke his heart and I bet he was mad , but I'm so glad Elvis didn't give up !! Ole what's he's name , did miss out . lol !! 😉 Thank you Spa Guy for sharing another great story with us !! BTW .. I would love to have that shirt too !!
Hi Billy 😊, I Can speak for All Elvis Fans, I'm So Glad Elvis didn't listen to him, and he continued to follow his dream, Thank you Elvis! Thanks for sharing Billy 😊 Enjoyed video today 😊, Bonnie
I often wonder if this broke Elvis’s heart?! Can you imagine had Jim Denny lived to see Elvis in later years and what an incredible icon Elvis became..something we’ll never know. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Spa Guy keep the goatee .. the Ryman, I was blessed with many trips there with my Grandparents, seen so many of the greats it was truly special ... great story! :)
You’re a unique talent Mr. Spa Guy. Making in depth research (you could have been a great archeologist) entertaining is rare and you’ve managed that. Of course, the subject matter doesn’t hurt..if you know what I mean. Thanks for all that you do!
This is one of those times where you insert ‘hold my beer’ I’ll be back segments. Lol. Elvis sure did have the last laugh. Man to have that shirt!! I’m thinking it could easily be worth $100k as its such a piece of history! If only!
Wow amazing how some people would just say anything at times just to say something friends .. lol Elvis tighten up and didn't go back to driving a truck my friend !!!
No telling what it would of been like today if Elvis would of listened to Jim Denny I bet you wouldn't of had half of some of the singers we have today
Jason Abel half? I think you’re way off and more like most singers!! Just image just how different things would be. Epic! Elvis changed not only a generation but the world as far from a cultural view. Great comment and observation!!
Wow, I can't imagine that anyone telling Elvis to go back to driving a truck, even only 90 days into his career. Yep, that was Jim Denny was wrong and I wonder if he ever regretted telling Elvis that? I can't imagine how crush Elvis was after hearing that. That was a low blow to him for sure. Thanks for this video, very interested and shocking!
I think that Elvis was so far ahead of the times in music. I had always heard this story but had never heard the name of who made that comment to Elvis. Boy, I'm glad that Elvis didn't listen to Jim Denny. Thank you Billy for all of the great Elvis history.
I wonder what Jim Denny think! He looked at Elvis like a boy won’t be as famous as someone special? Sooooo nice he didn’t keep up his carrier. The most gorgeous, handsome, generous, humble, dedicated, popular, everythings that man had.RIP Elvis the world missed you .
Perhaps the Jim Denny truck driver remark made Elvis a better performer, manager and people person. Elvis always seemed well prepared/rehearsed and treated people like he liked to be treated. Of course we might have missed out on some good trucking songs...
That was sad,,,that guy really miss out on a famous person a very good singer and play movies very good you go Elvis miss you Elvis Presley you are sadly missed by everyone
Incredible story just like the man who turned down the Beatles these gentlemen go down in history for the wrong reasons. Thanks spaguy for this incredible info.into this story
Denny was only 52 when he died - wonder what happened? Also, good that Denny got to see him become a major recording and movie star!! I think GK wrote in his book that Denny wanted to see Elvis once while in Hollywood.
I like so so many am very glad that Elvis didn't listen to him because at a young age a knockback like that is tough.. scares the life out of me to think of a world without Elvis Presley in it ... TCB
Watching this video reminds me of a scene in "Elvis The Movie" with Kurt Russell. In the film Elvis smashes his guitar after being told to go back to driving a truck. Good Job Elvis didn't take the advice of Jim Denny!!
It's seems like I remembered hearing this story years ago. I believe it was on Ralph Emerys show Nashville Now. I may be wrong. Elvis had the last laugh on that one. Shave and a haircut 2 bits...lol. God bless Spa Guy
I've also heard the George Klein story that went a little further on Jim Denny. Apparently at one point Jim Denny came across Elvis in a hotel in Hollywood and asked him for a job or at least a reference in getting a job. Elvis was nice to him but as soon as he left the room he cursed him and when they asked Elvis why he was mad, he told them that he was the guy who told him to go back to driving a truck.
Omg 😮 that’s nuts. Well anyone out there watching this that has a dream should keep following and go right past people like that. Anyone can be wrong no matter how good they are at their job!
Thanks for getting us another part of the puzzle.. but actually I don't think I'll ever bother to stop by his site.. but I will get to Graceland again.
Mas o lugar do Elvis era o palco, onde não só arrebentava, mas incendiava.. Subiu tanto que tornou-se uma LENDA. A mais linda Lenda de todos os Contos de Fadas...
Very interesting, giving a timeline on how many days had passed from Elvis' first hit "That's Alright Mama" until he hit The Opry. Things had to be flying for Elvis,Scotty,& Bill right now. Always think from time to time,, if Sam Phillips' secretary never called Elvis' (mother) to have him come back to Memphis Recording Service if Elvis would have found another avenue, to get into recording. With getting shot down by JD after Opry performance this could have been a deterrent as well. No hill for a stepper like Elvis though!! Thanks again.
Ah ,j'ai fait achat dvd. Elvis,1973 à Hawaï.
Quel chanteur magique ,je le connais depuis 1960
Je l'aime plus que tout
Never, never forever. Elvis

Knew the story about Elvis and going back to driving a truck. In the end Elvis had the Last Laugh on Denny.

Moral of this video: We all have Jim Denny's in our life. Tighten up and ignore them! Awesome SG!
If Elvis did listen to Jim Denny, I wonder what music would be like today and what singers we wouldn’t have because of Elvis! My bet is that music would be completely different for the worse without him. Great video Billy 👍

Fast forward a few months...Elvis be like “How do you like me now?”

Very good answer. I had to laugh when I read that.
This is one of those times where you insert ‘hold my beer’ I’ll be back segments. Lol. Elvis sure did have the last laugh. Man to have that shirt!! I’m thinking it could easily be worth $100k as its such a piece of history! If only!
Exactly. I wonder if there's anything on record about what Jim Denny thought of Elvis success after he told him to go back to driving a truck.
@@clifffor1179supposedly he apologized later on
Wow amazing how some people would just say anything at times just to say something friends .. lol Elvis tighten up and didn't go back to driving a truck my friend !!!

Denny was only 52 when he died - wonder what happened? Also, good that Denny got to see him become a major recording and movie star!! I think GK wrote in his book that Denny wanted to see Elvis once while in Hollywood.
