  • In this video, I go over a couple ways to fix some of the Lumix S9 "issues" while also giving a couple ideas that can help improve the camera overall with a simple firmware update.

Step 1: Buy a camera that fits your needs. Hint: if you need viewfinder, flash, shutter, headphone jack, unlimited record times, then this is not it.
If you need those, Panasonic has already made a camera for you: the S5II.

for sure! and plenty of videos on my channel about the s5iix 😉

Ricoh GRIII sells just fine without a viewfinder. Not every camera needs to cater to your needs. Especially an entry level camera

besides fixing recording tine limits, Lumix might be able to use bluetooth connection to create a small LED based flash which could be used to take photo and continued light for small video clips. make it prolonged instead of standard cube shape . have it run on rechargeable aaa size battery

Really wish Lumix would embrace more capabilities in Bluetooth on all their cameras besides the S9. For example, Timecode via Bluetooth for easier use of external timecode sync without using an audio channel.

Unfortunatley I think they undervalued the S5II, with hopes of improving market saturation but that has made pricing this difficult. £1200 is a much better price for this camera, considering the S5II offers so much more at a relativley small bump in price. Heck I chose the S5II over the X as I have a Atomos Ninja V, the value is unbeatable. I hope they price the S1 range wisely (not too high, not too low etc)

I agree. The S5 without pdaf is great used. But that's because, new, it didn't appear to be a big seller for Panasonic. Panasonic's camera range, with pdaf, is very small. I hope they get more models out on time to sell them.

I think I will wait until they do a good deal with the 18-45 when released. I just got a s5 ii with the 20-60, 50mm and 35mm for £1800 new in the uk. Currently you can get the s5 II for £1250 body only new with Panasonics lates promotion. That kind of promo is just going to damage s9 and gh7 sales when they launch.

I don’t think the S9 needs “saving”, if some MUST have those features just get the S5II. I’ll take the compromises to have such compact and powerful camera.

Well I guess as a person I would love just a 30 minute limit ability but I’m starting to use this as a Broll camera for some future videos starting next week. But I would so use this for my TH-cam talking to camera

Lumix always sets the price a little high and within 6-12 months there are great deals. I bet the 12-40 lens package will be good pricing.I already see Education discounts in the $1375 range.

Matthew, I'd imagine you're asking for some horrific "red eye" artifacts in your photos with that bright lamp directly over the lens! This video gets points for your other ideas though. 💪🏽

I wouldn't mind having a simple viewfinder to frame each focal length-thanks for the suggestion! The S9 will have more utility and value when they make a range of 2.8 autofocus compact prime lenses. That 20-60 you are showing looks ridiculous on that body, and it's already a pretty small lens.

      @MatthewDangyou  หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah for sure! The 18-40 will be a good combo with this lens and prices should be down for the camera then too :)

Wrong camera for using all that crap. Its a travel camera. No need for all the extra junk.

i.... don't think lumix needs to fix the s9. hahaha i think people needs to fix their idea on product target groups. not for you means not for you. lol.
idk what's the point of echoing the same requirements for everrryyyyy camera. different models for different things.
the only thing the s9 that would "fix" the s9 would be faster sensor readout, and more compact lenses that LOOK COOL. hahaha
this camera looks cool, but paired with the current lens lineup, it's abit meh? 18-40mm should have beeen launched with this as the kit.

Pair the S9 with the Sigma 45mm f2.8, the lens given away by Panasonic when the S5 came out.

Agree, I shoot music vids too with the S5II, and the S9 has all the features I would need for that

I do not think the S9 needs saving. It is not intended as a TH-cam talking head camera.
I agree, it could be cheaper. And it definitely needs a 2.8 AF pancake lens.

For sure! I think though on the flip side a lot of short-form creators would like to eventually want to do longer form YT so even a 30 minute limit would be helpful

S9 needs flash capability, so hot shoe & mechanical shutter, good for rolling shutter as well.
    Small f2.8 prime lenses; 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm.
Optical viewfinder with various focal lengths (24,28,35,50,85) marked inside the viewfinder.
    I use Panasonic m43.

In my opinion, this camera is directed to compete against a the pocketable Fujifilm cameras..
so unless you’re using the camera as a Fujifilm user - taking pictures with them no flash light. Preparing tiny lenses. And Not focusing too much on video.
Trying to get the final look baked into the photos.. -
    Then Don’t bother buying it.
    Don’t forget that S5ii exists.

😂😂😂 really ? Just compare your viewfinder with a 8 year old Gx8 viewfinder …. Are you joking ? … the lonely way is a S9 II … just forget this joke !

No one can save you from the "hell" you entered through your own fault.
Question: Which other camera (of any company) has the HDMI port on the right side???

Save the S9 ? Just don't buy it ! So Lumix can learn from their mistakes.
