Over all, I would pick the GH7. Lack of 4k60 without crop, 4k120, ProRes RAW, 32bit audio, 1080p 240fps, Tally light, more useful buttons , Tilt-flip LCD are things that cannot be replicated on S5iiX but the advantages of S5iiX over the GH7ike low light & shallow DoF can be overcome by adapting full frame lenses via speed booster ,
Hello, I am a Gh6 user and I am always doubtful about low light. I have never tried a full-frame lens to increase light capture. I work in many theaters and I am always afraid. Do you think the full frame lens is really noticeable with the adapter?
A huge point here will be info about AF with Metabones SpeedBooster. There are a lot of people (like me) with an old GH5+Metabones speedbooster and Canon Glass who will be pleased to use it with th GH7
I will replace my GH4 with a GH7, since my lenses are all m43. If I need more than ISO 4000, I'm lighting the scene, anyway. If I need MORE bokeh and LESS depth of field, I'm out of my genre, anyway. Much of my work involves photographing slides, transparencies, and film negatives (camera scanning), so the increased depth of field on the 30mm macro lens is welcome! The good news is, both formats are great. Lumix will continue to evolve their feature set. No doubt, the replacement for the S1H will be more like the GH7 than the S5IIX.
I own a GH6 and love it for many things. I am sure the GH7 is even better, as it has phase detection autofocus and even better IBIS. But one thing I hate about it is the depth of field. With full-frame lenses, it is much easier to create a shallow depth of field even with wide lenses. If you can afford it, I think it will be great to have both 5iix and GH7.
@@ElPhoquosRosso cheaper. Thats not true. I used mft before. The lens, especially the pro level it hell expensive, the ultra wide lens is way more expensive than some of the full frame ultra wide. The camera, is hella expensive too. GH7 is about the price of some of amazong fullframe camera
Yeah price for high quality glass is pretty close to the same. Like the 10-25 f1.7, 12-35, 9mm, these are some pretty expensive lenses. Sure the 25 f1.7 or 14-42 are out there but they don’t really achieve the same results as full frame does
@@MatthewDangyou it is. Thats why I changed to full frame, but MFT is really good with the size. And the video and photo quality are amazing. It is a fun system to work with
I have learned that the S5iix will get prores raw later this year, but iam pleased with internal BRAW to edit easier in Resolve. Panasonic should make an insertable OLPF just like BM. Moire is very bad on the S5iix thank you
The "already has a crop" argument doesn't make any sense I think. The sensor has a crop factor, not an actual crop. Honestly the best is being in both system. Been doing that for a while (with pre-hybrid AF cameras) and it's absolute bliss. Good idea with the Discord server as well!
If I have to pick one like most people, it's gonna be full frame, which is the more versatile system and the focal point of lens development these days.
@@frankfeng2701 its Not the most versatile. I can put a 14-140 lense in my Pocket and i can do everything. 14-140 would be a 28-280 in full frame.. try to put such a lense in you pocket🤣
@@ElPhoquosRossoThe speed booster is a focal reducer, so the mechanics of it actually make it collect more light so basically you get a stop+ of more light.
I have a mft camera and a super35. Im pretty interested in the full frame s5iix. Im a little confused about the different crops for the s5iix depending on frame rate, etc. A 2 times crop of full frame is the same as no crop mft. So is it actually a problem on the s5iix at all?
That is when you are shooting 4K 48 or 60fps which is a 1.5X crop (ASPC) and using the electronic stabilization on high which is like a 1.4X crop which ends up cropping in around (so 24mm turns into a 36mm which turns into roughly a 50mm with high e-stabilization)
For me…. And I know other will disagree… but I’d prefer the GH7 because it has the tilt rear screen option, which is so much better for filmmaking than the damn side hinged selfie screen.
GH7 >>>>>> S5iix Unless you absolutely need to push the ISO and can't use extra light...that'd be the only reason for the S5IIX for me...bokeh is whatever, videographers should rarely shoot under f2.8/4 (which is f1.4/2 on MFT) so even if you buy like a 85/1.8 for FF, you'll use it at 4-5.6. If you buy a 42.5/1.7 for MFT you can use that at f2-2.8 easily for same DoF and you get extra light for your sensor
True! Not a ton of lenses at an F1.4 though and not any zooms at that. The closest you get is an f1.7 but for interviews I shoot a lot of the time in F2.2 which is pretty hard to achieve in MFT 🤷🏼♂
The GH7 shoots raw, but how are you gonna use it? Da Vinci doesn’t like it, but likes braw very much. And it’s totally true that you can’t shoot on the S5 internally, but at least you can grade it. You are talking about the e-stabilization, and the crop on the S5, but you didn’t mention the crop on the GH7 with it. And it would be a total of what? 3x crop? How are you going to find a wide enough lens? Coming from a Gh5, I’m pretty sure I’d love the GH7, but I was searching for something more usable in low light condition (the Gh5 really suffer without good lights) and I’m very pleased with the S5 II X. And I can always buy the GH7 and sell the Gh5 (when I have money to invest again), which I will probably do 😀
Well I edit in Final Cut so pretty easy to edit and use RAW for me, for crops most MFT lenses are already Full Frame equivalent. So 12-35 is like a 24-70 so yes it has a crop which effects bokeh the focal length is like the same.
