Great video. You explain it so I can understand it. I need to learn the acronyms what settings do what. I installed 4 of these systems for friends, one just last evening. I used an access point at the client end last night. That was plug and play. I have trouble getting a router configured on the client end of the bridge setup. Do you have video on the settings for using a router as an access point? Again, a great video.
Few additional questions, if you don't mind... Intend to mount a pair of these near the top of the gable on two different buildings. I'll be using a pair of old (modified) directv satellite pole mounts. The question is; should we do anything else to ground these devices? Any recommendations about the best type/brands of outdoor ethernet cables to use? Finally, any advice about surge protection? From what I have seen most surge protectors have troublesome joule or clamping ratings; and/or they lack a way to also protect your ethernet. I would love to hear your opinions about this, and I'm sure many of your subscribers would as well. Thanks again for all your work, I really appreciate it.
These bridges do not have grounding cables, but you can use an inline ethernet surge protector. You can find them on amazon for $10. We use Southwire outdoor cat5 or cat6 cable from Home Depot, you can order it online as well. I prefer Belkin surge protectors myself, never had a problem with them in all my years. Hope that helps.
I am having a hard time deciding what to buy. I'm software savvy (3D modeling, office, + many others) but not IT savvy. I know nothing of DNS, gateway, TCP/IP, proxies or anything about networking. One of the disadvantages of having Macs with mostly plug and play. I have fiber optic cable from my internet provider to my WIFI modem in my house and want to bring internet to my steel building about 75 feet away since my design computer has software that needs to phone home for authorization and I need WIFI for my mini split so I can control it from my house. Is this the right product for me? I'm concerned about keeping my WIFI network secure since I don't know much about advanced settings on networks.
You can disable with WiFi SSID broadcast on the bridges for security purposes. You can also hardwire the PC to the client bridge LAN port or install a wireless router in the steel building. They are secure though, I’ve never had an issue. They come default with a SSID broadcast of 5GHz and password of 888888 so you would definitely want to change that or disable completely as discussed above. It’s easy to do.
Glad to have found your channel. Seems like you can disable wifi from the settings menu. Is it possible to disable it and still be able to create a bridge? Someone at KuWfi said you can; although I’m not sure they understood english well enough to comprehend what I meant. Aware the device has to transmit wirelessly from point to point, just don’t want a wifi broadcast coming back into the house.
When a channel is changed on the host, the client will adjust automatically based on the host as they are cloned by mac. If you change the IP settings from static to DHCP or change the default password, you would log into the client. I have used alot of these this spring when other manufacturers were out of stock on bridges and Ive got to tell you they are pretty impressive.
Small caveat mentioned in the "Part II" video ( th-cam.com/video/cNrE56JJ4xk/w-d-xo.html ) -- Client device needs to be powered up (plugged in to POE) when changing settings on Host device.
These are bridges, they are intended to transfer Wi-Fi from one point to another, not to act as Wi-Fi access points. If you are trying to connect clients or devices to it for Wi-Fi, you would want a regular AP not a bridge.
@@WentworthCCTV Thanks, could you recommend a product that would work, I'm an HVAC guy and not very savy with this type of stuff just trying to get wifi to my parents house, we buried cat 6 cable and added at poe switch at my router ro boost the signal through the cable and that didn't work then we tried the bridges, would a poe extender mid way in the cat 6 cable work? I read cat 6 is only good for about 330 ft and we have around 400 ft of cable.
They are shipped pre configured. You dont have to do anything. Plug in the PoE and run a cat6 cable from the PoE port of the injector to the WAN port of the bridge. The H is the host bridge that connect to your internet via the other port on the PoE injector. It is the LAN Port. Do the same to the client bridge and they work out of the box.
The units ship with a 20 MHz channel width. Log into unit and change that to 40 or 80 MHz (some bridges only have 40). Next, do an airspace scan to find a non-congested channel on the 5Ghz frequency. Lastly the bridges come shipped at 192.168.188.100 and 192.168.188..253. Log into them and change the static IPs to assigned by gateway. This will increase throughput. I have gotten close to 1000 Mbps from these, so they do work.
i installed the system yesterday seems to be working good but when i installed on the house and garage (100 ft) away i am only getting 20 to 50 mbps. how do i get the full speeds of my internet connection? i just did the basic setup yesterday plug n play setup. any advice would be amazing and thank you for your video helped alot
Make sure they can see each other. Even at 100 feet they need line of site. They ship with a channel width of 20. Log into the host bridge and go to WiFi and change channel width to 40. Also, go into network and change the static IP to obtain from gateway automatically. That should give you more speed.
I have only used these as point to point bridges. They do have a broadcast SSID and password and you could see if the other client would connect to it but I would doubt it.
They are primarily used as bridge kits which you would connect a router or AP to. But yes, there is a broadcast SSID a device or two could connect to wirelessly.
thank you sir for your reply time. As you confirm me that the 3Gand 4G can also see it, would you give me a video or description to show me how to proceed it for I bought one but only 5G devices are able to see it, but in my area, there are many 3,G,and 4G. I will be glad to get the solution for I am so embarrassed and confused about how to get this issue solved now

I just bought one of these kits but have yet to set it up. Very helpful and timely video for me!
They are good, reliable little bridges.

The highest network speed that can be achieved max is 100Mbps. They have another model that can do 1000Mbps.

You don't say what your full speed is, but their ethernet sockets won't do more than 100mbps
Is this for PC only? My Chromebook doesn’t have an Ethernet option in the Network settings. Can this be done wirelessly?
You should be able to change the WiFi adapter from DHCP to static.
Do I do that through the KuWFi dashboard?
@@QaloriHQ no you do it on the chrome book in the wireless network settings.

My computer says I can’t save the ip settings
been using that for few years now
