Pointless to repair something unnecessary. Hence , iem with usb type C connection will reduce the fidelity if there's no DAC. Not all phone coming with HiRes DAC , built in. And even it's built in, not all will get connect to the usb port.

I think its time for every manufacturer move to Type C from 3.5mm plugs, no phone has 3.5mm jack these days.
