This is such a massive accomplishment. An entire history of the Trojan War executed so vividly. Would really love a similiar treatment of the Odyssey and the Aeneid. Excellent work
Eric Shanower's "Age of Bronze" makes this look like the badly rendered thing it is

I'm such an avid fan of Greek mythology that I read The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Eaniad & Robert Graves @ an early age. Now I'm in my 50's & still love Greek Mythology whole heartedly. My eyesight is not what it used to be so I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating the videos you have for us horrid eyesight, Greek Mythology lovers out here!
Greek mythology extends to Iranian mythology as well, in fact that whole region. It's very deep and I'm only now being serious with Greek Mythology. It would be nice to form a study club for the illiad.
I'm always confused, i read the german book/tale of the "Nibelungen". Equal to this story, you don't know what you reading, until you see some "one of a kind" trope, and it hits you. Trojan horse? Hagen? I know that, and then, you realize that in every fiber of our culture, there's some of the old. You can't erase the past to that degree.

Absolutely awesome. This version is unquestionably and by far the best version of the story ever told! This is all five star stuff guys. It includes all the details, nuances, and Characters that other versions leave out. An absolutely outstanding work of history and art. THANK YOU!!!!
No, it's not the best version. It's been slightly altered in some important scenes.

This is better than the movie Troy and does really represent and honor Homer's work, Iliad. Amazingly done, I can barely imagine how much work has gone into this production. Chapeau.
It's more accurate than the movie Troy but not completely. This still has some important changes too that don't match the Iliad.
@@ThePaganSun I'd say it's around 90-95% there, but I can't remember Iliad for 100% anyway, so I'm just guesstimating.
@tombullish3198 This video on TH-cam, you mean? Ehh it's closer to 85% - 90% accurate. But Agamemnon's aristeia for example was a LOT more epic than portrayed here and there were other changes as well.

It took me Almost 20 years after graduation and a long sleepless night to get into Greek mythology. Always loved history but boredom is how I became interested in mythology

@@Factwithdibakar Agreed. Viking and Indian legends are very interesting. SAme with all the old world ancient civilizations we're learning more about. There are a lot of great channels that cover all these topics on TH-cam today. One channel I enjoy a lot is Hammerson Peters, which makes tons of videos on Canadian Mythology from their tribes, fur traders, etc. Not to mention that he also does a lot of stuff about old legends like fairies, old medicine men, and even Bigfoot. 🤓

I never knew this story of the ILiad. Only the major parts. But now hearing the absolute full story it the beast story in the whole world. So exciting. Thank you for this. I shall watch this over and over again. Shared with everyone i know.
The Iliad only covers part of the tenth year of the war, ending with Hector’s death. It does not delve into the war’s set up and also its aftermath.
This isn’t the Iliad. The story of Troy is pieced together from numerous books/tales. The Iliad covers only a tiny fraction of the war

Ifigenia didn't die. At the last minute godess Artemis placed a deer in her place and Ifigenia served as a pristes in Artemis temple.

@@kanatokrazyActually she only died in the later Aeschylus. Homer never mentions her, Hesiod and the Epic Cycle claim she was saved and even Euripides (later than Aeschylus) also states she was saved.
When you hear this (a much more dedicated to telling the story in its original version) it's such a different and more rich story. Troy the movie for whatever reason cut out or left out bits critical to the story. Hearing those bits in here makes you think ohhhhh THATS how it was meant to be told hey

this is an amazing story and it plays somewhat like the Mahabharata it is truly fascinating that two different cultures came up with similar stories. The parallels are there is what I mean?

No, had that god been able to take no for an answer, Cassandra wouldn't have been cursed and people would have listened to her about Paris and the doom he'd bring. Let's not blame Cassandra for rejecting Apollo but rather blame Apollo for not taking no as an answer in peace.

Agamemnon sacrificing his daughter for his own hubris must be one of the saddest and most heinous parts of the iliad.
It wasn't IN the Iliad! It was part of a slightly later Epic Cycle and since in the earliest versions Iphigenia gets saved, it was no more heinous than Abraham almost sacrificing HIS son. And he did it not for hubris but because the goddess Artemis (or a prophet claiming Artemis) demanded it.
