@@lootmaster1337 Is it really free? This is a bit of an odd question but - for a person who edits video's say 3-4 hours a day, figures out scripts, content, and so on -and puts themselves out for the world to ridicule etc, is it really free?
Another way to consider it is - imagine you got say 2-3$ from every person you provided some positive experience to. Like made them smile when they were having a shit day, or convinced someone not to call it quits on life - how many people would end up with more than say 100$ in a year? People who stream have a positive impact on a lot of people - well, hopefully positive. It is entertainment, it is a voice giving word to thoughts we might have, it is a moment of inspiration to try something ourselves.
Gifts are, in a form, a payment - for being as you are, for who you are.

Another shout out to Asmon for doing this and hopefully this helps him realize just how special and important he is to so many of us. This was an amazing stream filled with laughs and happy emotions from start to finish, a W fucking stream.

Basically when he feels like it on his other channel.
He mostly plays FFXIV on the Asmon channel because that's where most of the content is in comparison.
He'll play WoW again probably when the next patch comes up... And if it manages to be fun again for him, then he'll probably play both FFXIV and WoW.
This stream was quality and the words written to him were the best part of it, showing just how far as a person he actually has come. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this live.

I think the point of what she said is: ''Since imma get forced to hear this, i might as well make it less miserable by seeing what the content is about.'' And then by accident she found out that Asmon had a really good content for her tastes, and that helped her hold on.
I mean, i know, thats REALLY bad regardless of the context. But she is still grateful that by a stroke of fate, she found some confort in that horible, horible situation.
It sounds like she would dissociate during the assaults, and focus on what Asmon was saying instead of what was happening to her, which brought her some level of comfort, and still does.
Man every time I watch asmongold I feel like he is the only true friend I have or the only friend I can relate to. Sometimes I get super upset realising how true that is in my brain. Not because of asmon but just the feeling of loneliness. Just thinking about watching asmons videos every morning just gets me through the day sometimes. I feel like there are a lot of others like me.

I'm happily surprised he didn't shy away from that abuse story. A lot of streamers/youtubers would have skipped over it, or censored. Also no over the top emotional reaction either. I appreciate the no bullshit way of handling it, as someone who has been through abuse myself, for me this is the best way to respond. Not trying to talk for others, just myself. Gave me a weird kind of relief watching it.
I just don't know why someone would write and send that to him in the first place. His chat is notorious for being "toxic," and he's not an emotional support streamer. Also the story about him being on in the background to cover up the sound of her being raped somehow giving her comfort is such nonsense. I'm not sure how else he could have responded to it tbh, it was super weird and attention seeking and the writer was clearly unstable. Any real acknowledgement of the content would be encouragement. I feel really bad for him, and would probably check all of the packages and letters before stream now if I were him.

The biggest part for me was the letter on 32 minute - from a person, who suffered from abusive relationships. Seeing that smile on Asmon's face was a priceless moment.
I dunno, I found it really weird tbh. Aside from the fact that there's no way you'd take comfort from the sound your abuser used to cover up the sound of him raping you, I also just think it's really strange that someone would write such a personal letter to a complete stranger knowing full well they would read it on stream to potentially hundreds of thousands of other strangers, especially when it's not a segment for personal letters. That's a bit attention seeking, and he seemed really uncomfortable to me. "That smile" felt like he was trying not to show anything resembling negative on his face because the writer was clearly unstable and he didn't know how to respond. I really hope people don't make a habit of sending letters like that when he's just trying to have fun. There's a time and a place.

Whoever wrote the letter either had terrible creative writing skills, or was so beyond help that they'd gone into full on delusions. There's no way, at all ever, that someone subjected to that much trauma would take comfort in and even come to idolise someone who was used as a tool in their abuse unless they're severely unstable and in desperate need of inpatient care. Some people can't go back to places where they were abused, can't listen to songs that remind them of it, can't smell perfume/cologne or foods or even certain plants because it causes visceral trauma responses, but this girl not only can tolerate that sound but actively seeks it out? And uses it as a reason not to end her own life? "Hey I was abused and he really idolised you to the point of using your videos to disguise the horrors he subjected me to and now I idolise you too and actually am only alive because of you!" Really? And he appreciates that? Really? I think way too many people live in a fantasy world of make believe tbh.
