First off, I'm quite surprise GNR wasn't inducted sooner. Despite all the crap the band has been through, they still made some of the most legendary rock and roll of all time.
As for Axyl being a no-show, I'm fine with that. I'd rather them play with a frontman that doesn't think he's better than everyone else there.

The balls of steel on Myles Kennedy to agree to fill in for Axl at the last minute, thinking Axl would still turn up at any second. He absolutely crushed it too. He's the dependable friend we all need in our lives.

As far as I can remember,Axl was still in a hostile state with other old band members...
Also Myles is about 42/43 at this performance. Axl has lost the range and tone that made him Axl. He sounds terrible. Twelve years later Myles is still BELTING stuff like this and his own stuff.
Watch interviews and he takes care of his ‘instrument’. His body health directly correlates. Axl is that overweight flabby former athlete that is OK but a shadow of his former self. Slash still slays but it not the same
Slash is a genius for choosing Myles to be his solo singer. For some reason, the GNR songs fit his voice naturally yet it sounds refreshing and not "forced"
and i like how he didn't just copy axl's style either, he did it his own way.
It's just so different when Steven is behind those drums. He's got the right feel and groove that no other drummer can pull off especially with this song.
Yeah really sad that he could not be on the comeback tour, he's one of the greatest rock drummers out there.

I love Adler, but Matt Sorum on Use Your Illusion II got me into drumming, he's got a great groove too
he wrote the drumming on this song, those beats are HIS. so that's just natural.

Exactly. Axl had a great voice in his prime but he doesn't sound good now and his attitude was always bad. Myles Kennedy is a stand up guy, fills in at short notice despite having to recreate some of the most iconic songs ever written in front of an audience expecting to see Axl Rose. That's a lot of pressure but he was phenomenal. He pitched it just right too, Myles didn't add too many of his own vocal inflections or highlight the unique timbre of his voice so as to change the spirit of the song or promote himself, he just sang the original really damn well to facilitate the performance for the rest GNR and let them shine. What a class act.
@thyop89 He truly is a class act. And he made it looks easy. He was very brave filling some big shoes, at least in the eyes of Guns and Roses fans.

I love seeing the huge photos of the band behind them. Beautiful. I love the photo at the beginning of the video. Great. So cute. I know looks don't matter, but G n R was one of those bands who not only had amazing talent but also had great looks which never hurts! You don't always get both!

The possible reason for Axl not to show up at the ceremony is maybe Slash? Because they hadn't communicate with each other for 16 years at that point.

Appetite is to me the only perfect album I have ever heard. Not one song I ever feel like skipping and I still listen to that album almost as much as I did when it came out and I was 10yrs old. Damn I feel old. That’s 34yrs I’ve been listening and loving that album. It’s crazy I can still pull that same feeling I got out of myself the first time ever heard nightrain or rocket queen or think about you (the guitars in that song during the chorus still hit me so hard) or sweet child or paradise or I’ll stop because like I said every song…..
Happy to see Adler, Axel, you do what you need to do to keep you safe. We'll never forget your legacy 😊
