    Notifications are sent to your phone every time an armed sensor is tripped, and it works with compatible smoke/CO detectors. I've tested every aspect of this system, and it has everything I wished my older ($2000 professionally installed system) had. It gives me a secure feeling when I can keep tabs on everything remotely. Set your ringtone for the monitoring number to a loud alarm sound to avoid missing (or ignoring) the call.
    Side note, I found that the ring keypad sometimes goes offline if you leave it always plugged in, then you have to scramble to disarm it from with the phone app before it alarms. I leave mine unplugged now until it alerts me to a low battery and have had no problems since.

    I have a ring alarm and I love it. They have always called me when the alarm went off. Smoke detector went off and they called.
    It's a great system, hands down.

    Great video. I’ve owned my RING system for nearly a year now and I LOVE IT. It’s very reliable and you can’t beat the $10 per month price. I switched to RING from Vivint whom was charging me $55 a month and didn’t include half the service I get from my ring system. I had my Vivint system for about 15 yrs and RING changed that for me. It’s definitely a do it yourself system and easy to do. Also the equipment has a lifetime warranty IF you subscribe to the $10 monthly monitoring and NEVER let it lapse. Very important to remember. I really love my system and am saving over $540 a year compared to Vivint.

      It’s also stupid easy and reliable to connect to HomeKit with Homebridge. Allows me to get around stupid limitations in the app like not being able to schedule when it arms in the evening and disarms in the morning. Also allows me to use things like various door and motion sensors to automate other devices in my house. The main issue I’ve had is the motion sensor triggering by mistake when away and sending the police to our house. No signs of entry (have Ring cameras front and back), no pets, nothing moved or fell over in this room. We had several flies in our house during that time and I think one of them sent the police. So that part wasn’t great.

    The problem with RING's water/freeze sensor is the alert is via email, not a text message to my phone. Frozen pipes are a concern up here in Alaska. So I went with a pp-Code sensor which has 3 distinct advantages: 1) The user can specify the threshold for temperatures, for example, send an alert if the temperature is above 70F or below 50F. 2) Text alerts whenever the threshold is exceeded. 3) The user can remotely look at hourly logs to see the exact temperature and trends for example 65F,62F,59F,55F 50F...etc.

    I’ve had my wired alarm system for years and is worked good but as my monitoring keeps going up and up Brinks now wants $55 a month for it ridiculous and the value that they offer keeps going down I’ve had several false alarms and not once did brinks call me to find out any if there was anything going on so the professional monitoring does not work I am happy to say I have installed my new ring alarm and so far I’m extremely happy with that considering I already had ring cameras which I have an a pro plus plan for that my monitoring is going to be included in that so I can hardly go wrong

    Here's what I did for a friend of mine. #1 back-up camera looking out the peep hole of his front door. #2 is facing 180 degree full view of the front yard. #3 & #4 is 180 on the sides of the house and #5 is full 180 of the whole back yard!!!! Motion activity trigger WiFi DVR and connects via app. All video images are crystal clear if you know what back-up cameras to buy and what DVR box to get!!.. all the camera's match the color of the house and they aren't noticeable in the day time and at night the IR ANTI-GLARE leds aren't able to be seen at night to the naked eye!!!! This is an easy installation - a 10 year old can install it!!!!!

    I have had SimpliSafe for years. Version 1 and now the new version 2 for almost a year. Great system, great indoor camera, great customer service. However it's $25 a month if you want all the features. So now I'm switching to ring protect which from what I can tell does a lot of the same things and for only $10 a month. I already have a ring doorbell that I'm paying for so now I'm thinking I probably should have made this switch a long time ago. I bought the 2nd gen ring protect that just came out, looking forward to putting it up. Just arrived today!

    I signed up for dfw security after my house was broken into while I was at work. It came with 3 door sensor's, 1 motion sensor, 1 camera ( video quality not that good), and a keypad front door lock that could be unlocked via the app. It costed around $55 a month with a 3 year contract. My contract is up next month. I just bought the Ring Alarm 8-piece kit (2nd Gen) kit with camera and free echo show 5 from amazon for $200.00. Can't wait to try out the ring and if I go pro monitoring I still save $40 a month. I already have the ring doorbell, I like it alot.

    In some areas of Atlanta now, Police will no longer respond to home security alarm calls because of how many false alarms there are. You have to have cameras outside where you can visually verify someone is messing around on the phone when you call them before they will come out. The noise from the alarms will usually keep people from staying in your house very long but having cameras as a second layer so you can verify things is going to get you help a lot easier.

    He did not mention, or may be I missed it, that Ring does send you notifications to your phone in case the system is set off, even if you do not subscribe to any of their plans. That is great! I've heard that Nest does the same.
    On the other hand, Simplisafe does not. You MUST subscribe to their most expensive plans, which is 25 bucks per month. It won't even let you turn on or off the system. Pretty lousy and the reason I did not go with Simplisafe.

This one was kind of hard to find a con because in the few months i've been using it i haven't really had any issues with it. It's a pretty strait forward system but my biggest problem is remembering to arm it. Luckily i can do that through the app after i leave. As for getting paid, my channel to way to small to get paid gigs from companies and if i get a product for free i'll always mention that in the beginning of the video. It is a great product. I do have two tips, be mindful where you buy and be ready to be more knowledgeable if you have to call in. If you buy as part of a promotion at a retailer or similar, you may not get the 10% as explained to me by Ring. Also, I have had to call the service line due to panel not taking my code during a test. The agent did not seem knowledgeable and I knew more as a new customer. However, I do stay up to date with tech so that could be it.

    Steve, are you still using Ring and what are your thoughts on it 2 1/2 years later? In building a new house, I picked Ring as I got a good deal on it and a POE Ring doorbell through Costco and Facebook Marketplace so my total cost thus far has been about $450 for the doorbell cam, 1 interior camera, and various sensors.

The stuff is like ahh right, pretty cheap.. You will need a wired connection for internet.. The Wifi on this thing sucks like no other it is really bad. But what you want for 150$ if you use wired internet

Also, they skip movement a lot and say photo not available sometimes, I don't know what that is about. I still got vandalized twice and my ring didn't catch anything. So i don't know but they are still just ok.

      Mike V Power it is smallest problem here, all this sensors, cameras... they all communicate thru WiFi signals and only when event trigger it, now you can guess what’s can go wrong. If criminal came to your door with WiFi jammer that anyone can buy for 5$ on eBay then camera don’t transfer video to cloud, sensor don’t transfer data about opening door, movement sensor don’t transfer signal that someone inside building ... etc. Bulglar can do anything just because all nowadays security systems fails from small pice of plastic for 5$. If your system can be wired then use wires, if not then put it in a trash.

    How Ring security system react on WiFi jamming? If in same way as SimpleSafe or Nest then it is another piece of junk.

    • @zurkeydurkey
      @zurkeydurkey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No idea, but it can use Cellular Backup if WiFi is disconnected (Ring Protect Plus plan needed for this feature). This keeps your whole Ring security system functional.

    • @il35215
      @il35215 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZurkeyDurkey Wrong, this is for connecting main base and cloud only, how it will help preventing blocking signals from sensors to main base? It is rhetorical question :-)

    • @zurkeydurkey
      @zurkeydurkey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@il35215 Oh I get what you are saying. Hm, in terms of the signal from the sensors to the main base station, I am unsure. I know the sensors use Z-Wave, but I don't know enough about that kind of technology to know what can block that kind of signal.

    • @il35215
      @il35215 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZurkeyDurkey I told you, there was testing on SimpleSafe system and it was blocked by cheap jammer easily. As I can understand all wireless systems using sensors that send signals only after some effect (opening door for example) it is not send signals every 100 milliseconds to base with message - “I am working, I am part of your system, no one replaced or jammed me”, obviously it will be dry out battery with in couple days. And this is huge vulnerability because criminals can block transmitting all signals and do everything they want and then leave, main base will never know that they was hear. Same problem with Ring cameras, I know it for sure, camera just stop sending data to cloud. I don’t know how about sensors ... but I can bet that they are cheap trash too.

    • @Koenigjay
      @Koenigjay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2
