I did not want a tall bowl for a sink either because I'm too short to reach over it. There are some designs that look interesting in a photograph, but really aren't practical for everyday family use.

As far as the open faucet.. my daughter has one and the calcium build up is there.. I on the other hand might have one with no issue.. One, I am retired and have the time…. I keep a spray bottle of Cleaning Vinegar vs white
vinegar, mixed with water. I use it around all my faucets to keep calcium build u at bay.. I use it and scrub my daughter’s open faucet when I am staying with grandkids. It looks great after. It just depends on whether you want to go to the trouble..

Another negative for free standing tubs is that it's very difficult to clean the floor behind them. Plus, they all show side tables or a cross piece of drop in holder to put your soap on. I'd rather have a drop in tub with surrounding "deck" where you can put soap on.

I can remember in the 1970s, most public spaces that I went to had terrazzo flooring.. in linoleum, or maybe vinyl..in squares. The scale of the colour splatter though, was much, much smaller than what I see today. When I see terrazzo, I think of my childhood. Puke/dark baby poop green is just disgusting, and some designers keep pushing it. My inlaws bathroom in a house they rented had1970s avocado in it, similar to what was on that tile. Our bathroom is white, light grey with black accents. NO NATURAL LIGHT in that room, so we kept it pretty light. The light grey is because our shower curtain has a slate grey image on it... it's almost black, but not quite. trying to save enough money to take out the built in tub, and replace it with the same size as the tub shower stall. None of us in the family can/like to tub soak, so NOT having to climb over the tub would be nice :)

I find free standing luxury tubs more of a sign of luxury, than an actual functional luxury item. Reality check, I haven't used a bath tub in decades why? because i'm 6'1 not 5'1 and if I can't get comfortable in the tub, what's the point? not to mention the taller the sides there ridiculously hard to get out of. On the other hand, large jetted tub's were a thing in the 90's but largely went unused after the novelty wore off while taking up a lot of space that could've been better used with a larger luxury shower that would actually get used. Personally, i've had homes with very large master bathrooms and homes small master bathrooms, and i'll take a large walk-in shower with temperature pre-sets with a water closet for the toilet any day over a large appliance that's not used in the space just to broadcast luxury.
