5 things I hate about my NSX 1. I dont have an NSX 2. I dont have an NSX 3. I dont have an NSX 4. I dont have an NSX 5. I dont have an NSX man, theyre are great lookin cars. they will never go out of style
Many people have posted the same thing . . . [Serious question] Does that mean you don't like the quality of the audio, or does that mean you hate listening to the guy talk? OP looks like Michael Scott in his avatar and exhibits every trait of boring suburban life . . . I could see how some people would think he's a massive douche . . .
sprawl nod It just has a really bad echo and the his voice stings the ears when he emphasises things. It's also quite grainy. The problem s the mic and not the guy's voice so I'm not leaving hate
Hahaha, I thought I was the only one that sold my NSX and missed it so much that I bought another one. Looks like you did too. That is funny. Both of mine were 2000 NSX-Ts. #0009 and #0014. I loved both of them and I wish I had never sold my last one in 2004 after a 3 county police pursuit with myself and 3 other NSXs that resulted in 2 police road blocks (the first one they setup behind us)... that only pissed them off. Anyway, in excess of 120 mph in a 65 is never good. We had to pay for the cost of the pursuit, pay huge fines and we were all banned from NY for 1 year. I loved the cars. Yours looks great!
so.... basically there are NO issues. (as a mechanic of race, supercar machines)As an owner, you complain of things that are totally small.... the seal with your Targa, buy an new door seal, problem solved. Cup holder, driver your Mazda if you want to drive and drink. NSX just drive, drink outside your car. Please no drinking in your car. Just stop, refresh and continue.
As an S2000 owner I literally felt like I was watching a video about 5 things i hate about my Honda S2000. Lol. Great video, nsx will forever be one of my dream cars (02-05 though ;)).
Great video, good insight. I love the 1st Gen NSXs and plan on owning one. 2000 is the year Im looking for too! TH-cam needs more NSX vids! I think Ive watched them all atleast twice!
Glad you enjoyed it. They are worth every penny and are addicting. I want a second in Grad Prix white myself. Wife doesn't seem keen on selling the house though...
NSX Guy A good modern electret condenser lavalier microphone from a good company like a Sony only costs about $15. Go on Amazon and order one. It will be on your doorstep in two days.
it's real funny the so many people thumb this video down. I can bet that most of those people don't own or never even been next to a nsx. this guy is expressing his personal thoughts on something he actually owns. if anyone is planning on buying one this information is very helpful on what you need to look out for. I know people like that are going to get upset that I made this comment but I don't care. I plan on buying a nsx and all you see out there is a bunch of flashy videos that don't help with squat. there cool don't get me wrong but to me the is the best NSX video for people like me out there who really have a passion for the NSX.
Enjoy the video!!! Not looking at getting an NSX, but I do respect the garage and the info. It was sorta a sleeper when I first saw it in highschool- but it's a very nice car. I drive an M6 competition now. Good job sir!!!!
Good honest review but not sure about the sound comments though; Jeremy Clarkeson said;"... the sound it makes is so exciting you dont ever want to shift up". No doubt it doesn't sound as good as a Italia; but then what does? Also didnt' they shorten the 2nd gear in 95 to fix those issues and early models RPMs dropping out of VTEC range during shifts?
Few things sounds better than a 458 although there are a lot of awesome sounding cars (newly notable the Jaguar F-Type...). I'm not sure about 2nd gear being changed prior to the 6 speed. I would need to research that.
I'm gauging interest in the possibility of importing a Honda NSX from Japan. Would that be a vehicle you would be willing to pay more or less than other typical NSX? The upsides are its a real right hand drive as JDM as you can get NSX and would be very unique with low mileage. Downside is unable to have a car fax available and most likely little documentation as well. I'd appreciate any feedback you could give. Thanks btw very nice and clean NSX you have there.
+Drjve Imports IMO, you really need to ask that question on NSXPrime.com. That's were the real experts are. I'm not an NSX expert despite being on my second NSX. My opinion (for what little that's worth on this topic), the value of transporting a car from Japan and all the costs when other NSX's are already in the US, feels low. There will always be that niche market of people that want RHD but I suspect that is a very small target audience (personally I would NOT want that). I suspect the CarFax issue is limited assuming some type of alternate system exists in Japan. Again, NSXPrime is free and that question I'm sure some people would love to discuss (and frankly there is probably history on that already if you search). Good luck.
It's pretty great that the only things wrong with the NSX are these minor annoyances... Not disintegrating gearbox bearings, failing timing tensioners, or cracking subframes or anything like that. Go Honda, great video Sir! :)
Great video...i agree with you on all points... i own a 1998 Red NSX (and a 1992 White NSX prior to that).... what's the name / brand of that cupholder? i need one =)
Yes the whole time i hoped you would start the NSX, next time a little just a teasing rev. maybe. Overal i like to hear the experience even if it's the stuff that could be better. I think every car has it that gives them a caracter i think. Idea for a next video do it from the riders seat while transporting thru a landscape no racing just a sunday drive. Now i dont have the butged to own one so i have to enjoy them thru people like you!:) Thank you for that
You sir, need to make more videos about your NSX. There are not enough videos from NSX owners and their experience owning one. Great video by the way !
+kingJim4 I actually messed up my TH-cam accounts with this positing because it went on a different email. Historically this one would never work. But now I have two accounts... (Kind of a pain). I'm working to transfer the good stuff over. I'l have to get on that. Thanks!
I am the original owner of a ’94 NSX NA1. My only problem with the car is the front lip on the front spoiler. It would scrape on a lot of driveways. I have to plan my route to avoid cross roads with deep rain runoffs. My window has the same sealing issue at high speed but it only starts to whistle over a hundred plus. I do not cruise at a hundred plus. A short blast to over a hundred would not be an issue for me. The Cup holder on my ’94 is useless. It is so far back that one could not reach it easily but I do not drink in my NSX anyway.
+NSX Guy I live in SoCal. The driveways on some business are step. I finally attach that lip with double face tape and just stick that back in place if it got displaced. It has less than 60,000 miles and still fells tight. Other than doing a top end (including water pump and all the rubber hoses in the engine bay) at about 45,000 miles, the car has be trouble free. Always put a smile on my face when I drive it. Quite a lot of Honda/Acura drivers would wave and thumbs up on my drives. It gets quite a lot of friendly attention.
+NSX Guy Oops! I meant 60,000 miles :) I've made the correction. This is a weekend car not my daily drive since I used to work less than 3 miles away. I am retired now,
Nice job!I totally agree with 1 - 4.I hate when the windows leak air at higher speeds!as for 5;I really enjoy the sound with an aftermarket exhaust, but with the stock exhaust it is pretty tame.
Agreed! Yep the windows regulators are the worst thing about the first gen NSX. I just never roll down my windows. I understand that the window regulators fail pretty regularly because (in keeping to a light weight design of the car) Acura/Honda used very light weight components for the regulator which are too weak for the weight of the glass and the wind at high speeds.
You hate the cupholders? I hate the District Attorney for filing charges against me for bludgeoning and dismembering the idiot who thought he could get within 10 feet of the interior of my NSX with a drink! You wanna DRINK while driving? Buy a Honda Pilot!
Uh... That flimsy cupholder DOES come out, y'know. In fact it comes out very easily (because it's so flimsy)! But maybe you could try thinking of it like this; It's a storage bin that just so happens to be the perfect place to store that flimsy cupholder. You're not gonna throw it away, right? So you can further clutter up your garage with it, or you can put it in some drawer inside your home... Or you can store it in that neat little area in your NSX's center console! Perfect!
It was '97 that Acura started using a 3.2-litre engine/revised ABS along with a 6-spd over 5-spd transmission. They also dropped the hardtop and all subsequent NSXs were targa roof. And modern ABS systems have been around since the '70s, not sure why you'd think ABS didn't exist before 1990.
+tigerbiterhater Short story: Some transmissions in 1991-1992 had what is known as the 'snap ring' problem. The issue was the snap ring within the transmission breaking causing transmission failure. It was actually the groove for the snap ring that was the issue causing stress on the snap ring which, in some cases, caused failure. I believe it was due to tool wear when manufacturing the case (which means not all in the range are in issue). Case in point, my 1992 was in the range and has never had an issue (that owner is still running like a champ with over 130k miles). You should know if you are getting a car in snap ring range but it's not a total show stopper. For the full story, see this link: www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/transmission.htm
+Anthony Misakian Derby Ct? I talked to a guy with a red one in derby last year, he was probably 65+. There is a couple other NSX's though in the area if you are talking about CT.
I literally bought the house for the garage... There is actually an area beneath it also I use as a work shop. The guy who owned it before me apparently had a lot of cars.
Hello fellow Primate. Here's few comments on what you "hate" about the NSX: 1. Hugabuga kit is great. SOS sells retainers for few bucks. Also T top vehicles always prone to have more fitment issues around that area. All in all this is minor thing that can be easily fixed and improved. 2. ABS units are easily rebuildable. The reason it would loose pressure is contaminants and tired seals. Make sure to often bleed it. It's separate system from actual brake sys. Worse case and worthy upgrade though is NA2 unit. Unless you're Mario Andretti or even if you are never kill ABS. On the street especially. On the track as well unless you're willing to throw away bunch of flat spotted tires. ABS is not intrusive at all. Also for the street there may be legal issues if you happen to get into accident. 3. Pointless implementation in NSX indeed. Your solution is solid except maybe move to towards the rear where it will slide more under the central console and wont wobble like yours. 4. 2nd gear in USDM cars are indeed way too long. Nothing but NSX-R gears swap or 6spd upgrade can fix. It's absolutely needed mod for NA car. Boosted it may be beneficial to keep long 2nd due to more TQ. Also 5spd is stronger than 6spd. But 6spd is smoother mostly due to dual syncros. But more fragile and more expensive to rebuild. 5. Comparing C30A to V8 flat plane crankshaft in 458 is how to say it.. weird. Apples to oranges really. 6000 rpm is when lobes for high profile cam profile engage. Exhaust is personal preference really. It is quite though. Also 1997 is the switchover year. Not 98. Cool T shirt btw ;)
+Roman Pyasetskyy 1. I was tempted to do the HugaBuga kit. Maybe I will. 2. I had never tried to rebuild my 92, I simply disabled. Good to know it can be rebuilt, I don't recall coming across that when I owned the 92. 3. Yup. 4. Yup. 5. Couldn't agree more. I stated that to simply explain my definition of perfection. Although I agree exhaust notes are preference, I feel a sport car should at least be heard. Stock is incredibly docile. I was super pleased to see the shirt on Amazon... Thanks.
Often called frameless doors/windows.. Over time the rubber can dry out a little and they no long press against the glass firmly enough.. It can help to spray a silicone spray on them which rehydrates the rubber a bit.. However, this being said, sometimes it has gotten so degraded that this will not help and you will then need to replace them with new rubber window seals..
dude I wish I had an NSX but they really hold there value! I'll be getting a 1997 eclipse GSX tho! I love that car so I'm going crazy with excitement (:
Great video, but have to correct you on one thing: NA1 generation had 3.0 L engine with 5 speed manual - these were made from 1991-1996. 1995-1996 models had option for targa but still had the smaller engine. NA2 generation (with 3.2L engine and 6 speed manual) started in 1997, not 1998, and ran through 2005. 2002-2005 models had the frog eye headlights in place of the pop up headlights. BTW love your car!
I've got a '96 NSX-T. The only major issue I had was with the air-conditioner. It was something with the batteries leaking, I think, it's been a while. .Anyway, I found a guy in Winter Park, FL that fixed it for about a 1/3 the cost at a dealers. As for the "cup holders." Perhaps they were designed for smaller cups, like tea or coffee, not the large megacups used by Americans. And also, the Japanese do not feel it is cultured to eat or drink in a car. Yeah, nothing screams like a Ferrari. I have a Comptech supercharger with a upgraded air flow and exhaust. That gives you almost 100 more HP and the design adds very little wear on the engine, I think. You can just get the exhaust and that will deepen the sound for you. I read a driving evaluation of several very good cars by Mario Andretti. He had the Porsche and the NSX tied for the best drivers car.
I picked up a 2018 Mustang Shelby GT350 since (yes, the NSX is still in the garage and actually has gone through an overhaul which I'm just about done with. Vides will come if work ever dies down). Anyway, the GT350 has a sounds like no other. I don't like it as much as a 458 Ferrari but it's not far off. As far as my cup holder issue - First World Problems, Someone has to tackle them...
And I have an ARK DTS V3 on my NSX. It helped a lot. The best sound is the ARC Titanium which I had but it was bent and I could not find someone to fix it so I sold it to a happy owner.
great video! I agree wity you, the new nsx doesn't have the timeless look at all, its contemporary not timeless. Youre a ferrari man too thats great, the f430 spyder with the manual transmission was the car that started my love for cars so thats my dream but God the 458 is perfect haha
Great review on your NSX experience! Fellow Primer here, I own a 97 red/ black targa and a 94 black/tan coupe. Addicted to these mid-engine classics. Totally agree with you about the stock exhaust, plus its heavy (> 40lbs!). Hoping to change out my stock 94 exhaust and manifold for aftermarket titanium exhaust and headers (science of speed or comptech). If you want to sell your ARC ti exhaust hit me up on prime (metsn13) or through my youtube. I've been searching for this exhaust for over a year now!
My ARC is bent. I have been looking for years to have it repaired (and altered since I distain the large angle tips, I like more conservative look. I don't think I can part with it. It the best sounding exhaust for the NSX.
Would love too (although I don't completely love the look yet) but it's not in my budget. A buddy of mine is, I'm interested to see it. I did just see the Tesla Model 3 release, that I may need...
Don't feel bad about the cup holders my 91 integra does not have any well there's a spot when u flip the glove box door down and there's 2 7mm deep holes lol
Thanks for the video. I always want to drive a Ferrari (yes, after watching magnum pi). I was considering buying a Ferrari 308 or 348. Considering I don't have money to throw around in maintenance, I have think more about buying a NSX.
Things I hate about my '02 NSX.... 1. Wind noise from windows. 2. Squeaks and rattles inherent to the Targa model. 3. Very limited tire selection for the stock 17" wheels. That said it is my dream car and I'll never sell it :)
What do you think happens when you go from 1st to 2nd when you shift it three grand not under power then unless you're doing like5 to 10 miles an hour and your turn your talking about then yeah I could be under power then and it probably should win the first but most likely know you never go in the first and far as I know they know sex has a lockout so you can't go in the first when you're doing like over 10 miles an hour or five miles an hour something like that
Yo NSX Guy from another NSX guy Enjoyed your video and add that we have a lot in common. I too had an early NSX (1991) which had many of the same issues you mention (ABS issue etc.), but I loved it and, alas, sold it after owning it for 7 years. But I could not get it out of my head, so I have acquired a 2000 like yours (red + tan) and a=have owned it for about 6 years. 19k miles-indicates how much I drive it. Not because I do not love to, but only because I treasure it and baby it. As for your likes and dislikes, I guess I echo your sentiment-all except one.... I LOVE the sound it makes! For a review of mine, search "Nick Murray NSX". Nick reviewed my car about a year ago. Where in Connecticut are you? I am also in Connecticut. Be great to get together.
Meaning would I like to change to the Viper or drive it? I would love to have an American brand raw power car. I'm pretty patriotic aside from my foreign brand cars (without getting into actual USA content discussion). I love the look and sound of Vipers. I would like to drive one. I like a wide range of cars though. I truly dislike very few. My most notable have been: 94 Mustang GT Conv, 90 300ZX (NA), 02 Yamaha R1, 92 NSX, 02 Boxster S and now the 00 NSX.
+NSX Guy I've owned 3 300zx cars(87 ,90 ,93) & I've owned a couple of Honda preludes(3rd & 4th gen) amongst other vehicles. TheNSX has been in my bucket list for a long time, and I appreciate your review on it! I personally like the type you have, and this info will help me when I finally purchase one :)! I gotta ask though... Did you like the 300zx twin turbo or just the normal one?
+1blisslife I had a 1990 non-turbo. It felt similar to the NSX in the cockpit. It was even slower though (I was Charcoal color which I really liked). I have been searching for a Charcoal TT for a long time. There were very few. I would prefer a 'slick top' also which may not even exist in that color. My buddy has a 91 with Stage 3 Stillen package. That is a scary vehicle as it does not have traction control. I love the 4WS though. I still may get one in the future. I want Turbo for sure though.
+NSX Guy Slick top one's are nice & indeed rare! I've only come across one out in California once, but not charcoal though. The T-tops are awesome & all of mine were like that. My 87 was a hot red, the 90 was a Dark red(Maroon), and the 93 was a custom metallic blue paint job I fell in love with the 95/96 model because it was released in a cobalt green. The charcoal one's are nice indeed & the 90 has the best steering wheel out of all of them(despite not having air bags too) I think. I agree with you as far as traction control! I remembered very vividly when I read your comment about that. I remembered once when the back end of my blue one lost traction going on an incline & jerked me around a bit on a Texas rainy day! Having a Fairlady with HICAS(4WS) would be nice though. I've looked into a 4WS Honda Prelude 4th gen recently & wouldn't mind that feature myself too! I saw a video of someone here on TH-cam that has a black 96 NSX with 4WS.
I got my NSX in an odd situation. A guy I knew with and NSX inherited it (bit of a sad story). For that reason, I paid less than you might think (rather not publish the number). It had 43k miles on it. I sold my 92 with 120k miles so miles don't bother me. I just flipped past 60 a week or so ago. Weather has been terrible in New England the past month so I haven't driven much lately.
+padistedor Prices are a bit ridiculous currently. It happens as they get tougher to find. There are a million Bette out there. I think vetted are great cars but prefer the rarity of exotics. Performance is another story. Vettes are incredible.
it is an automatic not a manual right? cause when you got in the ebrake wasn't up which if it is an automatic that's no issue but in a manual you need the ebrake up...
most MANUALS wont allow you to turn the car off without the ebrake up. what he is suggesting is that he keeps it in first gear rather than neutral and turns the car off. if it is in gear it does have power unless the car is off to keep going forward.
+Jordan Collins - I agree that the manufacture would likely state that the e-brake should be up. I think it's very common practice to simply leave it in gear (except when on an incline). I'm interested in your comment about most manuals not shutting off while in gear. I have never heard of that or seen it. Have an example vehicle? Just interested in what cars do that.
Jason .C I spent quite a bit of time in Japan for work. Only saw one the whole time. I suppose it's no less rare in Japan as in the states. It not the fastest car but it's one of the most fun to drive. I have a GT350 now and I've concluded I will never need more that 400 HP again unless I plan to track. You just can't push the car, it's too fast...
My 93 Civic EX has anti-lock brakes what do you mean by nsx's the first car to have anti-lock and that's falseso if you could tell me what you mean I don't are you talking about like it's the first supercar to have anti-lock brakes
City of roses 503: I believe that was incorrect. There was something about the ABS system that I thought was first of its kind but I’m probably mistaken.
I have definitely taken my beating for that... This said, the sound of the original was really not that bad. I watched over AppleTV the other day and it was very poor. Something didn't process well although it wasn't perfect from the start.
I agree with 2 of the "hate" items. Hate is a powerful word so I will go with Just don't dig the option. ABS problems yes. Change out or disconnect. Cup holder. Just have a hot bitch hold your drink. Everything else is great. Yes I have one. 1991 car 2845. Cheap to keep brother.
As a Bears fan I am offended by your screen name... And yet there is a Bears C on your pic. Odd... That said, I am mentally preparing for a horrible season .
Does anyone have any cheese to go with his whine. LMAO, he's comparing Hondas V6 to Ferraris V8 in the 458. There isn't a V6 on the planet that will sound like a Ferrari V8. Hell American V8s don't sound better. The NSX made Ferrari and every other exotic car manufacturer go back and make reliable exotics. Cup holders, LMAO, cupers shouldn't be in cars like that. If you need to drink coffee, get a Prius. The sound you hear is the ABS system charging up. My 2005 Infiniti does the same thing. Doesn't bother me one bit. Stop complaining and enjoy your car.
I love the new 2016 NSX for its 9 gears that rev up to 7500 RPM, 500hp turbo charge mid engine and its 73hp electric engines mounted in the front center, totaling out to 573hp. Three of them exact and boy do they help the crankshaft spin by telling the turbos its at full boost all the time in race mode. Speaking of modes. It has 4 modes starting with quiet mode to sneak around your friends wife undetected, just kidding but you got sport, sport plus and race mode for whatever mood you in. The car hit 60 under 3 seconds putting it in the 2 second club. All wheel drive and active aero dynamics pushing the air flow through the entire car, and the last thing I like is the fact that it's American made.
The NSX is an ok car. I say ok because if you look at Honda's Civic Type R EP3 (only sold in the European and Japanese markets), this car blew everything away, and today is being called a modern classic. I am lucky enough to have owned 2 EP3, both from new, a 2005 and my 2006 limited edition "fare well" car i own to this day! It is a 200BHP 2.0 litre car employing Honda's i-vtec (for smoother DOHC engagement) and can sprint from 0 to 100KMH (62 MPH) in 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 243 KMH (150MPH). Where as the same era NSX did that sprint in 5.7 seconds... Very strange what Honda did there! Why didnt they put the engineering effort in with the NSX that they clearly did withthe EP3? Also my Civic has a tripple plated clutch (fitted standard from Honda, not an extra) and a timing chain (rather than a belt). These two items alone save a fortune in maintenance, because (assuminig you take care of the car) they never need replacing! I have researched the NSX because naturally i would have liked a super car, and it would have been fitting to buy the NSX R. But as i say, my research has left me quite under whelmed. The only things that would tempt me are the fasct its steering is awesome... Still, what i will say is i do like the look of the NSX, and love the fact it is a mid engined rare wheel drive car. Just compared to the amazing piece of engineering that they achieved with my car, the NSX is a bit of a let down.
+Jay Kay I struggle to completely follow you on this. That said, I don't have much experience with the Civic R. The two cars couldn't be further apart from my understanding. Numbers wise, I can't disagree. That's what is odd about the NSX, it's simply not about the numbers, you need to drive it to understand. I'm have the insecurity of wanting my car to be 'special' or 'exotic'... Even though the numbers on the EP3 may be low, the body is just not in that category. Frankly neither is a new Vette due to the production numbers but few will argue it's a great car and with exotic performance. All that said, to each his own, I'm glad you enjoy the Civic R. I always wave to the Civic tuners because Honda is special to me.
Five things I hate about my NSX: 1) Headlight pattern (2002-2005) - They light the road with laser-white precision but ~under certain conditions~ it can be hard to see an upcoming hill. They illuminate everything down ahead, and almost nothing _up_ ahead. 2) Trunk - Nobody else will know how to close it, and you'll spend a lot of time explaining why _you_ have to close the trunk instead of them. 3) Wipers - They don't lift fully, making it harder to wash the car (or replace the blades). 4) Horn - Meep meep 5) Badge - The car is a Honda everywhere in the world, except the USA, Canada, and Hong Kong where it's car called an Acura. I think it should've been called Honda everywhere. Honda is an amazing company and shouldn't have needed to create cachet.
if your ever taking a ride on Long Island...drop me a line. i have a 94 rt/10 viper and a friend has a yellow nsx supercharged. always like taking cars with enthusiasts.
Fair Point... I don't love the standard Honda line (looks wise) and I'm not ready to spend the money on a TL or RL. I semi like looks of the Mazda 6. My dream would be to get a restored 1992 Nissan Maxima SE. Best commuter I ever had (minus those horrific window regulators...I guess I don't do well with Windows...)
if u still got the cash to spend. get an s2000 as well. while u still can. that thing is also a gem. not as high-profile as the nsx. but very commendable at the least.
+dantediss1 not $5K if you do it yourself. Clutch itself costs $1200 or so from exedy. Sick and tired of people who own awesome cars but don't know how to work on them and maintain them properly themselves.
+Davie Blaze really? Exedy makes clutches for manufacturers oem products...for example Subaru. The wrx and STi stock clutches are exedy, and both of them have similar torque output to the NSX, and they last constant abuse from an awd drivetrain. Explain your reasoning, but I have a feeling you or someone you know put an exedy clutch in wrong and it failed. As a matter of fact I do believe most Honda clutches are made by Exedy.
I mean the obsession with them. I have never seen a car review from any other country where cup-holders were mentioned. I have never had a conversation with anyone outside of the US where there has been any comment made on a cup-holder in a car, and I hardly ever see a cup-holder in a car in Europe holding a cup, unlike the US where not only you do see them, but paper cups at food outlets are shaped to fit cup-holders in cars. I'm sure someone does, but it's not as common. I wonder if the non-US versions of this car even have cupholders. Cupholders.
Out of curiosity I went to check the wikipedia article on "cup-holders", and not only was their development connected to American institutions such as the drive-through and drive-in, but it is actually mentioned: "Many people,[who?] particularly in the United States, consider the design, location and number of cup holders in a vehicle to be one of the most important attributes influencing their vehicle purchase.[citation needed] Others take a contrary view: that they are not only irrelevant but encourage a dangerous practice which distracts drivers from their primary task. Cars designed primarily for the North American market have tended to have larger cup holders, while those for which the primary market is outside of North America tend to have smaller ones."
What I hate about my NSX... The windshield wipers don't pull far away from the window.... The horn is anemic... It's called an Acura in North America (I'm happy to call it a Honda)... I don't need navigation, a stereo, or some damn cupholder...
obvi•US - I agree on the wipers and the horn (wipers bugs me a lot actually). The Acura doesn't bother me but I'm with you and have considered rebadging. On the horn I changed out my former 1992's horns (there are 3 by my recollection) with Hella horns. It was far superior. On my 2000 I resigned to the fact that I don't use it enough to go through the trouble to re-install. I have them in a box somewhere still...
Agreed... Hellas would be the ticket but, as you say, I probably have less than 1 _minute_ cumulative horn use in 11 years. I'm about to buy a 2nd NSX. I may rebadge it; my original will remain an Acura. And the most serious 'hate' I haven't yet mentioned; the headlight pattern on my '03. I _love_ the laser-like focus of the beams, but there's a road between Vegas and Palm Springs with a lot of small hills in rapid succession. If I drive it at night I see beautifully going uphill but, when the car faces down I can't see the hill ahead. It's in relative darkness until my car starts to point up again. But... That's the only place where that happens so... I lump it in with the seldom-used horns. 😎
obvi•US I never heard of the headlight issue on 02+ but don’t think I ever drove one in the dark. My buddy never mentioned although he’s been spending a lot of time in his 2017... Good luck on second NSX. They are very pricey these days...
must be nice to fit 6+ cars in a garage. Seems like the designers of some of these houses make two car garages small enough not to be be able to fit anything longer than a small hatch a 6 speed nsx like the 2000 nsx>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>all the 5 speed's...that is reason enough to pay the difference
It's not quite that big. Maybe I will post a video of it. It 2 plus 2 tandem. The width is quite good (very comfortable between cars). The length is a bit tight. 2 Mazda sixes would only have a few feet of space to share. The NSX is short and so is the wife's Mazda 3 so it looks roomier like that. All that said...I love it...
5 things I hate about my NSX
1. I dont have an NSX
2. I dont have an NSX
3. I dont have an NSX
4. I dont have an NSX
5. I dont have an NSX
man, theyre are great lookin cars. they will never go out of style
+Samwise Drogod I really hope that changes for you...
+NSX Guy Its a second engine with a VTEC. First 1989 Honda Integra XSi (Japan 1.6 engine) and 1989 Honda CRX 1.6 iV-T (Europe). But first in USA.
Same! I don't have one. Some day I might. But I agree about the looks. The NSX(pre-2017) is by far my favorite design. Damn they look so good.
Did you get this from the Supra video
Samuel Dobrow
th-cam.com/video/-Y9U8nISphI/w-d-xo.html
Such a timeless look.
Something I hate about this video: THE FUCKING AUDIO!
+sprawl nod I diss like the audio quality
jfc you two... do you throw a hissy fit when the waitress brings you flat water, too?
Paul Pavich Hahahaha no! Only when I get brought strawberry Fanta instead of orange!
Gordon Miller Sounds like you poked the bear in that chase. Glad you still have a license...
Gordon Miller Oh look it's the Quora guy!
Who sells an NSX?
Excellent review. Detailed, well explained and definitely one of the better reviews I have seen. Thank you.
so.... basically there are NO issues. Just stop, refresh and continue.
you know what else i hate about my nsx...its the fact that I dont' have one. :(
As an S2000 owner I literally felt like I was watching a video about 5 things i hate about my Honda S2000. Lol.
Great video, nsx will forever be one of my dream cars (02-05 though ;)).
love your nsx. way better than the new one👍
Don't talk in your garage, especially without a dedicated microphone! The sound is horrible
Obviously I'm not a professional... If I do more maybe I will get a mic. I have some orders ones I'm looking to load up also.
+Spike Club Here, here.
+Patrick Boyle ....I ordered a mic. We'll see how that works...
+NSX Guy It's sounds fine except ur whining like a baby...lol
NSX Guy A good modern electret condenser lavalier microphone from a good company like a Sony only costs about $15. Go on Amazon and order one. It will be on your doorstep in two days.
You have a mazda 3, i have a mazda 3, you have an NSX. i have shit
My daily is a Mazda 6 (2008 4cyl). Wife /Permanent Girlfriend has the Mazda 3 (2012 SkyActive). I hope there is an NSX in your future... Best of luck.
+NSX Guy Just bought a mazda 6, love it!!! Nice nsx by the way, rims and lowering it make it look perfect :)
+Jeff Tews I would love a newer 6. I am a bit disappointed I only get like 25 MPH on my 08. New ones are in the 30's. Wife's 3 gets about 35-7.
it's real funny the so many people thumb this video down. I can bet that most of those people don't own or never even been next to a nsx. this guy is expressing his personal thoughts on something he actually owns. if anyone is planning on buying one this information is very helpful on what you need to look out for. I know people like that are going to get upset that I made this comment but I don't care. I plan on buying a nsx and all you see out there is a bunch of flashy videos that don't help with squat. there cool don't get me wrong but to me the is the best NSX video for people like me out there who really have a passion for the NSX.
mrjace3 I will take those nice comments for a first video...
Enjoy the video!!! Not looking at getting an NSX, but I do respect the garage and the info. It was sorta a sleeper when I first saw it in highschool- but it's a very nice car. I drive an M6 competition now. Good job sir!!!!
Awesome video, you hit all the issues right on the nose but the pros outweigh the cons hence why we love these cars. I'll never sell mine.
+Michael Magloire
Thanks. Yeah, if you haven't sold one before, I can confirm it's a poor idea...
nsx the first Honda with ABS? Whats with the prelude?
Is this sarcasm?
Alex Tran No. Just comparing to BMWs, Opels (Buicks) etc.
+TassieLorenzo alright lol was making sure
Great video...i agree with you on all points... i own a 1998 Red NSX (and a 1992 White NSX prior to that)....
what's the name / brand of that cupholder? i need one =)
I can't for the life of me remember what the cup holders are. Search prime, they should come up quick.
found it!! www.motoringabout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/shoe-cup-holder.jpg
Just kidding...here it is! www.ultimatecupholders.com/index.html
Thank you for your detail video. This is actually a video about 5 things you hate about your nsx.
Hey mate! Great and honest review, I loved it. Car looks very tasteful as well.
Now i dont have the butged to own one so i have to enjoy them thru people like you!:)
Thank you for that
Note: dont get me wrong, do not let him com off your site as long as it remains below 0 with snow on the roads!
This request I can promise... It's getting warmer in CT and there are a lot of nice roads near me. Close of May it will be up.
You sir, need to make more videos about your NSX. There are not enough videos from NSX owners and their experience owning one. Great video by the way !
+kingJim4
I actually messed up my TH-cam accounts with this positing because it went on a different email. Historically this one would never work. But now I have two accounts... (Kind of a pain). I'm working to transfer the good stuff over. I'l have to get on that. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your NSX!
I'm surprised you hit so much. I generally do not an mine is lowered 1.25 front and 1.5 rear. At least it's replaceable....
Super impressed your an original owner btw...
+EDWARD YEE. - it better feel tight with less than 6k miles... I drive as much as possible myself but to each his own.
+NSX Guy Oops! I meant 60,000 miles :) I've made the correction. This is a weekend car not my daily drive since I used to work less than 3 miles away. I am retired now,
Thanks for the video! and for that last bit :)
Nice job!I totally agree with 1 - 4.I hate when the windows leak air at higher speeds!as for 5;I really enjoy the sound with an aftermarket exhaust, but with the stock exhaust it is pretty tame.
+rjd1022
Meant to tell you I posted this... How is the 92 doing...
Had them relubricated last year. Confidence unchanged…. Good luck.
You hate the cupholders? I hate the District Attorney for filing charges against me for bludgeoning and dismembering the idiot who thought he could get within 10 feet of the interior of my NSX with a drink! You wanna DRINK while driving? Buy a Honda Pilot!
How do you really feel about it?...
Perfect!
Great vid. I've always wanted a NSX. I own a BMW 8 Series and to me those two cars are THE cars of the 90's.
So you didn't put hotter cams in the engine?
Very nice review. I hope to own one of these days. Enjoy driving this beauty
+Omar Q Which day do you want to own?
+Connor Payne Tuesday night's
+0192837465934 haha, soon..but I'm not financially ready. I will get this one day.
+Omar Q Don't give up man, you can do it.
+0192837465934 thank you for your encouragement :)
such a cool man...u are so kind to explain all that thingsfor us that we dream to have that car.
now that we got the introduction out of the way, more video of that beautiful car please. :)
Will do.
+NSX Guy move the ladder!!
It was '97 that Acura started using a 3.2-litre engine/revised ABS along with a 6-spd over 5-spd transmission. They also dropped the hardtop and all subsequent NSXs were targa roof. And modern ABS systems have been around since the '70s, not sure why you'd think ABS didn't exist before 1990.
visually I think it's a design master piece jus my opinion
Also want too add. Been looking at NSX. A lot of sellers keeps stating not in snap ring range. Can you shed a little light on this?
Thanks for clarification.
A fellow CT person! Great info. Ive always loved the NSX. Keep her clean.
I saw this NSX at a gas station in Derby once! Beautiful car
+Anthony Misakian Derby Ct? I talked to a guy with a red one in derby last year, he was probably 65+. There is a couple other NSX's though in the area if you are talking about CT.
Great vid, That garage is huge, i want it!
I literally bought the house for the garage... There is actually an area beneath it also I use as a work shop. The guy who owned it before me apparently had a lot of cars.
Nailed it!! From fellow nsx owner MexiRicer :)
Hello fellow Primate. Here's few comments on what you "hate" about the NSX:
+Roman Pyasetskyy
Thanks.
Thanks for the video ! The sound like a civic was funny
I always liked the 1997 era ones.
+NSX Guy there no NSX but AWD turbo on a 2800 pound car should be pretty fun!
Nothing sound better than an 454 bbc with a big solid cam
What are those wheels? They fit this car so well!
TSW Nurburgrings, 18/19, Refinished in High Gloss (Mainly for cleaning but the high gloss has grown on me).
Nice nsx. Have you ever thought about a turbo kit?
Thought about it, yes, but I probably won't on this car. (Those are not cheap). I would really like to get a second one to modify more significantly.
Planning on getting the new nsx?
Would love too (although I don't completely love the look yet) but it's not in my budget. A buddy of mine is, I'm interested to see it. I did just see the Tesla Model 3 release, that I may need...
Love your NSX, its awesome man!
Nice car! The NSX was the first car in the US to feature vtec but vtec was first introduced in 1989 in an integra
+2strokeFORever in a car yes. first Honda implication of it came in 1983 in the cbr400f bike.
Yes but we're talking about cars here :)
The NSX is my absolute dream car. I own and daily a Turbo MR2
Things I hate about my '02 NSX....
1. Wind noise from windows.
2. Squeaks and rattles inherent to the Targa model.
3. Very limited tire selection for the stock 17" wheels.
That said it is my dream car and I'll never sell it :)
Great video, looking for of overview and will keep a close eye on this channel.
Awesome Video, Thanks!!! 😊😊😀
God... that car is so gorgeous.
Interesting... Very similar story. Assuming your are a Member of NSXPrime PM me (N-Wing). I'm in Central CT.
Would you ever drive a dodge viper vs this NSX? Like 2008 srt10
+1blisslife I personally want to get a RHD NSX(Japanese/JDM) one btw...
There's one aftermarket exhaust that makes this sounds like the best car ever.
Are you planning to tell us what that is...?
AP-X
How much did you pay for your 2000 nsx and how many miles were on it?
I got my NSX in an odd situation. A guy I knew with and NSX inherited it (bit of a sad story). For that reason, I paid less than you might think (rather not publish the number). It had 43k miles on it. I sold my 92 with 120k miles so miles don't bother me. I just flipped past 60 a week or so ago. Weather has been terrible in New England the past month so I haven't driven much lately.
+NSX Guy I think it's crazy that people want as much as a new corvette for a 20yr old NSX. They aren't all that.
It's manual. I rarely use the e-brake in the garage. I just leave it in gear.
+Jordan Collins you dont need ebrake up in a manual
only in neutral
most MANUALS wont allow you to turn the car off without the ebrake up. what he is suggesting is that he keeps it in first gear rather than neutral and turns the car off. if it is in gear it does have power unless the car is off to keep going forward.
+NSX Guy my brother's 2012 lancer is that way and my friend's 2012 diesel jetta is that way. might only be on newer cars.
the NSX is a great car in some ways, and wish if i went to japan, i'd drive one of these
Jason .C I spent quite a bit of time in Japan for work.
The reason you think that car feels better than the others to drive is because you've never driven a 93-95 Rx-7.
I happen to love those... feel free to bring yours by so I can.
What i hate most about the NSX.. Is that it's a very nice car.. And extremely expensive in australia. As in $100,000 expensive.
please never record in your echo chamber ever again.
I have definitely taken my beating for that... This said, the sound of the original was really not that bad. I watched over AppleTV the other day and it was very poor. Something didn't process well although it wasn't perfect from the start.
+NSX Guy TH-cam processing doesn't help
Open Garage door problem solved for echo!!!
Does the video really need to be 18mins??
I will be very interested to drive the new one...
+Jay Kay
I struggle to completely follow you on this. I always wave to the Civic tuners because Honda is special to me.
next time make a video inside the car and out side garage and give us a demo something like that it would be great
I plan to do some more driving. The talking piece is a bit more difficult, I will have to check on what mic options are available.
Anyone else kinda have anxiety of how freaking close he parked to that wall
There is a tennis ball... I approach very slowly...
I don't know you , but I already helped you loved your NSX.
Five things I hate about my NSX:
1) Headlight pattern (2002-2005) - They light the road with laser-white precision but ~under certain conditions~ it can be hard to see an upcoming hill.
4) Horn - Meep meep
5) Badge - The car is a Honda everywhere in the world, except the USA, Canada, and Hong Kong where it's car called an Acura. I think it should've been called Honda everywhere. Honda is an amazing company and shouldn't have needed to create cachet.
obvi•US : I love the truck! I agree with the wipers.
if your ever taking a ride on Long Island...drop me a line. i have a 94 rt/10 viper and a friend has a yellow nsx supercharged. always like taking cars with enthusiasts.
1 thing i only have about nsx : by staring at one at the dealerahip and cant afford it :(
DeadCosplay001: I do the same looking at the 2017.
Integra was the first car to get a VTEC engine. CRX got it next. NSX, was however, the first car with a VTEC engine to come to the United States.
i seen a Red just like this that sold for 40 Grand at Barrett jackson auction palm beach florida
interesting to see a die hard NSX guy that dailys Mazda's lol. I would have thought more Hondas.
Fair Point... I don't love the standard Honda line (looks wise) and I'm not ready to spend the money on a TL or RL. I semi like looks of the Mazda 6. My dream would be to get a restored 1992 Nissan Maxima SE. Best commuter I ever had (minus those horrific window regulators...I guess I don't do well with Windows...)
get some silicone lube spray from WD40 for the window seals.
That does help some but it's more of an alignment problem.
if u still got the cash to spend. get an s2000 as well. while u still can. that thing is also a gem. not as high-profile as the nsx. but very commendable at the least.
Had a deposit on one once. Great car.
great review. thanks (might not want to stand in front of the car the entire time).
Yes. Lots of lessons learned on the first video... Round 2 should be more legit.
that $5k plus clutch change though ughhhj
+dantediss1 not $5K if you do it yourself. Clutch itself costs $1200 or so from exedy. Sick and tired of people who own awesome cars but don't know how to work on them and maintain them properly themselves.
+boarderboi7 i would NEVER go with exedy clutch, let alone in an nsx
+Davie Blaze really? Exedy makes clutches for manufacturers oem products...for example Subaru. The wrx and STi stock clutches are exedy, and both of them have similar torque output to the NSX, and they last constant abuse from an awd drivetrain. Explain your reasoning, but I have a feeling you or someone you know put an exedy clutch in wrong and it failed. As a matter of fact I do believe most Honda clutches are made by Exedy.
I don't care if you like it or don't like it if you buy an NSX deal with it I love every inch of my NSX
what's the wheels on the nsx
TSW Nurburgrings
Americans and cup-holders...
+interruptor
Well, considering this is a Japanese made car with input from an Italian race car driver, your comment makes no sense.
Cupholders.
Out of curiosity I went to check the wikipedia article on "cup-holders", and not only was their development connected to American institutions such as the drive-through and drive-in, but it is actually mentioned:
"Many people,[who?] particularly in the United States, consider the design, location and number of cup holders in a vehicle to be one of the most important attributes influencing their vehicle purchase.[citation needed] Others take a contrary view: that they are not only irrelevant but encourage a dangerous practice which distracts drivers from their primary task. Cars designed primarily for the North American market have tended to have larger cup holders, while those for which the primary market is outside of North America tend to have smaller ones."
interruptor Soccer moms lol
+Butch Tyrone (“Southerner”) Ayrton Senna ? Brazil not Italy...
Great detailed points, thanks for making this. I made a 4 month ownership video a few months ago, check it out if you haven't already.
must be nice to fit 6+ cars in a garage. Seems like the designers of some of these houses make two car garages small enough not to be be able to fit anything longer than a small hatch
a 6 speed nsx like the 2000 nsx>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>all the 5 speed's...that is reason enough to pay the difference
My favorite part is it's an automatic. I'd love an automatic NSX.
"Best feel while driving of any cars" ... I wonder if you'd change your mind driving an S2000 ^^
Driven many. Great cars (Hondas after all). I would trade my NSX for one though.
wouldn't* ?
