Guys, I enjoy watching your reactions to Madonna, but listen more carefully to the lyrics so you can understand the symbolism in the videos. Madonna puts a lot of symbolism in her music videos...there is always a story to tell. React to Cherish, Open your heart, Oh Father

Soilofk You´re 100% correct. Guys when you watch a video of Madonna, here´s an advice: there are many details to be seen. If you spend a lot of time, for example, talking about Gigi, it really becomes difficult to understand the content. Yes she finds out she is pregnant. The video deals with teenage pregnancy.

Another hugely controversial Madonna single. Religious groups were out in force protesting against Madonna and teenage pregnancies. @@nickydee719 Well her friends want her to either abort or more likely "give it up" for adoption. Her dad is just pissed she had sex, and since they're (implied) Catholic, I doubt he wants abortion. @Jungle Bunny Yeah she got more experimental and explored more underground stuff in the 90s. Just more my style. If she'd gone away after the 80s she'd still have a great legacy but what she did after that is why she's a legend and so beloved.

    • @FindingMadonna
      @FindingMadonna 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@Jungle Bunny Yes, most of her biggest pop hits were released in the 80s and, as I said, she would still have a great legacy based solely on that. Maybe you lost interest in the '90s, but it's what she did during those years, from "Vogue" to Blond Ambition to "Justify My Love" and Erotica to Ray of Light, that made her a groundbreaking revolutionary and icon. She's a beloved artist because of what she achieved collectively across both of those decades and I don't need to take a look at your channel to know that.

Papa Don't Preach (1986) from the Album True Blue. And yes, the baby is a child is not the guy from the video. When she mentioned that she wants to keep her baby is because she didn't want to abort. That's why her father is upset and forgives her at the end of the video. It was a very controversial video in the 80s because it was seen as a way for young girls to get pregnant.

You guys this song is about teen pregnancy and was huge when it came out because most pop stars didn't give a shit about social issues but MADONNA did. Another reason she is who she is.

Hey boys. Greetings from a locked down London,UK. Keep your Madonna reactions coming, please! I have been enjoying them immensely....understatement! 'La Isla Bonita' is from the same era as 'Papa Don't Preach'.....please,please,pretty please react to that for me. It's one Madonna's most Iconic songs and possibly my favourite (though there are way too many favourites to choose from.....). Madonna 'live' is a great experience too......'Fever' from 'The Girlie Show' tour would be a good place to start. Keep up the splendid work....loving it!!!!!!

If only they paid closer attention... True Blue was Madonna's biggest album of the 1980's. It became the first of her two Diamond selling albums. The first remix/greatest hits album of its kind, The Immaculate Collection is her best selling album to date with over 31 million copies sold and remains the best selling compilation album. Back to True Blue. Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, and Live To Tell were such great #1 hit singles along with the #4 hit, La Isla Bonita. The rest of the album is pretty of its time, but the hit singles remain evergreen. Also, they should shorten or change the outro. Matter of fact, the channel seems to have outgrown it altogether.

Guys, you have to be quiet long enough to listen to all the lyrics, or at least pause it whenever you want to talk. It's not about keeping a man, it's about keeping a baby because she's pregnant and she's scared to tell her dad.
    Lyrics below . . .
    [VERSE 1]
Papa I know you're going to be upset
'Cause I was always your little girl
But you should know by now, I'm not a baby
You always taught me right from wrong
I need your help, daddy please be strong
I may be young at heart, but I know what I'm saying
    [PRE-CHORUS]
The one you warned me all about
The one you said I could do without
    We're in an awful mess
And I don't mean maybe, please
    [CHORUS]
Papa don't preach I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, hm
I'm gonna keep my baby, hm
    [VERSE 2]
He says that he's going to marry me
We can raise a little family
    Maybe we'll be all right
    It's a sacrifice
    [PRE-CHORUS]
But my friends keep telling me to give it up
Saying I'm too young, I ought to live it up
What I need right now is some good advice, please
    [CHORUS]
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, hm
I'm gonna keep my baby, ooh ooh
    [BRIDGE]
Daddy, daddy if you could only see
Just how good he's been treating me
You'd give us your blessing right now
    'Cause we are in love
We are in love (in love), so please (so)
    [CHORUS]
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, hm
I'm gonna keep my baby, ooh ooh
    [CHORUS]
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
Papa don't preach (Oh, I'm gonna keep my baby)
    Papa don't preach (Ooh)
Papa don't preach (Don't you stop loving me daddy)
Papa don't preach (I know I'm keeping my baby)

So actually both the left & the right were up in arms against this video. The former supposedly bc the character didn’t go the abortion route so teenage pregnancy. In the end it’s THE woman’s choice. Dad played by Danny Aiello who died in December. His most famous role was in a CHER movie MOONSTRUCK (1987) & her Oscar.

Hey Dandy and Handsy. I love these Madonna reaction videos you guys are doing. I like that you are learning more about the Material girl through rediscovering her early years. I also love how you are trying to understand the songs as you watch them. This video was a commentary on the surge of teen pregnancies that started in the mid-to-late 80s. Parents were kicking their teenage daughters out because they got pregnant. Danny Aiello was a popular actor at the time who played Madonna's character's dad in this video. This video was quite controversial for the time period in which it was made. And you can see now why Gigi Goode was praised for her Madonna performance. I recommend you guys check out "Lucky Star" for your next reaction video. This was her first ever music video and also the look that Jan was emulating on RPDR. I can't wait to see what you guys think of Madonna's first ever video and how she has changed over the years. Keep up the great work guys. :-)

Guys, please spend more time watching the video and listening to the words, instead of commenting on their clothes and makeup. This song was quite clear in its meaning and acting. It’s about getting pregnant and worried about what her father will say when she tells him. But att he end, she is still his little girl and he forgives her.

  • @marianoprato7971
    @marianoprato7971 4 ปีที่แล้ว

To understand this you have to get (back) to the 80's . In the 80's it was really bad for a teenage girl to get pregnant without being married and some parents preferred to force their daughters to abort instead of being in front of the society as a single mom. Madonna said years later this song isn't against abortion it supports the freedom of women to decide about their own bodies. Madonna sang this song last year I guess changing the lines for : "I DON'T want to keep my baby..." supporting legal abortion for women who decide not to continue with their pregnancies around the world

  • @johnfredericks4376

This song and video was a controversy because the song was considered anti-abortion. It's about a girl wanting to keep her baby. The one time the Church was on Madonna's side.
