It is not the same obsidian anymore. Don't atribute too much nostalgia to what they are now. Take each game as it comes but personally I am not holding my breath.

I did hear about something the developer said which is very dodgy. The sort of thing there is no reason to say. I’m gonna wait to see how the game is and hope for the best. We’ve seen too many studios become toxic recently

I'm not sure how well this will age considering Obsidian is and will be facing it's own creative bankruptcy. This is not the Obsidian with Avellone. These are for the most part new devs, Progressive devs, ones that put gameplay lower on the priority list. Prepare for disappointment.

Outer Worlds was such lame weak shit compared to Fallout New Vegas and the other good Obsidians like Kotor 2 and Pillars of Eternity. I played it for like 10 hours, waiting for it to finally become good, quit one day and never touched it again. If New Vegas is "The Empire Strikes Back" then Outer Worlds is "The last Jedi" lol
Yeah I don’t think it came near to FNV. That was pretty much Obsidans peek. My hope is that TOW2 gets to be closer to those games you mentioned. The first one actually scored really well, despite all the things you mentioned. This game will either show they are really good or they never were lol

Yeah that’s what I mean. It had the potential but due to its time constraints, they sort of had to simplify things. So, the dialogue and decision rolexplsying aspect was good. But people did get bored after a certain amount of time as it was quite repetitive. My hope is they learned from everything and fix that too! Keep people engaged from start to finish.
They made a game in space just for it to be about humans and corporations wtf no interesting smart alien races that would've made it way more interesting

@AVVGaming1 I hope so, but I doubt they will. Typically studios don't go back to games they canceled at a later date. But thinking about it I'm ok with that, the wheel of time is such a massive story you can't really do it justice in a game I think. It's 15 very long books and so much more lore going on, you either need a really REALLY long game or multiple long games. It's very hard to do that justice, just ask amazon they are failing at it hard with their sad excuse of a TV show.
I played outer worlds after I played StarField and I thought outer worlds was the better game out of the 2 I was really let down with the hype with StarField and I'll never let that happen again that's why I watch reviews now

I didn't know Kotor 2 was their first game! It's easily in my top 3 all time favorites. Regarding The Outer Worlds 2, it will probably be good but I never have high expectations so that I don't get disappointed.
I'm not trying to rain on any ones parade. I'm trying to give an alternative perspective. I don't see why TOW2 would be a threat to Bethesda if we are basing this on the performance of TOW. Fallout New Vegas is the only game of this exact type that Obsidian has made that also rivals other games Bethesda has made. TOW just didn't preform anywhere near that level. Now it could be argued that Gamepass ate into the sales numbers of TOW. However, while these factors are not definitive indicators, the concurrent player count and activity on the TOW subreddit have been comparatively nonexistent, when compared to almost anything that Bethesda is known for. TOW just didn't seem to do that well and didn't seem to retain much of a fanbase. I also disagree with the idea that comparing Starfield to TOW is at all realistic or reasonable. There are reasons to make comparisons, but sales numbers and performance aren't the best things to compare. There are external factors that made Starfield sell so well. Starfield didn't sell as well as it did based on merit. Comparing Starfield to TOW based on their merit as artistic works would make more sense. I still personally hold the opinion that TOW is the worst written game that I've played from Obsidian. In my opinion, the writing lacked a number of possible elements that could have made things better, it was written with a very narrow philosophical perspective, it lacked some self awareness, Quests had a correct answer making things overly black and white, and plot dictating characters' actions, are just a few issues that come to mind. Considering Obsidian's better games have always involved Avellone and Sawyer, I don't see TOW2 doing any better than the first game. Nobody seems to be talking about it outside of niche communities. Tons of people bash Starfield in general, meaning Bethesda is at least getting attention that Obsidian isn't able to generate. More people are even complaining about Avowed than they are talking about TOW2.
lets not get too excited over upcoming games, I know that we all want them to be great and smack AAA industry on their behinds, but I'd still be cautious - if those games will be so good - we'll have a reason to celebrate, BUT if they some how don't truly live up to the hype and would be somewhat lesser of a promised games, we shouldn't drown them like the rest, at least that's my opinion

Starfield set the bar so low, I doubt Obsidian can do any worse. On top of that some of the side stories seemed like they just wrote them as they went, without an ending planned out beforehand, so they ended in nonsense. Still, I'm curious what TOW2 will have in store, hopefully it won't end up like Veilguard

Fact is outer worlds sold Well because it was marketed whit line ”from makers of new vegas”, which at the time had added value of putting it in opposition to bethesdas fallout 76, which had people calling it a peversion of what fallout should be, thus an ”authentic” new vegas experience (even if new vegas was that popular because of world building and narrative that asked hard hitting questions, but said writers no longer worked at obsidian) had extra reach whit its marketing. As for critic reviews, they are going to follow sales and parrot the anti bethesda propaganda, so score was given regardless of actual quality, which was just mediocere. Broblem whit selling yourself as maker of old glories, is if you dont have people who deserved that acolade; youll be seen as fraud once nostalgia wears off and neither selling based on hatred for competition last longer than peoples attention span for such emnity. Therefore obsidian is done, to quote a wise old woman ”to fall is such a Quiet thing, but far more terrifying to admit it” all thats left is addmitence.
It’s NOT the same company that made New Vegas. Outer Worlds 1 was a definitely not a great time for me, it was instead and unlike NV very meh and forgettable. This is normal, for example the Bioware that gave us KOTOR1 is not the same obe that gave us Veilguard.
Nowadays obsidian is not the same and the outer worlds writting and rpg elements were lacking a lot. I didn't like the visuals/gameplay either, very boring
Don’t know how this game got a sequel, the first one was so bland and boring. Obsidian is as a whole is a just big cat fish company. Everyone thinks they are this great developer, then you play their games and it’s lack luster. Remember they promised Avowed to be the next Skyrim, then drastically scaled everything back.

I didn't think Outer Worlds was remotely that good, nor even New Vegas for that matter.

”They relied on their strength as storytellers and character development” if you think outer worlds is indicitive of obsidian golden age storytelling; kotor 2 that was philosophical examination of galaxy where religions build around bipolar god dominate galagtic society, or mask of betreyal that was story about mortals capacity to self determine in a world where multiple Panthéons of gods are Real, or new vegas that posed a political question of which goverment type would be best to rebuild post post apocalyptic society. To compare outer worlds and its theme of corporate governence, going no further than to depict corporations to have mental capacity sub optiomal for pre schooler and leave it at that, is either willfully fecicious or ignorant.
Fact is outer worlds sold Well because it was marketed whit line ”from makers of new vegas”, which at the time had added value of putting it in opposition to bethesdas fallout 76, which had people calling it a peversion of what fallout should be, thus an ”authentic” new vegas experience (even if new vegas was that popular because of world building and narrative that asked hard hitting questions, but said writers no longer worked at obsidian) had extra reach whit its marketing. As for critic reviews, they are going to follow sales and parrot the anti bethesda propaganda, so score was given regardless of actual quality, which was just mediocere.
Broblem whit selling yourself as maker of old glories, is if you dont have people who deserved that acolade; youll be seen as fraud once nostalgia wears off and neither selling based on hatred for competition last longer than peoples attention span for such emnity. Therefore obsidian is done, to quote a wise old woman ”to fall is such a Quiet thing, but far more terrifying to admit it” all thats left is addmitence.

Outer Worlds 1 was a definitely not a great time for me, it was instead and unlike NV very meh and forgettable.
This is normal, for example the Bioware that gave us KOTOR1 is not the same obe that gave us Veilguard.
Nowadays obsidian is not the same and the outer worlds writting and rpg elements were lacking a lot.

Don’t know how this game got a sequel, the first one was so bland and boring. Obsidian is as a whole is a just big cat fish company. Everyone thinks they are this great developer, then you play their games and it’s lack luster. Remember they promised Avowed to be the next Skyrim, then drastically scaled everything back.
Not once did they ever claim Avowed would be a AAA experience lol
@@OpoOnTheGothey claimed it would be bigger and more dense than Skyrim, then drastically downed sized. All this can be found around 2020 when it was revealed.
@@Direwolf9818 they claimed denser, and denser than skyrim isn't exactly a standard worth holding anyone to tbh. Wouldn't any level based game be inherently denser than skyrim, realistically speaking?

The first one was overrated as f...k , so boring its a Bethesda like game without all the diffrent mutant creatures in fallout or races in the elder scrolls that made those games fun
