Good Morning Doug. We Sailed on the SS Norway which was the SS France before NCL purchased her. The France was built in 1957 as an Ocean Liner. NCL transformed her into a cruise ship. She was a Beauty 😁
Morning Doug Oh no that's alot of cancelations lots of notice which is good.Happy Birthday Voyager of the seas.Nice photo of the week.Ty for your updates. Have a wonderful Friday and wkd 😊Happy birthday to your assistant 🎉
Doug, the OLDEST cruise ship I have ever sailed on was Star/ship Oceanic which was built in 1963. When I sailed on it in 1986 it was 23 years old! Runner up is Majesty of the Seas built in 1992 and was also 23 years old when I sailed on it in 2015. Oceanic was turned into razor blades back in 2012. Majesty was sold off and last I heard is just docked doing nothing in Italy. Happy birthday to Nazaria! Have a great weekend, Doug! I have a 5K beach run early tomorrow morning! Perfect weather!
You're a class act. Nazaria aids you in being the best, keep her happy. SS Norway 8x , 6 in the same gigantic cabin off the mid ship pool. Loved that ship. Enjoy the weekend.
I think the oldest ship for me has been the Norwegian Sun (2001) - which was my first civilian cruise. USA 250 years? Wow, it seemed like the Bicentennial was just a few years ago.
My first cruise was on Voyager Of The Seas, it was in 2005, I was too young to remember it but there was a sports lounge with a giant baseball mitt, and a Johnny Rockets! And visited the Cayman Islands.
Within the last year, sailed on Margaritaville at Sea Paradise (formerly Costa Classica) built in 1991 and multiple times on Carnival Elation built in 1998.
The oldest commissioned ship I was ever on was the USS Pensacola which if I remember correctly got its commission in 1971 but I know you're talking about cruise ships. I was on Voyager back in 2010 so it was only 11 years old then. My first pleasure cruise ever was on Vision of the Seas in 08 but it was 10 years old at the time. I've been on a few Carnival cruises but allo of those were no more than 5 years old. However last month I just got off the Raindance of the Seas which I believe is somewhere between 21 & 23 years old so that would be the oldest at the time.
A few threads on CC about how NCL has recently been cancelling a bunch of ports after final payment "to offer a better experience" (aka: bait and switch to save a buck), I would not be surprised if this was another move to cut costs.
1954 sailed in 1998. Prestige was seized in Boston for not paying it's port fees. The ship had the wall removed in the middle of the ship that separated first class from second class. They had separate dining rooms and pools.
The oldest, and still a favorite ship, that we have sailed on is Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas. The ship was placed in service on 14 December 1996 making it just shy of 28-years.
Good morning Doug... we will be cruising on the Carnival sunshine in September 20 25 and she was built in 1996 as the Carnival destiny which we were also on when she was brand new… Thanks for reporting🚢
My oldest ship has was "Emerald seas" " Ocean islander" Ocean princess, and a visit to Queen Mary ! I was a sales Rep for RCCL sailed all there original ships .❤️happy sailings everyone
Mornin' Doug! NCL has been our go-to line, but I'm getting more and more disallusioned with them. 10% likely doesn't cover the increase in cost for an identical cruise. We sailed on NCL Spirit in 2016. Built in 1998 it was 18 years old. Still our favorite ship and favorite cruise! Happy birthday, Nazaria!
I sailed on the voyager of the seas September 2023. But I’ve also sailed on the carnival triumph December 2015. They are the oldest Ships that I’ve been on .
We’re on Holland America’s MS Volendam right now, just out of drydock, and it just celebrated its 25th anniversary last week as well. We love this ship - size wise, it’s on the opposite size of the scale from the Royal ship (it holds about 1400 passengers). We think that’s a perfect size.
Great piece, Doug. Some of the older ships we’ve sailed on include Carnival Elation, Celebrity Century, and some of RCI’s older classes. Also most of Celebrity’s Millennium class ships.
Good morning. I just checked my list and sure enough the oldest ship I've been on was the Carnival Fantasy. Still one of my all time favorites. It was the only one of the Fantasy Class to have the white marble atrium.
I connected with a broker when that ship was beached and bought a bunch of memorabilia like life rings and such. It was heartbreaking seeing the pictures he took of statues and tile beat to hell with a sledgehammer.
My first cruise was on the Chandris , (forerunner of Celebrity) Amerikanis in 1991. It was the old Union Castle lines Kenya Castle, launched in the 50's.
😂 Good morning Doug..love that 10% discount humor..have a good weekend.. My oldest ship was the Sovereign of the Seas- Royal Caribbean..sailed on her twice..great memories..
Hi Doug! My introduction to Carnival was the oldest ship I’ve sailed, the original Celebration from 1986. My next cruise is its newest, the Jubilee (which will trigger the memory of you invoking Jollibee 🤣).
I was on an American Hawaiian cruise in 2000 on a ship that was probably built in the 1950’s. It was the sister ship to the actual one used in the movie An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant. Old, but charming way to see the Hawaiian islands. They were an all American crew too
Good morning!! Well, you almost gave me a heart attack with the NCL cancellations. Thankfully, the Jade is not one of them. The first ship I ever cruised on was the Asure Seas from. Admiral Cruise lines😂. Way before you were probably born😮. My first cruise in Europe was on the Voyager of the Seas almost 20 years ago. Happy Birthday Voyager of the seas🍾 Have a good weekend!
The oldest ship I been on was Grandeur of the seas. I was on her frist cruise in 1996. I Bern on her now 12 times since then. She still my favorite ship
The former Destiny. I sailed when I was 18. I found a quarter on the promenade, put it in a quarter slot machine and walked away with $230. My first time ever getting close to a slot machine. I remember being nervous as hell because it felt illegal. Haha
SS Norway (1960 as SS France), MS Tropicale (1982) and the Carnival Ecstasy (1991), all quite different ships than today's vessels, and not just in tonnage. Voyager of the Seas was a sensation when she launched, and set a new standard for the industry: balcony-focused and more resort amenities like that skating rink. Biggest cruise ship in the world when she launched, as noted, but today she's dwarfed by Icon of the Seas, which is more than 100,000 tons heavier and carries almost double the passengers.
Happy Friday! The oldest ship I've ever cruised on is the Disney Magic. She was 25 years old in 2023, but you'd never know that unless you knew that. Lovely ship, our favorite Disney ship. But next year, we're cruising on the Disney Wonder to Alaska so I believe she'll be 26 years old in 2025.
Hi Doug, Great update. Ten percent future cruise credit, wow , so generous. lol I have to admit, I think the Oldest cruise ship I was on from a long gone cruise company called Dolphin Cruise line. It was mid 80s, I think the ship was from the early 60s. Doug they were a great cruise line. I will always remember the people , food and atmosphere. We took the cruise line 4 different times. lol. We still have the photos taken on the ship.
I remember reading a lot about dolphin, I can’t recall if I ever saw any of their ships. Unless they were in Port Canaveral, that’s where I did all my cruising growing up. Thanks for sharing.
Yet another cruiser on the SS Norway (formerly the SS France). What a beautiful and classic ship with all the grandeur of this type of voyage. I miss this in a small way.
Oldest ship? My very first cruise back in the early 90’s: Royal Caribbean’s Song of Norway. She had been another ship when RC bought her, and her claim to fame was that RC had her “stretched” to add more space. We did a Southern Caribbean round trip from San Juan PR; felt every “bump” 😂 and the “highlight” was a lady having her boyfriend break up with her at dinner one night…and she you know what that night. Thank God they found her although it was night and she fought all attempts at rescue. I remember when we got to our first stop at Martinique, they were hauling her off on a stretcher. It’s no wonder I never forgot the cruise.
Hi Doug. Greetings from Miami,FL. Love all your broadcasts that keep everyone up to date with all the cruise news. I was on the Dolphin Cruise line a long time ago.
We had our Panama Full Transit cruise on NCL Jade canceled. The Jade shows no cruises available in November thru January. So the announcement did not include all ships involved. We cannot find another NCL full transit but there was a cruise on Viva just out of our price range because of airfare. We can now afford it using the FCC. So we are coming out ahead! And we will do the Panama Canal in the future!
Croisieres de France ship Horizon was 27 when she was decommissioned. I sailed on her for a Mediterranean cruise in April 2014. I also sailed on MSC Melody on her final voyage in 2011. She was 17 years old, I think. 🤔
Yes, they cancelled my South American cruise on the Star. It was plenty of notice, so ho hum. I wasn’t keen on sailing on NCL again, my last experiences were disappointing. So fine. I have time to find a better cruise and hope I’m treated with more courtesy and respect than I’ll ever get from NCL
Still haven’t done Paradise. I remember my grandma went on that sailing when it debuted because it was non-smoking. It had to have been in the mid to late 90s.
NCL's move to cancel cruises is just another example that the entire cruise industry has become too bold and placing disappointment on many unsuspecting cruisers that have made firm plans and spent money needlessly.
Good Morning Doug. We Sailed on the SS Norway which was the SS France before NCL purchased her. The France was built in 1957 as an Ocean Liner. NCL transformed her into a cruise ship. She was a Beauty 😁
My first cruise was on the Disney Magic during its inaugural year in 1998!
Morning Doug
Oh no that's alot of cancelations lots of notice which is good.Happy Birthday Voyager of the seas.Nice photo of the week.Ty for your updates.
Have a wonderful Friday and wkd 😊Happy birthday to your assistant 🎉
Thanks, you too!
We sailed on SSNorway the old SS France when it was around 40 years old.
I think they kept that one in service a little too long. But what great memories. Thank you for sharing.
Heck yeah. Good luck tmrrw. My next run is the Rock n roll in Vegas. Either the 15k or 1/2. Jury still out. 🎸
@ Thanks! That sounds like a great Vegas run!
You're a class act. Nazaria aids you in being the best, keep her happy. SS Norway 8x , 6 in the same gigantic cabin off the mid ship pool. Loved that ship. Enjoy the weekend.
Ecstasy is the oldest ship I've sailed. You were there Doug, thanks for the selfie, and helping St Jude.
Hard to believe it has been two years already! What a sailing. Great meeting you. Thank you for sharing.
The oldest ship I went on is Norwegian brackway I when on it when it was 5 years old and now it's 11 years old
Growing up with the ship. Very cool. Thanks for sharing bud.
I think the oldest ship for me has been the Norwegian Sun (2001) - which was my first civilian cruise.
USA 250 years? Wow, it seemed like the Bicentennial was just a few years ago.
Carnival's Paradise at 26 y/o is the oldest ship I have sailed on recently.
Generous "10%" 😂😂. Did I a hint of sarcasm ... Have a good weekend Doug!
Haha. Me, never!
My first cruise was on Voyager Of The Seas, it was in 2005, I was too young to remember it but there was a sports lounge with a giant baseball mitt, and a Johnny Rockets! And visited the Cayman Islands.
Very cool! Way to make me feel old.
Carnival Paridise launched in 1998. It was my first cruise 2009 to Mixican Riviera! Thanks Doug, for you're great cruise reporting !
That’s some history. Thanks for your service, and sharing.
Our first in 2012 was the miracle old girl but now she has had a makeover. Beautiful
A few threads on CC about how NCL has recently been cancelling a bunch of ports after final payment "to offer a better experience" (aka: bait and switch to save a buck), I would not be surprised if this was another move to cut costs.
It seems odd to cancel a potential 169k people unless the demand just wasn't there.
1954 sailed in 1998. Prestige was seized in Boston for not paying it's port fees. The ship had the wall removed in the middle of the ship that separated first class from second class. They had separate dining rooms and pools.

I'm on Jade for a Panama cruise and I just found out that that will be canceled!
😮 Dang. I’m sorry.
😮wait! What?! I am on the Jade for South America. I better go check my emails.
Im on the carnival paradise now. We were supposed to set sail at 3:30 yesterday, but we didn't leave until 1 am due to mechanical issues.
Good morning Doug... we will be cruising on the Carnival sunshine in September 20 25 and she was built in 1996 as the Carnival destiny which we were also on when she was brand new… Thanks for reporting🚢
The Volendam celebrated its 25th anniversary 2 weeks ago on our current 6 week cruise to Egypt RT from Port Everglades.
10% FCC is NOT “generous.” Not surprising for NCL.
My oldest ship has was "Emerald seas" " Ocean islander" Ocean princess, and a visit to Queen Mary ! I was a sales Rep for RCCL sailed all there original ships .❤️happy sailings everyone
it was a honor to sail on the TSS "Fairsea" ( ex Cunard Liner RMS Carinthia) Sitmas Lines 1986)
going on Grand princess in December. First cruised in May 1998.
Nice. That’s one I haven’t done yet. Thanks for sharing.
100% agree with that. Haven’t done Spirit yet. Looking at them for SE Asia at some point.
Jubilee 1992. L.a. to mexico 7 day, cabo, p.v. Manzanillo
Oh wow! Have you don’t the current jubilee or any plans to?
I sailed on the voyager of the seas September 2023.
But I’ve also sailed on the carnival triumph December 2015. They are the oldest Ships that I’ve been on .
Carnival Elation was our oldest and our first cruise. August 2023!!
The Carnival Fantasy was my first cruise in August 2013. So sad she’s gone!
Sounds like you’re sailing is the winner. That’s an ideal passenger count for me. Enjoy the rest of your voyage
Great piece, Doug. Some of the older ships we’ve sailed on include Carnival Elation, Celebrity Century, and some of RCI’s older classes. Also most of Celebrity’s Millennium class ships.
Hey Doug thanks for the news. Have a great weekend.
You too, bud.
Oldest ship, MS Noordam III in 1992. Built 1983, sold 2005 (MS Thompson Celebration), scrapped 2022. And was just on Noordam IV in September.
The SS Norway in 1995. At that time it was 35 yrs old and under NCL operation for 16 years.
That ship has a wild past. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day.
Are the NCL ships being repossessed by lenders?
Just got off the NCL Jewel a few weeks ago, thats my oldest ship at 19 years old, but thats also only my second cruise.
Thanks for the Cruise News Mate
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Hi Doug. Carnival Sensation for oldest ship and first cruise. Cruised on her in 2012 when she was 19 years old. Built in 1993… wow.
😂 Good morning Doug..love that 10% discount humor..have a good weekend..
My oldest ship was the Sovereign of the Seas- Royal Caribbean..sailed on her twice..great memories..
Voyager of the Seas was my first cruise in 2001!
You were on her when she was still new. Very cool.
Hi Doug! My introduction to Carnival was the oldest ship I’ve sailed, the original Celebration from 1986. My next cruise is its newest, the Jubilee (which will trigger the memory of you invoking Jollibee 🤣).
Lol. Didn't Celebration come out it 1987?! Enjoy your cruise.
I sailed on the old Celebration out of Jacksonville. I believe the ship started in 1986.
I was on an American Hawaiian cruise in 2000 on a ship that was probably built in the 1950’s. It was the sister ship to the actual one used in the movie An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant. Old, but charming way to see the Hawaiian islands. They were an all American crew too
No way. I've seen that movie. Very cool!! Thank you for sharing.
Good morning Doug thanks for the updates 👍 Have a great weekend 😀 Great picture Rich 📸 Oldest ship was Mariner of the Sea in 2004

Carnival’s Festivale was my oldest ship. She was 33 years old at the time I sailed her.
Happy Birthday Voyager of the seas🍾
Have a good weekend!
Close call. I just looked up Asure Seas. It did launch the same year my dad was born.
The oldest ship I been on was Grandeur of the seas. I was on her frist cruise in 1996. I Bern on her now 12 times since then. She still my favorite ship
Carnival Sunshine is the oldest ship, for me. ❤
The former Destiny. I sailed when I was 18. I found a quarter on the promenade, put it in a quarter slot machine and walked away with $230. My first time ever getting close to a slot machine. I remember being nervous as hell because it felt illegal. Haha

Oh wow! The only Disney ship I’ve sailed so far is fantasy. Thanks for sharing.
We sailed on Carnival Elation earlier this year. She turned 26 in 2024.
Fantasy or Sensation was my two oldest ships. Now I prefer the brands new ones or the ones with a massive refurbishment! 🤣
Yes, the evolution has been wild! Thanks for sharing.
Elation was my oldest I think. Still serving guests with a smile for 26, almost 27 years.
Hi Doug,
Great update. Ten percent future cruise credit, wow , so generous. lol
I have to admit, I think the

My oldest ship is Enchantment of the Seas. Been onboard 3 times with her.
Oh wow. There is something nice about those smaller ships. Thank you for sharing.
My first sailing was on the Fantasy in 2012
Carnival Ecstasy would have been 33 years old this year.
RIP
Yet another cruiser on the SS Norway (formerly the SS France). What a beautiful and classic ship with all the grandeur of this type of voyage. I miss this in a small way.

Oh wow. That one brings back some memories. Thanks for being here.
My oldest ship was the MS Switzerland in the 90's! Ship has been scrapped a few years ago!
Disney Magic is the oldest cruise ship I've been on. Majestic and clean for its age.
Absolutely. They keep their ships in tip top shape for sure.
My oldest ship was NCL Sky built in 1999. It was still a pretty good ship.
Carnival Sensation is probably the oldest for us. Happy Friday Doug!
It’s so wild they pulled six of those ships so quickly. They were some serious money makers. Paid off a long time ago. Then covid.
@@CruiseRadio I would still sail on them today if they were here.
Regent Sea sailed in 1988 my 1st cruise
My 1st cruise was on the carnival Sunshine.
Croisieres de France ship Horizon was 27 when she was decommissioned. I sailed on her for a Mediterranean cruise in April 2014.
I also sailed on MSC Melody on her final voyage in 2011. She was 17 years old, I think. 🤔
Royal Caribbean enchantment of the seas summer of 2023 Mediterranean cruise
S. S. Minnow but it only did a three hour cruise.
hey-oh!
My oldest ship was the Carnival Fantasy
Yes, they cancelled my South American cruise on the Star. It was plenty of notice, so ho hum. I wasn’t keen on sailing on NCL again, my last experiences were disappointing. So fine. I have time to find a better cruise and hope I’m treated with more courtesy and respect than I’ll ever get from NCL
Mine will be Sunshine in March.
That’s right, it’s just a couple of years away from turning 30.
Carnival Paradise from Long Beach California.
My first cruise early to mid ‘80’s was Royal Song of Norway, then Nordic Prince and Song of America…skip forward to the 2000’s
Britanis. She was 51 when I sailed
No way. That is some history. Thank you for sharing. Have a nice weekend.
NCL Dawn. Her first year
The oldest ship we've been on is the Adventure of the Seas
Not sure of the age of the ship, but I’m sure it’s been taken to the pastures and retired: Royal Caribbean Splendor of the Sea 2004
Carnival Imagination.
Happy Birthday Nazaria!
Carnival Elation was the oldest ship I have been on…
1976 MS Boheme - Commodore Cruise Line
cruised on the NCL Norway, twice
I think Carnival Valor or NCL Jewel
Disney Magic in February of this year, 26 years old but still a great ship.
The Big Red Boat
I remember being docked next to one of their ships in Port Canaveral sailing Carnival Fantasy.
Carnival Fantasy built 1990
Carnival conquest
Th first time I won the cash claw machine was on Conquest, it was a $500 grab, will never forget. Thank you for sharing.
Great video.
Thanks!
Have a good Friday and a Great Weekend ..
Good am Doug.
