I always love watching your videos, you have such a calming voice. Your videos are very relaxing and rhythmic, clear and concise instructions. Not to mention so so cute!!!
I love this bag. I know it's not what it's intended for but I really want to make one to be used as a thread and scrap holder when I go to my Australian Sewing Guild meetings. We meet at the local Church hall and there aren't any rubbish bins to throw your thread snips and scraps into before you go home. I have an open thread snip container but then the threads fall out all over my sewing bag when going home. A little bag like this that can be opened out, sit by itself to collect all the threads etc and then can be pulled closed to keep the scraps etc in would be great and so pretty on the table. I'm going to make one for sure. I loved this video.
@@lorraineknox7695 I did some research into your suggestion and over all it has been said it's a bad idea because of threads getting tangled onto small chicks legs etc. Sorry, seemed a good idea at the time but I won't do it.
What a lovely idea for this bag--to keep thread snips. I have a tiny bag I keep my thread snips in when I'm out and about, a bigger one would be helpful.
Thank you so much Emma, I've just found you on TH-cam and think you're fabulous. I'm definitely going to visit your shop and make some purchases.....esp those pony needles. Xx
as always Emma, I lovely project. this is a Japanese Rice bag -Kombukuro. I think that is how you spell it. love the flowery ribbon....where does your mum live that was a great charity shop find..x
I love this channel and Dainty Diaries as well. So many nice sewing projects. I think I'm going to try and make a bag like this, after all these years I've never done a quilt as you go project, after 40 years of sewing, maybe it's time.
This is such a lovely project, Emma! I love it!! Would love to add one to my sewing area! Thank You so much for sharing this tutorial, & all your tips!💜🌿🌷🌷🌷🌿
A gorgeous little bag, definitely going to make one, will be good to carry my small piece of stitching when I meet other crafters in our community lounge, absolutely ideal Thankyou for once again a lovely video, so relaxing listening to you and so easy to follow, I think I will buy some of those needles they will help no end with hand stitch, many Thanks Elizabeth T, Kent
What a beautiful project. Thank you so much for thisinspiration and also for all the valuable advice how to best use Liberty fabric. You do amazing work. 👍👍❤❤
Thank you for today, always a pleasure watching you see, I find it very relaxing. Love what you were making. Love your thimble. You make things look so easy. So wish I could borrow a. It of you to help me.hehe.
Stunning book! Had a look on-line .. those fabrics are gorgeous also. The quilt looks delicious! What a treat for you!!! Love your tips, especially the use of the straight stitch only throat plate!
Hi Emma What a lovely bag. I can find many uses for this cute little bag.I can teach my granddaughters how to make one.Thank you and take care of yourself ❤❤❤
What a lovely project! It’s beautiful. I always use a scrap of fabric (a thread bunny) to start each piece of sewing. It stops threads being pulled into the machine and also your precious fabric which is more likely to happen when it’s very fine like tana lawn. Works a treat!
Lovely way to use Tana Lawn. Thanks also for the tips. I've already ordered this book & am looking forward to receiving it. You should consider compiling one with all your wonderful creations Emma. Thanks for the tuto xxxxx
Thank you for the thread tips! I'm usually a deer in the headlights standing in front of thread displays not knowing which one is suitable for the fabrics I'm using.
Awww, I LOVE this little bag!!! It would be perfect for keeping your wool in when knitting or crocheting, as you suggested. It's a great way to use up blocks you might make just for learning purposes, to see which blocks you like before committing to a quilt. But honestly, even just squares of nice fabrics would be beautiful for this - I just love the tabs and the substantial ribbon. Thank you so much for this tutorial, Emma, and all your tips. Oh, about joining quilt as you go hexagons for an actual quilt... I was thinking of using ladder stitch so as to keep the back absolutely smooth, so your tip about using stronger thread and keeping the stitches small was very helpful to me. I just wondered if I should use cotton thread to join? Do you have any advice on this? I got a spool of Aurifil mako 50w cotton, but it's very thin and easy to snap - am I right in thinking this woukd be too weak to join my hexies? (Though it's lovely for handstitching the bindings.) Unless I use it doubled?? Thanks again for all you do, Emma❤
thank you so much! so glad you liked the video. I have tried joining with thinner thread and I honestly think something thicker is best. You have to pull the thread for ladder stitch so I find it can snap easily. Try something like aurifil 12wt, I find it works well for this purpose x
@@emmajonesvintagesewingbox thanks so much for answering, Emma. I value your advice. I'll look for that 12w thread. Thank you! A quilt as you go quilt is certainly a longterm project, but the benefit I'm finding is that I can buy smallish amounts of fabric at a time as I can afford it. And with fabrics like Tilda and Liberty I'll always get something that tones, even if a design goes out of production. 😍
Could you please mention the name of these sewing needles with the marks on it? I'd like to find them here in Germany, as buying from Britain meanwhile is so expensive unfortunately. Thank you so much for your always adorable ideas. Greetings from Germany ❤
Thank you. No pattern, the video shows how to make it without a pattern, you just need to make some 6 1/2” quilt blocks you can use free patterns online for those or otherwise just cut 6 1/2” squares from your fabric instead. Hope that helps
What a great project bag. Thank you Emma for the inspiration and excellent tutorial. ❤❤❤🇨🇦

Leave the scrap threads out for the birds. They line their nests with them!
