Yeah, I remember back on dark souls release, I picked up the plasma pistol on my first playthrough, it had the best scaling and base stats in the game before it got nerfed

Plasma Pistol + Pistol remains a decent build.
That said, I'm still upset the Pistol got nerfed into oblivion, even though it clearly needed it. Ornstein and Smough going down to a single well placed shot each was beyond ridiculous. But it was just so much fun to use!
Definitely a viable build. I prefer a BFG9000 build though. If you don’t like the vulnerability of the chargeup animation, you can always use to Soul of Qualaag to ascend it to the Unmakyr, which has faster attack animations. Farming argent ammo in the demon ruins is a pain in the ass, though.

I think we all remember the Flipping Havel + Needler builds from 1.04. Why did they think it was a good idea to make the Needler stunlock?
So "funny" note about Nito, you kinda F yourself by wearing the sunlight maggot in his boss room. Nito's boss room is pre-lit, [unlike the rest of the tomb] and bringing in any light source causes him to spam the grave lords sword dance [the scream/sword attack].
Can't you avoid that attack by just moving forward?
For the record, the reason why the demon ruins and genral bed of chaos area is so bad is because it was the lowest in the dark souls development priorities, They got rushed and had to make due with what they had for those ruins since they were the last unfinished area and it does show
bed of chaos unironically makes demon ruins feel not that bad. knowing what your about to have to deal with i dont even dislike demon ruins

P.S. Sunlight Maggot or light spell from Dusk makes Nito extra-aggressive with his ranged attacks. He practically spams them instead of lazily throwing them from time to time, making him much harder than he usually is.

It really amazes me how good the shooting mechanics feel ( or looks) in DS1. It genuinely feels like it belongs in the base game if the weapons are re-named into more lore-friendly names.
InfernoPlus actually had to recode the entire aiming camera to fucking work because A: The bow cam is trash, and B: Shit like the Rocket Launcher is too large for the vanilla camera positioning to work
The hornet ring doesn't buff headshots. That being said, it would be a cool update for the mod.
There are a couple things you couldn’t possibly know on a blind playthrough. Locking on is worse for a few places. Having no armor is sometimes helpful because fast roll. And finally, 4 kings do less damage by the hilt so you’re better off just walking up to them in a normal playthrough. Probably a couple others you can figure out on your own.

If it makes you feel better Davey, nothing in the series is as bad as bed of chaos. If you decide to play the rest of the series you have already seen the worst. Even the ds 2 co op areas aren't as bad as it, those atleast have some neat rewards and one really good boss fight to them.

I didn't know Hornet Ring came with the caveat of "doesn't boost headshots". I went the entire run thinking "Headshot = critical attack, Hornet ring = boost critical attack, headshot = kill". Shite.

I don’t even need to watch this video! I’ve been practicing this as a speed run ever since the mod came out! Super fun run lmao.
I will mention the special attack that all the covenant guns get; the replacement jump attack input being a plasma grenade is OP as hell. Stickies do double damage technically in some weird glitchy way if their remaining HP is double your grenade damage or lower, the explosion also cancels their animation, super great speed run starts with the plasma pistol.
You can cheese the Sus Squad in this mod with the Squirrel ring and jumping onto the doorway arch in their arena. They can’t hit you up there unless they teleport from falling off but if you keep pressuring them with your gun they most likely won’t.
So uh, were you aware that if you do the input for a jumping attack with any of the guns it throws a grenade?
The amount of eye widening moments in this video made my vision from 10/20 to 20/20

Also for the invisible pathways in crystal cave. You can see where you can walk on based on the blue crystalline thingies raining down and breaking on impact with the invisible bridge

To be fair, the invisible paths in Crystal Cave aren't that bad. They're all straight and the game gives you more than enough indication for where they are, thanks to the bits of "snow" falling onto them.
I used the glowstone shits I really didn't know what to do about that, man I miss those good days
theres something special about someones first playthrough of this game. reminds me of mine. learning that duel welding kills the gargoyles faster than hugging my shield, struggling with quelog and getting completely addicted to the game afterwards, leveling resistance. im sure theres more but i cant remember past that
