After you install Windows what are the settings you change to make the experience better for you? Thanks for watching :)

Thanks, Brett. I've already done some of those changes, and it's good to learn about the others (W10).
Can I disable Microsoft OneDrive on startup, as it has a high impact, or will that affect it in any way after I've signed in???

Open Task Manager. Go to "Startup apps" tab. Select "Microsoft OneDrive". Then select "Disable".

That's weird, because I've only just received a notification of your reply! Five days???
Anyway, many thanks for getting back to me. That's great, because my Startup is so slow, so this will hopefully help. Take care.

As always, your video directions are concise and easy to follow. I love how you move your cursor directly to the point and then give a slight pause for us to register where you are. So many other explanation videos needlessly flick their cursor around before they lite on the point.
Your videos, for me, have always been a perfect presentation of shareworthy, VALUABLE information.

Thanks Brett for those useful tips, one that I always check is those startup apps. When you disable the ones you don't need (which is most of them), there will a difference in how quickly the PC starts.I also enable the "do not disturb","night light" and "show file extension" features

I honestly wouldn't recommend switching on get updates as soon as they are available. As of late, there have been updates released which have caused chaos in the Windows world.

i always pause updates for two weeks still using win 10, have another ssd drive in my running linux mint. have used it as a daily driver for a month, works great, i dont play games, will have to try virtual box and make a vm machine for 10

Yeah I wish you could switch them off. I truly believe that my last computer which was working fine one day and the next day it was malfunctioning and would not let me log on wouldn't even take me to the logins screen and it was only 7 years old. I tried everything even riding my data to CDs which didn't work by the way. And I lost everything. But I am convinced that it's because of Windows updates and they ruined my graphics drivers and caused all kinds of problems. And it used to be that you didn't have to do windows updates years ago now you have to. So I wouldn't be quick to turn them on and would never turn them on if it were possible.

@@CatT1987Isn't there a registry setting to turn off updates past a particular version?
I have mine set to only allow Win 10 updates. Win 11 is too unstable & no big advantage for me.

Has anyone yet figured out how to force File Explorer to show details instead of the file icons (or thumbnails) when you open the program? I'm sick to death of having to manually change to the detail view and even more annoyed that if I switch to a different directory, it shows the icons (or thumbnails) again.

Oh, hidden file extension a pet peeve of mine! Why, oh, why did Microsoft ever think that is a good thing. The easiest way to fool someone to run an executable and thinking it is a document.

For some reason, I have a rly hard time trying to update the app or win 11 itself...
App eternally trying to download and winn1 retry to download ...
I'm connected by cable to internet and I can download from internet without problems
Are there an option to make to download updates one by one ?

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't let you remove the Recommend text at the bottom of the start menu, which they should

My power plan on my PC is set at balanced, however, I want performance, but there is no option to change the setting from edit power plan or choose power plan. I have power and battery set to best performance so I cant understand why power plan is set to balanced.
I there somewhere else I can choose this setting?

Don't switch on "get updates as soon as they're available" unless you don't care about your system and have an spare PC. Thank me later.

There isn't really any point to switching power plan from balanced. It doesn't make any big difference. Only thing that actually does something is power saver on laptops. The other options was barely relevant 10 years ago.
