I don't say this shit often .. but you're channel is going to be one of the most underrated .. you always give that good knowledge - great delivery, explained thoroughly, not wordy and dragged TF out like other people do .. good stuff - hope you stay like that! I like the videos and very informative
I just bought the baby D stroyer in every variety of purple color you offer from missle baits for my upcoming upnorth trip to my place in northern Michigan! I heard they work very well! (stained/ tanik) water...
Probably THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN PITCHING AND FLIPPING!! I've loved to flip pitch and punch since I started fishing 6 years ago and I used to use all heavier weights like 3/8 - 1/2 for everything then now ill toed on atleast 2 pitching setups. 1 bigger bait, heavier weight and another smaller bait, lighter weight and if they won't bite thise ill mix in longer slender baits and smaller slender baits if they don't want the thumping or dead actions
Sometime slow fall, sometimes fast. Sometimes big profile, sometime small. Sometimes big action, sometimes subtle... Can’t tell you when or why...But sometimes! What a pro tip😂
Hey John you are just an information machine All that stuff you just taught me I knew nothing about it. And you just gave me some ideas for your missile craw . I get a kick out of you John those facial expressions at the end of the video says to me I'll show these guys who the flipping scientist is great great video. God bless you and your family bud John I wish I could spend the day with you on your boat fishing with you. Ps I like the action on the shockwave.
Great points John!! How long do you flip a bait before giving up and changing the weight or the size? Do you start bulky and go lower on the weight or do you change the size first? I'm just trying to get a general idea on where to start. Thanks again!
That fall rate is #1 like you say. Hey man that bigger destroyer is one of the best night baits i have ever used. I fish it on a 1/8 tungsten bullet weight. That slow fall, all that action and the best sent on the market on a riprap bank with shad flipping and its on. My wife cant keep her nose out of my missle baits she loves the smell.
3/8 jig with a rage craw or spicy beaver has been my big producer. The man bear pig or the Gambler 5" Stinger with a 3/8 flipping weight is awesome too. I wished I could afford to have ten flipping rods rigged up at all times because there are so many great creature baits out there🐟👊🏼
@@JohnCrews makes sense! Thanks man.. I've always just adjusted weight depending on tha depth I was fishing or of course temperature of water. but never really adjusted based on tha bite. always assumed i needed color or profile change but ill definitely start playing around with my fall rate more often.
I flip flooded bushes with a 3/16 or 1/4 oz weight all the time. Always have. That being said, I will go slightly heavier at times. But a 3/16 oz weight on my flippin bait is almost exclusive. I also tend to stay un pegged always, even pitchin heavy cover. Say what you may.
Would you consider Smith Mountain Lake to be a "flipping lake"? If so, I'd guess around docks and laydowns... Is there any need to use a really heavy weight there, since there isn't really much to punch through? Thanks for putting out all these videos, I'm learning a lot!
IMO, I tend to think of that situation more as a Precision Pitching while still focusing on these three factors as well as adding a fourth factor. Angle of bait, not in regards to your position but approach angle of bait to the bass and angle of departure from bass. Never forget that bass ambush so set your bug up to be a victim of the ambush
I flip and punch the big d bomb about 80% of the time. I have caught all of the biggest bass in my life using that bait. I've even caught crappy and goggle eye on it punching with a 1.5 oz weight! The very first day I ever fished it I caught a nine even. Since then I have caught many, fives a few sixes, a 7.5 and an 8.5 It delivers numbers too at times.
Another great video! Keep giving me all your secrets.🤣

Gambler flippin tubes were great. Rigged on a big ewg weightless had a spiral fall.
Not sure I quite get it John. I guess I'll just have to go out flipping with you some day!!! Thanks for your info!

solid break down
John, what color is that crawbait at 2:45
Great info John. Got a new subscriber here. Thank you!
Great video John nailed it 👍
I have noticed the fall rate and the bait size. Never paid attenion to the type/profile though. Will keep it in mind.

Start in your comfort areas and give it an hour. Then start changing

Hey John you using the Daiwa Tatula flipping & pitching reel?
What kind of signs if any do you see in tha bite that makes you decide to change weights one way or the other?
If you don’t get bites where you were getting bit or they just tap it

Every lake is a flipping lake. Punching is different

What line sizes, types and rod and reel setup do you prefer?
I’ll have to do a whole new video on that!
Hoping you would talk about "how "to flip..reel settings mostly.. rod ,line size ect...maybe next time.thx for the vid
Magnum Crawfather Junebug, Candy Grass, and Super Bug!!

Nice!
Do you ever drag the missile craw on a swing head?
What Rod for most flipping?
Cashion 7’6” MH
John Crews not a heavy action?
Jason Mausteller H for about 1/3 for me. MH for 2/3
I still think the Baby D Bomb is the most productive flipping bait I've ever found. 🤷♂️
It’s strong 😊
Hey anyone seen my rod. Ahhh there it is 😎😊. Crossing eyes in Kansas. Good luck in Alabama!!!!
What about color ?
No secret colors
Which one you gonna respond to faster "A kick door"or a knock on the door"🤷
Will depend on what I respond with. 😂
Knocks are common Kick doors is aggressive who is this🤷
Flipping or pitching? 2 different techniques.
Grouping them together for this topic
@@JohnCrews Do people flip much anymore? I think most pitch (but everyone calls it flipping).
1st view
The bass won't tell me nothin, either bubba...& I talk to Em a lot but it's very 1 sided...
