Is it possible that the most important factor in getting a WOW!!! out of your telescope is your eyepiece Apparent Field of View (AFOV):
AFOV == WOW ?
Also AFOV == $$$
How much do you need? What should you pay? Is 10x the cost worth 3x the sky?

When you say you “wouldn’t spend $700 on an eyepiece - there are much higher value alternatives.” What alternatives are you talking about?
