    Triumph always managed to put down some hard hitting music accompanied by inspirational and uplifting lyrics. These guys were part of the soundtrack to my teens. Awesome band. Keep up the great work Brad and Lex!

      That focus on the positive made them really unique. I suspect the reason the lyric is about how 'she' got the magic from him, that this may have been the one written for his aunt who was fighting cancer. On top of being positive, like the singers in Journey, Boston and Kansas, Rik had one of the all-time great rock voices, all while they were all monsters on their instruments. I feel very lucky to have seen them live a few times. Glad these two great people enjoyed them as much as we do.

      works as a 3 piece and the amount of sound they can make as a band with 3 members is impressive but they were a great rhythm guitarist and 1 or 2 more timeless bangers away from being considered a great like rush on their own. i love them either way.

      IF they are going to do Fight The Good Fight, IT MUST BE FROM THE US FESTIVAL, as it was the seminal moment in the career of Triumph. On that day, and with FTGF, Triumph blew away Van Halen, Ozzy, Judas Priest et al., and took Rock Music to another level with Rik's statement "sitting down on the stage and educating us with brilliance" , Solo.

    I loved the image of the girl who had a bad day and was lifted up by hearing her favorite song on the radio. That is something that I miss today given that we have all the music with one click of the mouse or tap of a finger. Back in the days when radio was king, there was nothing like listening to the radio and one of your favorite song comes on.

  • @joelhammond4162
    @joelhammond4162 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A perfect example of a songwriter writing the music to fit and coincide with the lyrics so well. Lex doesn’t follow the lyrics that closely yet she described the uplifting nature of the song perfectly just based on the sound of the music. In some instances, like this one, I think Lex would come to appreciate the song even more by reading the lyrics and seeing how it all fits together so succinctly with intention and purpose. Rik and the band set out to write a song about the magic power of music and every note exists to help achieve that goal for the listener. It’s a feeling and experience that any music lover can relate to so intimately, how emotionally connected we are to our favorite music. ❤️ Triumph wrote many songs that accomplish this quite well.

    Triumph was always the "forgotten band," in my mind. Overshadowed by Rush, but just as good in their own way. If it weren't for their unbelievable performance at the US festival, I wonder whether they ever would've been known outside of Canada at all - besides by all of us Detroiters, who always got Canadian Rock on the radio. What a great rock town in the '80s. WRIF, WLLZ, and WABX defined my teen years. Music has never been the same.

    Great reaction and thanks for sharing. On a side note, Triumph in 1983 played at the US festival. If you really like them, watch all the videos from that concert. They are one of those bands that absolutely are better live most of the time. The studio album washes out the bass and drums, but live you get a chance to really see how good all of them are as musicians and how amazing Rik Emmett's voice is live. 'Fight the Good Fight' 'Magic Power' 'Lay it on the line' all amazing live at the US festival 1983. Chris

    Best example of why we all listen to music. And it can be very emotional also. This song describes ALL songs of any genre. So glad you reacted to this absolute classic!!!

    This song came out just as I was entering high school and starting to develop my musical tastes, and along with anything by Rush, it was and still is one of my favourites. Looking forward to seeing more from the two of you!!!

    I got to see Triumph supporting this album Allied Forces. Rick Emmet and the guys were incredible. I was young but thoroughly enjoyed the show. Allied Forces is a great album.

    So, 3:30 in the morning, July 5th, up late with friends after amazing bbq, listening to Triumph and look what came up in my recommendations. 2:47 Lex says "I feel like this song was a baby and they nurtured and raised it. They just really put the energy in this song. It's so beautiful!" Someone thinking about a Jack or Jill long before there was a Jack? lol Y'all are parenting done right! Luv Ya! ❤🤍💙

    You nailed it Lex 🙏. Interesting that you would be reminded of Rush because Triumph is also a Canadian 3-man band 😉. I promise at the time this song came out, I was "lying in the bed, pulled my covers overhead, hoping the DJ woud play my favorite song". Such a great reaction to one of my favorite all-time bands.

    I still have Rik’s pick that he handed to me when I saw them at The Santa Monica Civic in 1980 (81). After over 40 years of concerts, they’re still top five.

      That's awesome, I didn't catch them until the thunder seven tour when they played the L.A. sports arena in 1985.
