I don't know if this radio is full duplex or not; full duplex HTs are great for satellite work but you can't use them in the manner shown in this video. If you just don't have the right button pushed or something you're going to have a problem when it does start working. You must use headphones or an external speaker with a full duplex HT- allow me to explain. The speaker and microphone essentially have no physical separation on an HT. Think about where the sound comes from and where you talk into- it's the same place. Normally not a problem- most people using an HT don't use the speaker and mic at the same time. With a full duplex HT where you intend to transmit and receive simultaneously, it's very necessary to pipe the receive audio into headphones or an external speaker away from the microphone or the microphone picks up the output coming out of the speaker right next to the microphone and you have a feedback loop. Just using it like a normal HT as shown here won't transmit your voice, you transmit a loud unpleasant squeal into the satellite when you push the PTT and get into the satellite. Learned that one the hard way with a Kenwood.

ISS Detector works alot better if you don't use the vertical camera view. Instead, strap the phone flat against the yagi and let the top of the phone point where the yagi points. Then it shows the sat track across the screen and a small circle where the phone/yagi is pointing. Then you don't have to hold the phone.

Watch out for that Doppler guy, he's a shifty dude. Doppler does affect both 2 meters and 70 centimeters but is more pronounced on 70 cm. You can get away with not adjusting 2 meters when working mode V/U FM satellites but on mode U/V such as AO-91, AO-92 (when it's alive) and PO-101 you definately need to adjust your transmit frequency starting 10 kHz down. On AO-91 you will notice the shift on the 2 meter downlink just after AOS and just before LOS. Use that 2.5 kHz step if you have it.

I do. I was talking about this pass of the ISS that is V/U Also AO-91 is almost dead sadly.

Nice video mate. I tested in my crossband and it has internal desense... Which is a pain... Practically the satellite needs to be really strong to hear yourself coming back...

On the top of the screen when you click radar on the selected Sat you get the view from the camera with the dotted circle to track the bird. Try itand get back to me see if it worked.I have version 2.9.1

Great setup you have. I have that radio on my wishlist.
I like the video but my only critique is that the sound track is a bit too loud. Just subbed, looking forward to any new content, im not fussy. :)
