I fell in love with HAM radio (2021) and have been enjoying satellite contacts, including those with astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). Im having a great time with my TH-cam channel, where I share videos of my satellite contacts, global conversations, and instructional information about the equipment I use. Promoting HAM radio through my channel is a fantastic way to inspire others and spread awareness about the hobby.

I think you mentioned using the SAT box to control the rotator but use the new handheld for the radio (which will work, I think) while the 9700 is out of service. That seems like a good idea for your TH-cam channel while waiting for your "real" sat radio to be returned.
I did try that. The problem is there is 100 feet of LMR 400 on the tower antennas and the HT is only 5 watts. By the time it gets to the antenna it's more like less then 1 watt.
Hey Mike. Thanks for the podcast and this interview. You should know that your audio is clipping. Excitement is great, but try a peak limiter please.

What tips???? Like software, handheld operation, gimbal/tripod setup. Learned very little except some equipment names.
It's a Gitzo about $600 I used it when I did photography. Check out Amazon. amzn.to/4dbTRcy and for the Head use something like this: amzn.to/4epAKwJ I hope that helps

How many volts was your SAT box putting out? My SAT box also damaged my 9700. My CIV and CW ports no longer function because the trace for the ground burned up (CW and CIV pins share a common ground).
The SAT box didn't do it. The 9700 was affected by the lightning strike near me.

Radio is fixed and back and works great.
When you get the OPENGD77 on the Retevis you can hook it up to your tower and still work the FM Birds!

Yes and I had them at 20 feet and they work great. I do suggest getting pre amps to help.
