      CN bros were always wholesome, it's just that they were lumped together with the CN antis during the Taiwan incident, hell they were initially the ones who leaked the HoloCN traitors only for them to get harrassed because "Chinese = Bad", they literally risked being harassed by their own people to help only to get harrassed themselves by the people they tried to help, in the end they proved their loyalty by providing the document which pretty much exposed majority of the CN talents (and indirectly protected Spade and Yogiri by not mentioning them as part of the traitors)

    • @saika2023
      @saika2023 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MidTechiesEnjoyer As a Chinese Holo fan, thank you for your warm comments. However, Bilibili or the Chinese netizen as a whole has changed a lot in the past 10 years, even more so during the pandemic. The attempt to return to Bilibili, whether if it is just for the event or for long-term, is not a wise choice by Cover. The vtuber market on that platform is sinking since Hololive left. There was a few booms when Vox Akuma has a huge Chinese market, but that has also been gone for a while (even before when Selen got terminated this year).
      As for so-called return to Chinese market:
      Most of us who was on Coco and Hololives' side during Taiwan incident have access to TH-cam. Since TH-cam doesn't support CNY supas, most of us were sending supas in foreign currencies, and since most of the vtubers doesn't speak Chinese, we wrote comments in English and Japanese. That is the main reason why most of the oversea fans doesn't notice our existence. So my point is, the "Chinese market" is HERE on youtube. Hololive has NEVER left the Chinese market. They made a decision to move away from a toxic platform called Bilibili, and disbanded a group of vtubers that they CANNOT directly manage (also with half of they being traitors). Both decisions were to provide a better environment for BOTH the oversea viewers AND the Chinese viewers. Forcing the talents to go back to Bilibili is also a BETRAY to all of us, the Chinese fans who has supportted Cover and Hololive this far.
      Therefore, it doesn't matter whether if the CN bros are wholesome or not, there is absolutely no point for Cover to return to Bilibili. Won't make much money, much higher risk, hurts the feeling of both Taiwanese fans and Chinese fans.

    The issue is that this has been announced, people already knew weeks ago that matsuri and kobo were doing an event on bilibili, so people can complain about a supposed lack of transparency from cover but people are forgetting that the talents are allowed to accept invitations and bilibili probably approached cover to see who would be willing to join. And one last thing, matsuri was around at that point too, us fans were upset but the talents got it 99.99% worse than anyone else so if she is willing to do it im willing to trust kobo and matsuri's judgement.

      It doesn't matter that Kobo isn't Coco. Coco had a huge dedicated audience too. The concern is a repeat of last time which would mean innocent members of Hololive impacted, not just those directly involved. Not that having a protective fanbase would matter. The fanbase can't really control vile crap being posted to twitter tags, doxxing, and spamming their chat (even getting around features that protect you from that). I wonder why many "fans" from the West are cooking up this drama, even though in Asia or Indonesia this isn't really a problem, and in the last year Holo-ID has often played games from China when other members/branches didn't do so. Kobo is often watched by Chinese fans (from Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or the mainland) and interacts with them in Mandarin. and we in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, can access Bilibili without revealing personal identity because it only applies to mainland China. Kobo is quite popular among Mandarin speakers. So that's one way he can stream on Bilibili and attend big Bilibili events. If this is the case, we Indonesian fans will be "gatekeeping" kobo not only from Chinese antis whose existence is almost extinct, but from western antis who like to cook up unnecessary drama.

Not *every* person in the Chinese Market were okay with harassment that Hololive talents suffer and hot take, they shouldn't be punished for it. I am surprised by the many people who are ignorant about this. Kobo would not be allowed to do this without the approval of management. If she's part of a showing the with Matsuri then it is entirely a collab with BilliBilli and Cover to reestablish their relationship. Kobo and Matsuri are going to be the spokesperson for the union with them and this is something that Cover needs to establish the market in China. If it fails then BilliBilli could stand to lose everything with this collab. One thing people needs to remember that nothing gets done without Cover's approval and something like this can only happen when both businesses are in agreement.

    • @ruud9761
      @ruud9761 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +39

      Except that BilliBilli is not the only one who stands to lose something. Cover also has talents (and their wellbeing) on the line. Coco didn't graduate because of nothing. And as a business owner I can tell you that yes the Chinese market is fast and attractive, but Cover is by no means doing bad and by no means NEEDS to take this risk from what I know (which obviously isn't everything). Many businesses are moving out of China (and/or its market) simple because they are unreliable or not good partners/consumers. Personally I though Cover was doing the same. And didn't Cover disbanded their China branch as well?
      What I'm saying is that bridges were burned by Cover, the general viewers, and Chinese viewers/antis. We know Kobo and Matsuri had to have approval from Cover, if the request to join the event didn't even come from Cover themselves. If they want to rebuild these bridges, fine. But that doesn't mean people can't show concern. People got hurt by them in the past, livers got hurt. Businesses (BilliBilli and Cover) might agree to play nicely, but no such thing can be said or expected of the fans and the antis.

    • @randomunoriginalname
      @randomunoriginalname 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While yeah, Cover and management approved of this, it doesnt mean the fans cant be afraid of their countries diplomat walking into a active warzone where the diplomat and the country itself is against the country its walking into. Thats basically whats happening as of right now. The hololive fanbase as of right now is most probably double or triple in size unlike it was 2-3 years ago when Coco was active and just that 25% of us that was there when it happened is concerned because we know the consequences of stepping on one land mine for not only us but also the vtuber themselves. Our concern as fans is out of worry and appreciation not criticsm this is a big step on hololives case they essentially burnt down their whole chinese market (and chinese branch) and now if theyre trying to rebuild we dont know the consequences or how itll unfold. As a fan of that era of hololive you dont want to see your favorite orange dragon vtuber start breaking down in the middle of a stream only for Kanata her roommate to rush inside the room and hear her comfort her or have haachama blame herself for everything that had happened to Kaichou and break down on multiple streams. For Fubuki to be underfire and to have her fanbase halved just because she has a positive association with Kaichou. And so many more examples of it and its not even the worse part of the situation thats just a instance of it.
      Coco or now after graduating Kson is still blacklisted and gets chinese anti's come to attack her from time to time. (Kson has a clip of admitting that Nijisanji had her blacklisted from collabs because of the possibility that they have a large market in the Chinese side.) Plus is it bad to have concern when the pioneer for english vtubing the one who paved the path to connect the world of EN and JP an actual legit legend in the community deserving of a hall of fame spot had her and her whole companies careers almost fucked just cuz they referred to Taiwan as its own country. AND as someone in SEA (south eastern asia) THE BORDER CONFLICT WITH CHINA HAS PROGRESSED SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE POINT THEYVE BEEN CONSTANTLY IN THE WATERS TO AS FAR AS THE PHILIPPINES. THEYVE ALSO SURRONDED TAIWAN. Considering Kobo is Indonesian she'll understand the risk but at the same time the risk is also quite large and the pay off is a unreliable chinese market that can bite them in the ass.

    I like many in the comments was around when Kson (formerly kiryu coco) was going through the absolute torrent of harassment and hate the Chinese anti’s were sending her way, and remember how badly it quaked and rippled across the talents as a whole who even remotely stood by her through it (currently recalling a clip of Suisei having a stroke of genius mid stream and granting like, 12? Long time fans mod in her chat so they could wield ban hammers on the antis, had the whole issue in that stream sorted in minutes with her lightning response).
    I remember the tumultuous times that followed as TH-cam literally created an entire new system for chat management and moderation as a result, alongside (if I remember rightly) hololive themselves hiring moderators to actively patrol the chats and their social media presences.
    I also remember just how poorly their initial attempt to save face went, essentially leaving Coco out to try as patient 0 while trying to manoeuvre around and eventually choosing to axe wholesale the Chinese brand and all ties to that market.
    I was very vocal, and still am vocal, about the importance of making sure the talents come first and are treated fairly, and while holo have improved in this area vastly since the initial covid era boom, choosing to return to the Chinese market could be kicking another hornets nest. Sure, unlike the last time, we have a sting suit and brought a bug hoover with us to catch the hostile elements before they land any stings, it’s not a surefire guarantee, and I am worried that things might start turning for the worst again.
    This time though I have faith that Cover will be much better at handling any backlash or fallout, that much I have faith in.
    on the other hand, I'm sure that there are likely millions of Chinese fans who have had to suffer large official hololive drought due to the actions of a comparatively small number of their kinsmen committing these crimes of harassment, and truly feel for their plight in this manner. I mean, I know this isn’t the same for everyone, but if it wasn’t for the joy that the talents from hololive had brought to me over the last few years, I’m really not sure just how much worse my life would be right now. I’ve had a rough few years, but the joy I’ve had watching these girls streams, their clips, hearing their music and watching the AMV’s has really kept my head above water, and I’m sure it’s the case for the Chinese fans to.
    In sum, I am cautiously weary for what might come from this, but hopeful that no issues will arise, and that any that do will be quelled quickly and with force enough to keep the talents safe and shielded. Things are different now, there’s far more protections in place here on TH-cam, and if there is a proper agreement in the works between bilibili and Cover, there’s very likely to be a similar parity of care and protection afforded to the talents when they’re there too.
    For now, I am hopeful that this is just another step towards flourishing growth and success for Cover, Hololive, and all the talents involved!

      Yes, the Chinese viewers are the problem. They're raised in a repressive culture of hatred that tells them they're the superior Asian race and everything their country does is correct and justified, and any perceived slight, no matter how small, needs to be retaliated against. All Coco had done was refer to Taiwan as a country in passing, and they went ballistic, the Chinese branch of Hololive was closed like 3 days after starting because of Cover's capitulation to angry Chinese investors. Animators and artists refused to work with Vshojo again after Kson joined the organization as a continuation of their outrage.
      Beyond just the interwebz, China and Japan do not have a good relationship because China is trying to claim multiple Japanese territories belong to them, including Okinawa. Japan also intends to intervene to help Taiwan when/if China invadess them, so China has plans to attack them too.
      Indonesia has some similar disputes with China, who is seen as a threat to Indonesian sovereignty. China is claiming a huge section of Indonesia's North Natuna Sea belongs to them, and has disregarded international law and sent vessels to patrol the area and to steal fish.
      Given how Chinese "fans" have behaved in the past, it's not unreasonable to think that they will harass Kobo for being both with a Japanese company and Indonesian.

    many hololive fans are too worried, especially fans from the west. If you often watch Kobo's streams, you will often find fans from China interacting with Kobo via Superchat in Mandarin, Kobo can speak Mandarin even though she is not fluent. Maybe that's the reason Kobo streams on Bilibili because it already has a lot of fans in China, and on Bilibili there are also lots of Kobo clips in Mandarin. I don't know if western countries can access Bilibili or not, but in Indonesia you can access the platform and there is a "outside China" version, namely BStation for watching anime or Chinese animation. For us fans in Indonesia, this was very sudden because there was no announcement at all from Kobo or Hololive Indonesia official. But that worry disappeared after seeing Kobo's stream received a positive response from Chinese fans. and became a debutant bilibili streamer who was quite highlighted.

      1- Sayu's is parnership with Noa Talent, an agency from a company called Metishon, who also happen to had some ownership into BilliBilli as well and has a lot of connections with Hoyoverse for events and exclusive things.
      2- Metishon also acts as a direct middle management of Kobo's account on B2, as they offer themselves to be the one acting in case of problems against her (such as defemation or harassment).
      The only problem i have is, Metishon has been also under the microscope as their CEO use to be a rigger for a another company, whos Vtubers are basic 2 views and pretty much they are either inactive or retired. But this is more a concern for Sayu instead. I don't thing they won't think this one without a legal paper backing up just in case. Not overtly addressing this and just quietly moving to test the waters is exactly what everyone _should_ be expecting for this - because that's how things work with China when it comes to mentioning things that set them off. Trying to address the past will just come across like saying, _"We're moving past when the time when we compared the president to Winnie the Pooh"_ - which is ultimately just immediately reigniting the whole thing all over again and also guaranteeing the worst possible outcome by bringing attention to it.
    Both Kobo & Matsuri being there represent ID & JP respectively, so there's clearly a motivation to it that's also making sure no one is just explicitly nationally isolated in that representation and there's a unified presence. The fact of the matter is that we don't *_know_* anything about what's going on with the individual interest or business relationships that are motivating those decisions, so no one's really in a position to make an informed opinion on this more than the people who are directly involved in doing it - and as I pointed out, the EXPECTATION is that they aren't going to overtly comment on it, because that's the best thing to do at this point to make an accurate neutral assessment of the environment there currently.
    As such, it IS still worth being hesitant given the past history, but ultimately being supportive of the talents taking what we all know are difficult steps that they can't be as open about as they'd like to be - and remembering that _you don't ever get the opportunity to positively influence people or environments without actually being there._ China makes that exponentially more difficult than basically anywhere else for this type of thing, and as such those impacts can have a bigger positive influence if they're allowed to do so and can do that safely.
    From a corporate perspective, it's also worth remembering that Niji is there and that they still are a real competitor in the space despite how the West views them for their extremely harsh treatment of talent amongst a laundry list of other things. The last thing anyone wants is for Niji to end up being hyper successful by doubling down on its restrictive & abusive policies because doing that enables them to access a massive audience (and thus a revenue source) that it can completely shut Cover out of, and reach a point where it can just out-compete by out spending. (Anyone paying attention to VTubing interactions with the NBA & MLB will know that that's definitely still something that's happening). It's difficult to communicate just how much more power corporate entities have and how much of an impact they make in Japan and how that can be positive OR negative.
    Moreso than anything, I just also wanted to include the reminder that Fubuki is the constant barometer for things in HoloLive in general, but _especially_ when it comes to THIS and Cover's history dealing with it. If she's not shaken by what's going on - trust that she knows everything about it more than anyone else externally. So long as she's there, trust in HoloLive and remember that at least at Cover we know that they'll actually have the support of those around them if things get sketchy (unlike some other places).

    There's a lot of questions to be had. From what little I remember seeing, it looked like B2 were the ones to reach out to Cover, but rules were set up to avoid a repeat incident. I don't know how you can get around the whole "don't mention Taiwan," since I expect that will be held up by B2 outside of their platform because of the whole nationalism thing. But otherwise, it sounds like B2 is at least implying they'll assist with dealing with antis as well.
    Like was said, there's no way I am forgetting the anti campaign. I doubt I'll forgive it, either, because that's a level of petty that should be eradicated, but if the talents understand it and are willing to take the step, good for them. It's not different than the rest of the antis except for volume if it does blow up, and there's plenty of ways to still deal with it.
    Doesn't sound like Cover was obligated to make an announcement for what sounds like Kobo and like 2 others who bothered to accept streaming to B2, so...there's that. As long as their content doesn't change and they're walking on eggshells, then cool. We're just along for the ride. Can only hope it remains a good one.

    The people that are trying to downplay this were probably not around when the Coco situation happened a couple of years back. It was bad. Really, really, really bad. Cover had to suspend Hachaama and Coco not out of any sort of punishment, but to protect them in a vain attempt to get the heat off of them. But it didn't work. A lot of the talent got harassed so badly, with Coco and Fubuki getting the worst of it. Even after Coco left Fubuki was still a target, and others became targets when collabing with them. Hell, for several months chats were stuck in either subscriber only or member only chats, and they weren't even being displayed on screen.
    I honestly think this incident is why it took so long for Coco to collab with the EN talents. We lost months of great content because of it.
    So for the fans that were around back then, who are seeing this now, are right to be concerned. Because seven talents were lost thanks to that incident. The hope is that Cover has learned the right lessons from it and are prepared to pull out at a moments notice, assuming this will be more frequent. And I have hope in the rumor that Bilibili had to make concessions to Cover just to get them to return in some fashion.
    Though I'm concerned about the EN talent and if they'll be forced to stream on it. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to get Gura, but I hope the Myth girls at the very least remember what happened and have enough pull to veto it.
