Cap'n - Just made one of these parting tools with a cherry handle. Minor modification, I routed out the inside of both halves on the table saw to embed the blade and used 1/4 inch brass pins instead of screws. All materials were on hand so I saved a little dough. Thanks for the great ideas! I hope you continue your great service to the wood turning community!

WOW, I just made one of these and does it ever work. Mine is not as sexy as yours w/ the Cocobolo but mine was 100% free. Old dead blade that has already paid for itself w/ its original purpose and some screws and sleeve nuts left over from some cabinets I bought some time ago and some scrap select pine. This was a test. I have a slimmer demo blade and know that I know it will work for me I will make another one w/ that blade. Seems like one of those 'cant haveto many' tools. Thanks Eddie!

Thanks Captain Eddie! I made one out of a high speed steel hack saw blade but didn't want to spend 30 dollars on a drill bit. Now I know what to do.

Ayup Cap' Eddie, Your Parting Tool is the DUCK'S NUTS mate. I've eventually plugged in my small lathe today that I got for Christmas! Been waiting for tools, the parting tool didn't look that big when I ordered it! Its 1/4" wide it wastes loads of timber because I haven't yet got a chuck, so your 1/16" Parting Tool would be ideal. You're a Top Bloke. Take care.
    Cheers
    Andy

You inspired me to make one, and I love it! I had a couple of scrap Cocobolo pieces that made a sweet handle. Thanks, and Best Wishes!

Doesn't mean I have to answer it. Brave, not stupid! A real fine line.

I reseated Death Valley, The Tiger stadium in 1980's, 1984 or so. Bob Broadhead had us put in untested purple and gold seats which turned olive drab and yellow before the year was over.
That was a very good year.

Good idea,s Eddie. I made one using dull thickness planer blades from my delta planer. Marking knife is next. Good HSS in the blades.

Great tool, thanks Capt. BTW, the DW4865 appears to have been replaced by DWA4179.

One small caveat. Bi metal blades are made with carbon steel with a very thin strip of tool steel for the teeth. Beware removing the teeth, the tool steel strip is very thin. Once you remove the teeth you have a scant 1/16th. Also beware when sharpening.

Remove the paint first so you can see where the tool steel stops.
