Thanks cap'n. I always learn something new and have a good laugh when I watch your videos. So glad that you're back on your feet and feelin ornery again.
Thank You. Captain Eddie your videos are very well done , informative with some humor to keep it interesting , and you make pens for the troops even after all the time you spend sharing your know how with the rest of us. You are very appreciated, I also enjoy your web site with all the sharing information, I find it all to be very generous of you. Thanks.
I like the idea and the way you sharpen your skew chisels. I haven't had much luck with the skew but I am definetely going to try your way to see if it will help. I do love the finish you can get with the skew and I really do like using it.
Nice video, I am slowly getting used to the skew chisel, and videos like your really helps a lot.Today a friend of mine sharpened my chisels for me, he has a Robert Sorbet sharpening system. Greetings from the UK. Cool accent by the way. :-)
Hi Captain Eddie Thanks to both you and Eli Avisera (SIC?) for the convex bevel idea, Went out to the shop and ground a half inch skew to a convex shape . Its significantly less snarkey to use. I am going to a convex grind on all my skews.
Thanks for the tip, Cap'n Eddie. I've never had much luck using the skew - probably because of the way it's ground and because I grind it following its original profile; but I'm going to try this method and persevere with mine. They are useful if you can master them and this will help me do that, I'm sure. Thanks and all the very best. Derek.
I enjoyed your video as I always do. I have a question Captain Eddie, I want to know if there is a way to sharpen the RAIL and STILE Cutter I use for making raised Panel Cabinet doors. William Wallace
I do something similar, but instead of using the grinder, I use a 100 grit self adhesive sanding disc, stuck on a piece of flat wood and mounted on a faceplate. That gives me a bit more room if I'm sharpening a wide skew.
Just found this one, maybe this beginner will have the courage to purchase a skew now. (And I'm still grinning at the end-title voiceover.) What editing software do you use?
Thanks for your help. I am 80% blind, so everything I do I have to depend on feel. Can you tell me how to sharpen correctly if I only have my finger to guide me. I am not asking you to blind fold yourself, but how do I know if I am at the correct angle. Thank you, William
Thanks cap'n.

Thanks cap'n really helpful to a newbie to turning and really informative / entertaining presentation. thanks for posting. subscribed.
You could also use that thin plastic wrap that you use in the kitchen for your remote controls
great philosophy of sharpening, totally makes sense
Thank You Capn Eddie, that was a super tutorial.

You my friend are indeed THE MAN !!!
Sure is. It cuts as a shear, sharpen the flats without touching the edges or flutes.
