    Thanks for a great video. Well documented and to the point. It gave me the confidence to buy the same unit, which I just did. I plan to use it in the attic. I already have an older Frigidaire dehumidifier, and it has been in use since 2019 without a glitch. It is a solid brand.

    I ended up purchasing model FFAD5033W1 from Bj’s for $219. Frigidaire recommends running continuous setting for the first 3 to 4 days until the sweating and dampness odors has stopped.

    Since this unit was a warranty replacement of the 70 pint, what happened to the 70 pint? Typically, what part breaks down if you run these units continuously? It seems these dehumidifiers are often replace after a few years.

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know for certain but I believe the refrigerant slowly escapes over time. Since the units are sealed, they can't be recharged with refrigerant like an automotive a/c system

    How do you auto drain? Is it just a standard garden hose or does it require more fittings?

  • @barbaragilin2905
    @barbaragilin2905 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The instructions are very confusing in terms of what to do with the small white "pump drain" hose that comes with the 50 pint unit. It is easy to connect the garden hose to the left side of the back of the unit for drainage. The "pump drain" is supposed to connect somehow to the outlet on the right side of the rear of the unit but it is impossible to figure out how to do that. Is that pump drain necessary for continuous drainage, to your knowledge? If so, do you have any tips?

    This is the unit Fridgidaire is sending everyone to replace the older and very well rated FFAD7033R1 70 Pint unit which typically sees a total system failure after only 2 years. The difference in quality inside and out between this current 50pt unit and the older 70pt one is stunning, favoring the older unit. The styling of the older model is also much better, with air discharged from the side rather than through the top of the unit, and light gray panels instead of black. Although they replaced my 70pt with the 50pt under warranty, I purchased an Actic King WDP50AE1IN-P 50pt for $100 less and I like it much better. After significant problem getting in touch with Frigidaire both by phone and by email, and replacement with an inferior unit, I dont trust the company.

    The best thing you can do is purchase the extended warranty when buying these units. Although most reviews on dehumidifier say this brand is the best I can tell you that I have now had to replace four of these dehumidifier. Three were still under the one year warranty and and the other was just over the one year warranty. I don't know why the government does do a better job regulating all products that require proper disposal of refrigerants and maybe that would force these companies to build better quality items

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment, I understand where you are coming from however I have to mostly disagree even though I've had the same experience. These units are absolute JUNK. I feel the best thing we can do as consumers is stop buying these units that are all made in the same factory regardless of brand and sold by big box stores. If these companies loose enough business they'll get the message and start building things that last. Buying an extended warranty on a unit that is destined to fail in a year is a waste of resources and time. I'd rather spend the extra money on a better built unit that will last 10-15 years than plan on replacing my unit every 1 to 2 years. I'd also rather not have the government regulating what I can or cannot buy. It might fix the problem in the short term but in the long run it will limit consumer choice and competition in the industry and end up costing the consumer more.

    • @davidwiser3883
      @davidwiser3883 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SevenFortyOneI agree that government regulations on product sold is not the best answer but feel but would welcome regulation to keep these companies from selling this only these sort of product in the first place. If I could find a better alternative I would pay the extra price for it even if I had to pay three times more for something that would last.

      I've had two of the Frigidaire models one failed after 13 months the other after 14 months and I bought the extended warranty. The extended warranty made no difference at all. I submitted all the necessary paperwork and Frigidaire/Electrolux just gives me the run around. Definitely a No Buy and especially don't go with an extended warranty. Very dishonorable company in my opinion.

    • @davidwiser3883
      @davidwiser3883 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dkin5661 My extended warranties were purchased from a third-party service. I bought all my dehumidifiers online through Amazon and Walmart and purchased the warranties those sites offered. I would never bought an extended warranty from Frigidaire for the very reason you experienced. Sorry to hear that. Both insurance companies settled the claims immediately and sent me a check for the purchase cost. Only out of pocket cost was the I had to buy a new warranty for the replaced dehumidifier.

    Nice video I have a question with using the hose does the water go directly to the hose or does the tank fill then at a certain level makes it’s way out the hose ? Also, is the Continuous Mode needed for the hose to work or it doesn’t matter ? Can you set it at like 45% and it will drain out hose and then shut off when it hits 45%. ? The manual instructions are terrible

    • @SevenFortyOne

      Are you sure you have a model with a pump? Mine is gravity feed so the end of the house has to be lower than the drain to empty

    Only lasted 12 months, 2 weeks for $274.Spent hours on phone trying to get a replacement. Frigidaire stated that since I bought it on Amazon, the seller wasn't an authorized dealer and the seller had to take care of it as Frigidaire had no responsibility for their product. Amazon said it was over warranty as warranty was only a year and couldn't do anything. I called Frigidaire back and they said again that it wasn't their responsibility as the seller wasn't an authorized seller. Again, not standing behind their product and the Frigidaire agent got really argumentative and hung up. Buy at your own risk. This is my fourth Frigidaire and none of them have lasted over 2 years.

    I was sent this unit as a replacement for the 70 pint unit. After 3 months it died. I truly believe Frigidaire knows the replacement is junk and that’s why they are dumping them off as a replacement.

    My 50 pint Dehumidifier with Wifi had an EC error and Frigidaire refused to replace it since I bought it from "Woot" and Woot wasn't an authorized reseller. Woot was on my Amazon invoice when I had bought it from the Frigidaire store (my order history takes me there). Woot is 100% owned by Amazon. Not inclined to ever support Frigidaire or any subsidiary or parent or parent's subsidiary again. If they are going to play subsidiary games with my product support so am I with my business.
