Fallout 4 did factions kind of weird. If you steal something in front of someone you’re instantly an enemy and you can’t fix it. While in fnv you could fix it and get wild child or any other neutral type of rep

I think that the game would have been fine had they focused on implementing the things from previous games we enjoyed IE. Stats that go to 100, Karma, an in-depth ending describing all of our small accomplishments. When you use a foundation to create very amazing games, and then you try something new out of the blue. Bethesda shouldn’t have been too surprised that people still prefer the older, more in-depth games. Just my opinion tho.

Karma only really affects the ending sequence in fallout nv, which i dont mind because it had a decent reputation system. You are correct, that's partially why it's so replayable.

I tend to avoid choice-heavy games, but I still have MASS respect for them. I LOVE reputation systems, though.

Excellent yapping, very good point. It makes the game world feel more responsive to your actions, because it is. And great for replayability sake as well.
Its funny you mention the games you did, ive played all besides mass effect series and knights, but my brothers were big into those and thought id like them. There are formulas for greatness for sure.
Give me one more fking server ran game with micro transactions from a main developer and im gonna pop though, already going back to some games from previous generation that are similar and have fallen off in popularity, become unplayable or will literally be unplayable one day. I had so much fun with destiny when it first came out for example, but the dlc just kept coming out and cost more and more rather than being free updates with some kind of payed skins even. Ffs nobody will be able to enjoy playing the original destiny or fallout 76 like we can with classic halo ce or something.

i think this new generation of devs are just trash. they know that something so indepth needs alot of effort and needs to be done correctly...and they dont want to commit to that or something so in depth as a repuation system thats on the level of FNV...the real nerds that made all those awesome games in the past like mass effect and FNV and old GOW games aint majority anymore in the gaming industry...i think thats why alot of games suck nowadays...i also think the priorities of these companies are all screwed up...the love aint there anymore..

I think the devs are there for sure, theres always passion in people. The issue is that as with anything and everything its becoming more and more corporate, focused on being something that pulls in money consistently. Whether thats through subscriptions or paid dlc, paid online access, that kind of thing. Games have been a business for a long time now, however its only more recently in the last ten or so years that perhaps priority has switched, maybe its the people at the top making decisions etc. perhaps as a result of merging of so many companies. Goals and motivations for making something and the creativity that follows restriction or freedom of working on a project that everyone wants to make into something they all enjoy are lost when there isnt room for them, and there are constant deadlines and profit margins or etc. to be honest im absolutely talking out of my ass but this is my perspective. It feels like it used to be a little more hands on or involved through the whole companies, making something more cohesively. Whereas with multiple companies or people in different places/ departments without knowledge of the other areas of development, theres no clear end goal in mind.
I suppose my point is, if there is fault on the developers parts, i feel its more so due to the system as a whole. Theres no bad dogs, kind of thing. I think people pursue a career in game development because theyre passionate about games

The only good games will come from lone auteurs from now on. That's just the sad truth of it.
