    Quick note:
    I realized I forgot to install the Stop Rods on the pedals, which can lead to misjudging the deadzone area. While I believe the software should include calibration options to address such issues, this situation highlights a potential problem for users. I've conducted testing in the past and never encountered anything similar, so this seems like an isolated case caused by my oversight. However, this raises an important concern: if this can happen to an experienced user like me, it’s even more likely to confuse first-time users.
    I firmly believe that highlighting this step as a critical part of the unboxing process is absolutely necessary.

      @@Chickendip Very true - and a mistake like this is much more likely to happen for "experienced user" who thinks he knows what he is doing and overlooks manuals. 20 years in tech and home appliances aftersales has tought me more than anything else to read manuals.

    Great review. I got mine as a Christmas present from wife and I love it! Coming from T150 and T300. Had the T150 for a year and a half and the T300 for only 2 months and returned due to overheating issue. T598 is a night and day compared to those. Can't wait for GT7 to have 100% integration and TM drop a few more updates down the road. Only race in GT7 and online and after 30 min of use, I shaved .200's from by best time in daily C with a lot to improve.

      Hi! I´m planning to get a T598 wheel base only, whenever is available in the market during 2025. I´m running a T150 with a 3TPA-Pro pedals that I´m planning to keep. As is, would you describe a little bit of those differences between the T598 and T150? I´m also racing in GT7 only. Thanks!

I enjoyed the Thrustmaster ecosystem but oddly I found the Logitech G29 to have a superior build quality and was far more reliable. I’ve had a G29 for 6 years and it has never failed. -Pedal deadzone? User error. Read the manual. You forgot the pin.
    - overheating? Never had that. Mine gets to about 45 degrees, no degration in performance. Makes me believe you have not ajusted the settings as recommended by Thrustmaster for gt7. Mine is at 100% and extreme played over 4 hours at a time.
    -once the wheel gets fully supported by gt7 it will be even better. It is now capped by the blue mode and false profile. Ok, they should have made it fully supported at release.
    -base is huge, indeed

      This is not a user error, the video you provided shows exactly the same scenario that I used in my testing.

      @Chickendip 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    • @DigitRacingDG
      @DigitRacingDG  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Your driver rating has a significant difference when making a review.
      Without knowing how to drive properly can significantly impact your judgement of what the product is capable of.
      I can say it's good or bad, but what is the real value behind that statement?
      That's why it's very important to test equipment in competitive conditions, otherwise you can play on the controller and don't even think about some of the issues mentioned.
      But I'm still trying to find what you are indicating with the deadzone issue. I compared the two photos and I still can't see any difference.
      Also, I asked TM about this issue and they haven't given me any additional instructions, which again indicates everything is fine with my installation.

    • @Chickendip
      @Chickendip 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      @@DigitRacingDG driver rating says nothing about these problems or errors I don't have. Not overheating has nothing to do with my rating. Could be a defective unit you have. When you read the manual about assembling the pedals you see that there are 2 pins to be inserted through the side next to the hinge. You can see in your video you didn't do that.

    • @DigitRacingDG
      @DigitRacingDG  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Chickendip You mentioned "no degradation in performance" and that's the reason I'm asking. Maybe your in-game setting are lower than mine, maybe there is something else that I don't know about. That's why the question about your driver rating, which again you don't want to share.
      But okay, now I see the 2 pins, I have to mention this for future users.

    I use it since 5 weeks in GT78 only and i like it! I only play with PSVR2 so the height is not a problem for me. The mounting adapter is nice and i also only use two screws on my sim cockpit but its very solid. The mounting adapter has the benefit that it gives you the needed angle! The oscilation was never a problem for me, its a small minus point but i dont care if i am honest. The wheel itself feels cheap and the buttons sometimes dont react but i am glad the wheel is cheap because that dropped the price to 499 Euros. I could upgrade to lets say the hypercar wheel anytime if i want. Yes the base gets hot but so far it has not influenced my driving. I had the T300RS before and this T598 feels much better and more quality. My brother has the Fanatec GT DD pro 8nm, its also nice, better base quality, the wheels itself is plastic as well but feels a bit better, however paddle shifters are plastic. The GT DD Pro base is really heavy, so you need a good and solid sim cockpit otherwise you will get flex, i think the T598 can also go with cheaper sim cockpits without flex. I have my wheel alot higher paced compared to the position in this video and yes it will block the screen if you use a TV etc. If you use a special monitor you can install it a bit higher, however since i only use the VR headstrap its a non issue for me. The quick release is working good, its reinforced plastic, i guess like in modern pistols, so its good but not CNC machined stuff like in fanatec products, so its functional but its not pleasing for the eye like fanatec, so is the base. Its heavy and its i guess cast metal but not cnc machined aluminium like the GT DD Pro.

      How is the constant torque in T598 vs DD Pro 8nm? This is by far the biggest question I have with T598. T598 claims 5nm+overshoot and I guess Dd Pro 8nm in 8nm PEAK? Does T598 compare to 5nm or 8nm fanatec? These Nm are as useless as comparing basic speakers by wattage..😂 If you take a high downforce car through a long fast turn or accelerate out of turn how is the constant torque representing the grip/self alligning of the tires? You are in an unique position to test this that every reviewer so far seem to have failed, if you have access to both t598 and fanatec 8nm - thank you!😊
      Im not really interested in comparison between t598 and DD+, as those are supposed to be at very different level. You can buy two of t598s with the price of DD+ base only..😂

    The wheelbase can be mounted onto an NLR FGT with 4 bolts when using the included adapter, I was also able to mount the pedals with 4 bolts (I did not have to do any drilling). Currently, the biggest issue with the T598 is compatibility, especially on PC (other than ACC, where it shines). I also have a G923 (had the G29 before that) and the T598 is a significant step up, other than plug-n-play capability. TM released this wheel before the software side was ready, hopefully they can improve it quickly.

      Omg, How many people will watch this video and be deceived. How many of them are in the comments.
      Thrasmaster is blatantly lying. The reason why preference is given to bases with real Direct Drive is their responsiveness, speed and accuracy of FF. This half-truth from the Thrasmaster about how this base is something similar to a real DD is simply a shame.
      This lie is aimed at people who have no experience playing with a real DD. Do not fall for this shameless lie. This kit has nothing in common with a real DD, except for the deceptive name. It is the same belt base as old Thrastmaster bases.
      Author should be ashamed of such a positive assessment of a frankly bad and misleading product. You will be ashamed of this video in the future, when the truth is revealed.
      Do not fall for this lie. If you really need it, take the DD PRO Fanatec. Even a Moza R5 with an adapter will be much better than this garbage. In addition to all this, it still heats up and the manufacturer recommends to lower the FF, which already has near to zero power.
      Show yourself people who have experience using real DD and who tried to play on this base. Just express your opinion. There are none. Go through the comments and you will not find a single positive comment from people who have experience playing on real DD bases. Only those who have not had such experience.
      Be reasonable.

    Great review with professional approach. The wheel is worth to consider as a good contender vs other expensive rigs. But is it better than TGT2 servo base equipped with light wheel like TM open wheel or Ferrari 488 GT3 rim, both light and functional, paired with TCLM pedals could be better option especially bcos it would be only slightly more expensive. The question is.Can belt driven wheel paired with light wheel rim overcome direct drive wheel or at least match the performance of newer technology, it has also more adittional features like transducer etc which gives more immersive experiance in VR. And finally is the DDpro or DDplus that much better or it is more like, the more you use certain thing the more you get use to it.

      hi ive had a TGT since launch in 2017 never had any problems and only gets luke warm even after 3hrs play now i was going to get the T598 base only when available next year however im now not so sure as i have read in quite a few places that if you have a tgt 1 or tgt 2 you might be somewhat disappointed by the lite feel of the t598 some say tgt 2 gives a far better feel of force feedback and is very smoothe even thou belt driven so i am going to get a TGT 2 base instead of the T598 as im not convinced that its far better than the TGT 2 wheel !! being i already have other thrustmaster wheels and load cell pedals already im going to buy just the TGT2 wheel base which is around £350 to £400 mark !! I would certainly say that you cannot beat the TGT 2 with the special effects of the built in transducer for playing GT7 !!

      @tb6539 yeah, i also have TCLM manipulators, with 2 custom wheels, i am using the lightest one which is significantly lighter. The differences are quite big. Orginal TGT2 wheel rim 2.5kg, mass located inside but also on outer parts of the rim, the sparcos are around 1.5kg, the ferrari 488 gt3 which has a lot of buttons and is nice around 1.15kg, the open wheel TM 0.85kg. So there is a lot of different configurations. This does not apply directly to direct drive as a same value, in DD you can simply increse nm strength, and there should be no lag, but for belt drive more mass equals higher inertia of the wheel rim that influe the elastic nature of the belt, so the delay or lag occurs. Also you wouldnt be able to use the wheel at macimum strength, is simply undrivable. Most likey 40-50% is enough. But this applies also to other people so have T300 etc they could use less force etc. Even if it has vibrations, transducer and other features it is still not direct drive, therefore configuration like DDpro or DDPlus with formula 2.5 might be supperior in pure speed or regularity in lap time

      @@maveric19871 hi thanks for your reply i use the sparco rally wheel on my tgt i dont feel any lag or any difference in the force feedback i play mostly EA wrc rally game so therefore i have the wheel fairly light as they do in real wrc cars they have the steering light so they can make ultra fast corrections on the wheel its so light that they can take the wheel off and still turn the wheels just using their hand on the steering column for instance in my force feedback settings in game i have the SAT at around 40 to 45 so im not using no where near its full strength .I often read how gamers / sim racers have their wheels right up high all you will be doing is wrestling the wheel and loosing stage / lap times !! With my settings i can feel oversteer / understeer weight transfer etc and i always use cockpit view for real immersion its down to each persons own choice but bonnet view is not realistic or immersive its arcade , you will be faster in bonnet view as you can see more and the force feedback is somewhat toned down ? rally drivers do not sit in the middle of the rally car looking out over the centre of the bonnet !! same as in F1 titles lots of gamers use the tv pod view which is what you see in replays on tv or in the actual race if you use cockpit mode its more realistic !!

      @@tb6539 sparco rally is one of tbe largest available rim reaching 33cm in diameter. It has possibly the least performance due to higher mass and mass location (the rotational forces, torque that has to move object moved father from central point). But also might give the best experiancr in immersion for games like CityBus, Eurotrack simulator2, Pedal to the metal etc. Honestly nowadays is really hard to get one, but having it especially for non racing games would be fantastic, also rally game like Dirt 2.0 must be plausible

    I think I got better luck with pedals than you, no such deadzone for me. Or I just can't recognize it. Also lucky for me that I'm weak enough for the wheel, having it 4 in Gt7 is enough for me. It feels improvement from t300. But I don't like the shaking while driving straight. Another complaint is the lower right button combo, which cannot be configured.

  • @EAX-n5n
    @EAX-n5n 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Jeez... in all honesty but there is absolutely no excuse for a 500$/€ device, that it ships with deadzones in the pedals. Literally reminds me about Thrustmaster T300 RS GT, 350€ device and the same play in pedals and lackluster feedback. Theres a point where the quality of a device is so damn bad, that you dont even want it for free and thats literally Thrustmaster right here.
    If you can afford 500€ for a trash product, then you should easily be able to afford a Fanatec for 750€ and get that proper quality you actually pay for and deserve for the money you spent.
    If that Thrustmaster was like a 100$ product ok fine but 500 already and you get what exactly for this much money? In such a case you are clearly better off with no device at all because sth like that will ruin your joy with ease entirely.

    Good review, but looking so many reviews on TH-cam looks like every reviewer has the same opinion about this wheel. I think I’ll stick to my TGT II + LCM pedals because it definitely has more torque and detail than what I assume the T598 is lacking from.

      @forbidden76 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes TGT II all day for me as well. I tried the T598 at a friends and wasn't impressed. Something felt off in GT7 VR. If you look at price point the T598 is actually a downgrade of a TGT II. I think peeps get caught up in all the Direct Drive marketing jargon. You can feel the road so much better in the TGT II. With T598 I felt like I was only racing by my eyes and not the feel of the road like I do on my TGT II.

      @ great answer man, thank you for your feedback. TM needs to step up the game with a better option at least for console users. I was totally expecting something similar or in the range of the T818 for console but I guess they are not ready for it or don’t feel the need for it. I really enjoy my TGT II which is basically plug and play with almost every game I tried it on.

    What about the horrible button mapping? Not to say that some buttons are on the base itself? And the pedal tray that’s just too small if you want to add a clutch pedal afterwords… In my opinion you went light with the down sides… I feel you have to make a lot of compromises if you buy this wheel. When I compare it to my DD Pro, yes it’s 200$ more but I feel it’s well worth the difference in the long run. Practicality of installation, very compact base not getting in the way of the screen or legs, no heating issues, easy to upgrade the in the future (pedals or wheel), perfect mapping of the buttons on the wheel (at least with GT7), wheel not oscillating al the time… I personally think all of this is well worth the 200.-.

    Its the worst wheelbase ove ever gotten to test in the dd realm. Also dont think about using any other thrustmaster wheels with it just denolishes the wheelbase. Even way more compared to other 5 to 8nm wheelbases. It turns it into what feels like a 2nm wheelbase. Smooth is great for sure but this frictionless axial flux motor imo shouldnt be used for sim racing. Way to many flaws come with this motor and is why others havent used it. Its a cheaper solution in smaller form and well this wheelbase is a weak weak 5nm wheelbase that cant stand up to any weight with a wheel. People think they made the wheel that light and cheap just to be cheap. No its because it sucks without it and even with it isnt great.
