Listened to this when I was fifteen. I'm twenty-four now. This song shakes me to my very core listening to it after so many years. I made a promise to myself that I would be a psychologist sometime that year I first heard this song. I'm almost there. Thank you for reading this, whoever you are. Bless you, and may you be safe from the pandemic we're currently facing.
oh, damn... I know how you feel, I know how it feels to lose someone you love... think of it this way: she's ok now, now she finally can have the rest she, I'm sure, she deserved... If you ever feel down because of this (wich I'm almost certain you will at some point), remember, everything is going to be alright, keep your head up, face everything that comes head-on, and, if you ever feel like you don't have anyone, you are free to talk to me, I'm always here to help. Well, take care, will ya? And, hey, everything is going to end alright ;) - Ian
personally i think owl city has to be my favorite band because the way he can make the song sound so happy it just makes me happy. its hard for artists to get the feelings across to the song and he seams like he has such a happy take on life i think we should look at the world like that.
"Reality is a lovely place but I wouldn't want to live there." Such a true statement at times, guess its Adam and his clever songwriting at work again :D
I have to admit that I relate to these songs so well, and a lot of them describe my life. I'd like to add that whenever he writes something depressing, he always comes back to the bright side of things, and that's what I love. Does anyone else just feel like Adam has that way to his music, that he just writes this music about all this dark and depressing stuff, but it makes you feel alright because he just wants you to know that you're not alone? It's like as if he genuinely cares about you, you know?
This is one of my favorite songs because of the imagery, I can just close my eyes and imagine the lyrics come to life, and all my troubles and worries disappear.. :) I'm so glad that I found Adam's music and it makes me happy to watch his growth. Can't wait for the newest album woooooot!!

All Things Bright and Beautiful was a good album, and had some standout songs like "The Real World," and "Deer in the Headlights." I also liked "Galaxies," and "Dreams Don't Turn to Dust." That being said I prefer the Ocean Eyes album or The Midsummer Station. I just felt that overall their songs were better. Adam did a great job of spreading out some of his most beautiful pieces so that each album had standout masterpieces. Plus I love the cover art Owl City uses for their CD's! Yes, I still buy CD's lol!
I still get shaken after listening to this song. It's my favorite song, and you're too good at making good music. I wouldn't get through life without you, having to figure out how to pay for college, and find a career path, it's so overwhelming! "If we dissolved without a trace" really shakes me particularly. You're the only reason I'm getting through life right now. :D This is why I like sim racing/gaming, it gets me out of the Real World and gives me some time to just enjoy life.
+CakeOfMischief13 yeah but when you get older some times your hart gets older as well so you wont be a child at hart so no imagination I feel bad for those people
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It paints such a vivid and gorgeous picture in my mind of an incredible fantasy world. I don't have a favorite song, but this is in my top 5 for sure! Thank you for blessing so many hearts like mine with your gorgeous music, Adam.
So I've known this song since it came out but for some reason it keeps showing up again in my recommended. I feel like the universe needs to let me have this moment. I'll hit play now. Sending love to anyone who this song means the world to like myself.

they are full of metaphors, and they are riddles, and everyone understands it differently, but no ones wrong...thats one of the millions of things that makes me freaking love owl city
I get nostalgic, it reminds me of a weird friend in 5th grade. He was just different, he invited the entire class of 25 or so students to his birthday slumber party. I would describe him as somewhat of a guru with selective views of authority. There are loads of comments about personal feelings and what not, and they aren't very entertaining to read, but for me, it just refreshes my memory. Giving it electronic immortality helps ease my brain as well.
I think this songs means that the real world isnt what it all seems. The world may be fucked up now but eventually we will overcome it and find a way to make this world better. We always do
I love this song, and I love how he used the melody from his old song "Aerial Promenade" from his old side project "Seagull Orchestra". Amazing work and references
I like this song a lot. Not just because it sounds AMAZING, but because the line "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't wanna live there" reminds me of the situation I've been dealing with ever sense I was like, 4.

Reality is a lovely place but I wouldn't want to live there. This line is actually me, I don't want to live in reality, I want to live in a fantasy world where my thoughts can be my thoughts without seeming weird, I don't have to deal with bullies and things. But as of now, I have to deal with this.

" Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't wanna live there." This describes the feeling I get everyday, I daydream my way out things so I won't be upset at the world and what it has become. I play video games and listen to music to much to escape from the feeling that the world in my head will never become a reality. I try to make sure it doesn't get to me, but it always finds a way. Getting bad grades because I couldn't focus in class, sleeping to much, not wanting to get up in the morning, being alone. My imagination is the only way out of all of the stress in life. Songs like these are hard to find, but easy to get lost in.

Yes, completely, it's like some kinda of musics people stop listening to them a month or two after it airs, but Owl City songs don't, they are always special to me! I'm never shy to say that my favourite song was aired on 2009, it was sung by Owl City and it's beautiful :)
Gracias Adam. Gracias Owl City.
I listened to this song during my first year of Medical school, those initial months were really lonely and painful, but this song worked like a charm/drug to help me through it. It just takes anyone who listens on a trip which no recreational drug can do! It just makes me forget the reality whenever I listen to it. This man must be a genius.
How can people hear this song and not think he's an INFP?! He's so INFP it hurts. I'm an INFP and I can relate to every one of his songs. Anyways, he's the best! :)
McBandit Hope INFP... It's one of the results one can get when they take the Myers-Briggs personality test. You answer like 200 questions and get a result based on what end of the spectrum you fall on. A lot of high schools make you take the test to see what career you might like to go in to and whatnot. INFP stands for "Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving". People who get that result are called the "dreamers" of the spectrum.
Why is Adam the only one who can use a cliche like "fire and ice collide" and it actually works perfectly and doesn't sound basic or pretentious? The reason I love his music so much was I thought that the wonderful world in his heart only existed in mine and was so stupid to even hope for...and I've never been more glad to be wrong...😌
One time we had an assignment in painting class to interpret a poem of some sort... so I figured a song is a poem and I went for this song. My teacher just read the lyrics and condemned it, saying something like "I mean it's just talking about the usual things you see in the fall. Pick something less literal." I knew she was wrong, but I can't really explain myself too well all the time, so I just let it go. Sure the song mentions autumn leaves and feathers and the trees turning colors... but it's not about those things in a general sense. It's about seeing the world with childlike wonder and seeing the magic in what many pass off as everyday and mundane. Transcending beyond what's simply there (reality) and looking beneath the surface (or at the surface in a new way) to see the things no one else notices. It's about trying to capture and explain that magic and wanting to share it with someone who sees the world the same way. It's about realizing that while you may be the only ones who see the world that way, you sort of like it that way. It's about seeing the fantasy within the reality and living there.

♡SO MANY SONGS OF OWL CITY!
+Dylan Grunwald He's also a Cancer : D
+Dylan Grunwald I'm an INFP too, and his songs make me feel like he gets me. It's so cliche but it's true
+Dylan Grunwald Another INFP here. :)
WTF does INFB stand for?
Agree with you completely! Ya got the right idea out there. Quite inspirational are your thoughts. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🌈💫💕lkh
When I listen to an Owl City song, I go into a different world. It's just the lyrics in his songs that makes me go on an adventure.
