In regards to the scores this game got strapped with. a big thing to remember is at the time you had games like Halo 2 killzone metroid and Half-life2 that it had to contend with
Enjoyed this game so much when i was younger. This is one of those games that could do well with a full fledged remake with a darker atmosphere and story
I liked Area 51 2005. Doesn't dethrone Halo as my favorite 6th gen FPS game, but I enjoyed the campaign. Really dont get to this day why Midway didn't follow it up with a legit sequel. Blacksite Area 51 has nothing to do with Area 51 2005. Shame WB Games owns the IP. They've done nothing with this, The Suffering, or Psi Ops The Mindgate Conspiracy. Hoping Nightdive Studios one day remasters these games for both current consoles and pc.
My aunt was the producer for the radio show coast to coast (art bell/ george noory) and she would get free stuff. She got this and psy ops the mind gate conspiracy and gave them to me. I had so much fun with these games. This one was alright but psi ops was nuts
Interesting. I was expecting to see review that disses this game as usual. I've played through this and I'd say it's far better than most reviews say. It's nothing spectacular, but I'd still say it's better than average shooters from the era. So much in fact that I've planned to replay the game multiple times since completion and there are games like FEAR I've completed once. I'd say that can't be dismissed from my point of view. Biggest downfall is maybe that David Duchovny isn't getting into character at all and he almost sounds bored during his phrases. I'd say, maybe 8/10? At least solid 7. Imo setting is great and game isn't boring at all. I suppose it could be if one isn't doing those scans and opening the plot in those. Btw. I also loved the ending of this. Bit of an Thing vibe or something :)
Loved the game, opening is very memorable. Felt that it got too repetitive in the later half, the same thing over and over. Seemed to be a common problem of the generation of games.
Something about the graphics reminds me of The Conduit on Wii. Was this made by High Voltage, or is it using the same engine? Like the Spas-5 model is so similar, and the enviroment and lighting seem similar. Not to mention the conspiracy theory angle of the story, maybe The Conduit was a spiritual sequel by some developers who didn't get to make the real sequel. Or its just a similar artstyle on a game developed a few years prior on similar tech, and coincidentally looks similar.
I had completely forgotten about the conduit! I think it was actually also available on Smartphones... I don't have a functioning Wii today, but it might be something I need to look into!
@azordash_games it wasn't on phones, but I know exactly which game you are thinking of. I just forget the name of it, unfortunately. (Edit: Nova 3 was the name!) I don't know much about High Voltage's history outside Conduit 1 and 2, and that one E3 where they showed off a nearly finished Halo 2 port on 3DS that went nowhere (not to be confused with the rumored port of Halo 1 on DS lite).
Man this game was amazing back in the day, wish it would get remastered
Fun fact: John Romero contributed to this while working at Midway.
Really? I didn't even know he worked there. I think this was fairly solid title. Nothing spectacular, but quite entertaining shooter.
@@jothain He also worked on Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows. This was after Ion Storm and Monkeystone and before Romero Games.
He also worked on the Nokia N-Cage port of Red Faction 1.
Fuck, he really has been all over like the other John.
I remember I got this on a demo disc from the xbox magazine like back in 2005. Loved the graphics and how the gunplay felt different.
I remember this one too. Remember Psi-Ops?

Game was ahead of it's time, one of the weapons scopes without using it still captures the full layout of the room your in😂❤
That's amazing considering it was 2005 you don't see to often in modern
You do here and here most times it's just a texture
Me and my brothers would play this for hours, this was the first game I ever remember playing and thinking it was halo
I remember getting this from gamefly back in the day and enjoying it enough to buy it. Wild that the Air Force pushed it.
Good video mate, keep it up 👍
Cheers for the kind words!
That arcade was the shit. My dad and I used to beat the hell out of that game when I was a kid.
STAY LOW

I agree... I think with a "retelling" of the story and modern updates it could do well.
Leave this hell, & go save your world- Edgar ❤💯
so - so game, but I remember being stunned by these rifle scopes, not even today a standard.
It's crazy

I love this game, this game was my jam back in high school

@@jothain Grimbeard's video is reasonbly positive as I recall.
I loved the original ps1/arcade version

Believe it. It's how they exert control on the ideas the game was going to present.
My first Fps ever. I've beaten it multiple times to this day and love it the same ❤
Wait, DGVoodoo on a game from 2005?
Four years after 3DFX shutdown?
That's some arcane witchcraft
Subbed

I honestly really enjoyed this game for what it was. The story was ridiculous lol, but it was entertaining at least.
This Game is Based!
The pc version is alright woth so.e tweaking
